Abstract
An adjustable device (1) (2) (3) is inserted between two rungs of a ladder and is held against them under pressure. The mechanism is composed of bars (4) (5) that slide into it in the direction of a bearing object (gutter, channel or roof). On each of these bars slides, perpendicularly, a T-shaped component which presses the top and the bottom respectively of a bearing object and does so over a certain bearing distance thereby preventing all dangerous movements of a ladder.<IMAGE>
Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Mechanical safety system for maintaining a ladder at the roof of a building.
The invention relates to an adjustable safety mechanism which is attached to a ladder and which has movable and adjustable elements for gripping or gripping appws on a gutter, a channel or directly on the roof of a building. .
The object of the present invention is to avoid any desired displacement or sliding of a ladder placed against a roof which could cause an individual to fall. The invention avoids these problems thanks to two adjustable and movable elements relative to a body fixed to a ladder. One of these two elements comes to rest in the hollow of a gutter or on the top of a roof with a certain span length. The other is placed on the underside of the carrier object (gutters, channels, roofs ...) and is supported there.
The advantages of this invention reside in a simple system quickly attaching to a ladder and having movable and adjustable elements which serve to hold a ladder from all movements at the level of the roof.
The invention is described below in more detail with the aid of drawings showing a way of carrying it out.
Figure 1 shows a perspective view, on a reduced scale, of the system in action on a roof gutter. This figure mainly shows the operating mode of the system.
FIG. 2 shows an exploded perspective view, on a reduced scale, of a way of carrying out the invention.
The figures represent a mechanical security system for maintaining a ladder at a tone level comprising an adjustable body, made up of parts 1 and 2 sliding one inside the other. They are inserted between two rungs of a ladder and are held by pressure thanks to the action of the nut 3 which acts on the threaded rod of the part 1 and on the tube of the part 2 acting as a guide. On this body slide parts 4 and 5 allowing a distance adjustment between the ladder and the load-bearing part (gutter or roof). After a suitable adjustment, these parts which are held in position by the pressure screws 6 and 7 allow the vertical sliding of the parts 8 and 9 intended for taking support on a gutter or on a roof.
Parts 8 and 9 consist of a threaded rod which allows, through the action of nuts 10 and 11, to exert pressure on the load-bearing area depending on the relative position of the rungs used and the roof. They also consist of a bar of a certain length of reach serving as appw and which can be positioned at the ideal place of reach.
