Klem.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

Clamp.
This invention relates to a clamp.
In the first place it concerns a clamp which is intended to be used in bricklaying, but other applications thereof are not excluded.
As is known, regular adjustment means and the like, such as profiles, measuring rods and the like, for instance for tensioning a masonry cord, must be fastened to an already bricked piece of wall during the bricklaying.
A so-called sergeant can be used for attaching such elements. The disadvantage of using such a sergeant is that a supporting surface must be available, behind which the sergeant can be secured with one of his clamping surfaces. As a result, such a sergeant cannot be employed in many applications.
For mounting adjusting means and other elements against a wall, it is also known to use a clamp which has a part that can be secured in the wall, and a part that can be slid along this wall with which it can be clamped against a wall, the two parts providing a clamping in that the second part is inclined relative to the first, which is achieved by striking the second part with a hammer. The drawback of this known clamp is that it is quite difficult to perform a correct positioning of the element to be clamped, since this usually shifts when the clamp is tightened with a stroke.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In addition, the tension cannot be adjusted gradually.
The invention contemplates a clamp in which the above-mentioned drawbacks are excluded.
To this end, this clamp according to the invention mainly consists of a frame which, on the one hand, is provided with means with which the clamp can be secured in a wall, and on the other hand, is provided with screwable clamping means.
In the most preferred embodiment, the frame has a first portion to which the means for clamping the clamp in a wall are arranged; and a second part which is slidable along the first part, wherein between the first part and the second part there are blocking means which allow to block the second part in different positions with respect to the first part, and wherein the aforementioned screwable tensioning means on the the aforementioned second part have been arranged.
The clamp according to the invention offers the advantage that it can, on the one hand, be secured in a wall or the like, so that a supporting surface where the clamp is to be hooked behind must no longer be available, and on the other hand, an even tightening with using the tightening clamping means.
With the insight to better demonstrate the features according to the invention, a few examples of preference are given below without any limiting character
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
described embodiments, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: figure 1 shows in perspective a clamp according to the invention; figure 2 for a variant represents a section according to line II-II in figure 1i figure 3 shows an application of the clamp shown in figure 1; figure 4 represents another application of the clamp of figure 1; figure 5 shows a variant of a clamp according to the invention; figure 6 represents another variant, in a particular application.
As shown in figure 1, a clamp 1 according to the invention mainly consists of a frame 2 which, on the one hand, is provided with means 3 with which the clamp 1 can be secured in a wall, and on the other hand, it is provided with screwable clamping means 4.
As shown, the frame 1 preferably has a first part 5 to which the means 3 with which the clamp 1 can be fixed in a wall are arranged; and a second part 6 which is slidable along the first part 5, wherein between the first part 5 and the second part 6 there are blocking means 7 which allow to block the second part 6 in different positions with respect to the first part 5, and wherein the aforementioned screwable tensioning means 4 are preferably arranged on the second part 6.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The aforementioned first part 5 mainly consists of an elongated body 8, along which the second part 6 is slidable.
The means 3 which allow the frame 2, and in the example shown the first part 5, to be secured in a wall, preferably consist of one or more pointed parts which are attached to the frame 2, and more particularly to the first part 5 , are provided. These pointed parts can be located in different places.
According to a first important possibility, as shown in figure 1, a pointed part 9 is provided, which is located at one end 10 of the body 8 and extends in line with this.
According to a second important possibility, which is also visible in figure 1, use is made of a point-shaped part 11 which extends perpendicular to the body 8 and which is for instance arranged on the free end of a part 12 which is perpendicular to the body 8. The body 8 and the part 12 hereby preferably form a square.
The second part 6 consists of an arm 13, which cooperates with the body 8 at one end, via the blocking means 7, and at its other end is provided with the aforementioned screwable tensioning means 4.
As shown, the blocking means 7 preferably consist of an eye-shaped piece 14 arranged on the second part 6, which is slidable over the body 8, and which can be adjusted at any location on the body 8 by applying a moment of force to the arm 13. blocked,
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
analogous to a classic sergeant. In order to obtain a good engagement, the sides 15 and / or 16 of the body 8, and possibly the inner side of the eye-shaped piece 14 co-operating therewith, can be provided with grooves 17 or the like.
The aforementioned screwable clamping means 4 preferably consist of a clamping screw 18 which is rotatable in a seat 19 arranged on the arm 13. An element 20 is arranged on the clamping screw 18 with which it can be rotated. As shown in Figure 1, such element 20 may consist of a wing nut welded to the turnbuckle 18.
As shown in figure 1, the clamping screw 18 can be designed in such a way that a clamping effect R1-R2 can be achieved in two directions, because it is provided with clamping surfaces at its two opposite ends.
In order to increase the stability of the clamping, the clamping screw 18 will preferably be equipped with clamping shoes 21-22, which in their simplest embodiment consist of discs mounted on the clamping screw 18. According to a variant shown in figure 2, the clamping shoes 21-22 are mounted tiltably and / or rotatably on the ends of turnbuckle 18, for example by means of a ball joint 23.
The clamp 1 can be designed in such a way that, in addition to the special applications for which it is conceived, it can also be used as a classic sergeant. To this end, the aforementioned part 12 has a supporting surface 24 which is in line with the turnbuckle 18. Because this support surface 24 is parallel to the clamping side 25 of the clamping shoe
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
21, the pointed portion 11 is formed only by a bevel in one direction.
The use and operation of the clamp 1 of figure 1 is shown in figures 3 and 4, for two different applications. The first part 5 is always first fixed in the wall 26, then the second part 6 is moved along the body 8 until the respective clamping shoe 21 or 22 is in contact with the element to be clamped, in this case a profile 27, and finally the tightening clamping means 4 are tightened.
It is clear that according to different variants only one point-shaped part will be present. The tensioning means 4 can also be designed in such a way that they can provide a tensioning in only one direction, for instance as in the embodiments of figures 5 and 6.
In figure 5, the first part 5 is provided with only one point-shaped part 11, which in this case consists of a point which is ground on a round part 12. The element 20 in this example is formed from an eye-shaped piece, through which a nail or the like can be inserted, with which a great force can be exerted.
Figure 6 shows a variant in which the element 20 is formed by a handle.
It is noted that, according to a variant, the part 12 shown in figure 1 may also be completely absent.
It is clear that the frame 2 can also be one-piece, wherein the arm 13 is fixed, for example, on the body 8. In this case, the turnbuckle 18 serves
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
be made long enough to handle all the spans for which the clamp 1 has been designed.
The present invention is in no way limited to the exemplary embodiments described in the figures, but such clamp can be realized in various shapes and sizes without departing from the scope of the invention.
