In hoogte instelbare tafel
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

fig.
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

Height-adjustable table
The invention relates to a height-adjustable table, consisting of a table top and the table-top supporting telescopic telescopic and retractable legs, an operating mechanism for extending or retracting the legs, comprising a screw spindle arranged in the cylindrical casing of the leg engaging drive pinion, a coupling rod coupling the operating mechanisms in adjacent legs and a drive member driving the drive pinion.
It is desirable that tables, in particular desks, are adjustable in height for ergonomic reasons for the correct working posture. This desire is determined by the difference in body height of the user, which is all the more cramped when working part-time work, whereby the same workplace and therefore desk must be used by different persons. It is therefore desirable to be able to quickly adjust the height as desired.
It is generally known that tables, in particular office tables, are adjustable in height, but which have various drawbacks, however. One of the drawbacks is both of a production technology and a use technology nature. In practice, people often wish to have access to different sizes and shapes of table tops. This also has consequences for the location and number of the table legs. In connection with the surrounding space, it may further be desirable to change the location and the mutual location of the legs under the table top in order to adapt the table concerned to the space available.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Such a flexible arrangement option implies the requirement that the coupling mechanism between the legs must also be adjustable.
This is achieved according to the invention in that the coupling rod is connected to a member transmitting a rotational movement of the screw spindle and that adjusting means are arranged for adjusting the angular position of the coupling rod relative to the screw spindle.
By applying the invention, the desired position of the legs can be adjusted as desired, and thus of the coupling rod connecting the operating mechanism of the legs. Such an adjustment can take place during assembly at the workplace, but also after a certain period of use of the table in question. Due to the invention it is not necessary to have different types of table legs in stock.
A preferred embodiment is characterized in that the member transmitting the rotational movement of the screw spindle is a gear system, one of the gears of which is placed on the screw spindle and another gear can be coupled to the coupling rod.
According to a preferred embodiment, the adjusting means are formed by clamping means for locking the angular position of the gear wheel that can be coupled to the coupling rod relative to the gear wheel connected to the screw spindle.
The clamping means can be formed by an annular clamping band for clamping the bearing of the gear wheel that can be coupled to the coupling rod relative to the cylindrical casing of the table leg.
A second coupling rod can be coupled to the drive pinion for coupling the operating mechanisms to a second neighboring leg. A drive crank can be used as the driving member.
The invention is further elucidated on the basis of an exemplary embodiment according to the accompanying drawing.
In the figures shows:
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a table according to the invention; fig. 2 shows a perspective view of the coupling of a table leg with the table top along the line II in fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a sectional view taken on the line IIIIII of Fig. 2; Fig. 4 is a perspective view with parts of the construction according to the invention removed; and FIG. 5 is a longitudinal sectional view of FIG. 4.
The table 1 comprises a table top 2 and a number of telescopically retractable legs 3, 4, 5 and 6. Although fig. 1 shows a rectangular table with four legs, it will be clear that the invention is also applicable to other forms of table tops with a different number of supporting table legs.
The operating mechanisms for retracting or extending the telescopic table legs are mutually coupled by coupling rods 7 and 8, for example. These coupling rods rotate the movement of the driving table leg, in the present case the leg indicated with the reference number 6 on the other table legs. It goes without saying that this movement must be synchronous and in phases. A drive crank 9 on the table leg 6 can be used as drive.
At the top, the table leg is connected to a supporting beam, e.g. beam 10, for the table top. Due to the construction as shown in Fig. 2, it is possible to couple the table leg to the beam in several places along the beam 10. The method of coupling is part of the Dutch patent application 9300889 filed on May 25, 1993 in the name of the applicant, the content of which is referred to in this connection.
A screw spindle 12 which carries a conical tooth pinion 18 at the top end is arranged in the cylindrical casing 11 of the table leg. A transmission pinion 19 engages the bevel gear 18. This transmission pinion 19 engages a downwardly directed conical
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
toothing of the double pinion 13. The drive pinion 14 engages on the conical toothing of the double pinion 13 above. Rotation of the driving crank 9 causes the drive pinion 14 to rotate, this rotational movement being transmitted to the screw spindle 12. This, by coupling the helical part 16 of the screw spindle with the internally threaded drive piece 15, brings a known movement. extending or retracting movement of the telescopic part.
A coupling rod 17 is coupled to the operating mechanism for transmitting the rotational movement of the screw spindle to the corresponding screw spindle in an adjacent table leg. To this end, the transmission pinion 19 has an internal hole 20 into which the coupling rod 17 with a correspondingly shaped end part can be inserted. In principle, the gear wheel 19 is freely rotatable with regard to the angular position relative to the gear wheel 18, so that this degree of freedom is also conferred on the coupling rod 17. The gear wheel 19 can move somewhat relative to the gear wheel 18 and therefore to the screw spindle. the angular position is fixed by the presence of a split clamping ring 21. By tightening, for example, an Allen screw 22, this ring clamps with the interface 23 to the casing part 24 of the table leg. The gear wheel 19 is fixed in this position.
To change the angular position, it is sufficient to loosen the Allen screw 22, whereby the ring 21 relaxes and the gear 19 can be moved. The position can then be re-fixed by tightening the Allen screw 22. In this way the coupling rod 17 is freely adjustable with regard to the angular position over in principle the total circumference of 3600. With the drive pinion 14, a second coupling rod, indicated in broken lines 25 in fig. 4, can be coupled in the same manner as coupling rod 17, i.e. by coupling an internal polygonal hole in the drive pinion 14 and a correspondingly shaped end portion of the coupling rod 25. In this way, the movement of the screw spindle can be continued.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
be brought to a second neighboring table leg.
Both coupling rods 17 and 25 are guided in a sliding bush 26 and 27, respectively.
The invention provides an extremely flexible system in which neighboring table legs can assume a mutual angular position as desired and in which the synchronous coupling of the height adjustment of the legs is maintained.
