Sluiting.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
Met het inzicht de kenmerken van de uitvinding beter aan te tonen, zijn hierna als voorbeelden zonder enig beperkend karakter enkele voorkeurdragende uitvoeringsvormen beschreven, met verwijzing naar de bijgaande tekeningen, waarin : figuur 1 in perspektief een bekende sluiting weergeeft ; figuur 2 in bovenaanzicht een sluiting volgens de uitvinding weergeeft ; figuur 3 de sluiting uit figuur 2 in onderaanzicht weergeeft ;

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
<Desc/Clms Page number 11>

Closure.
This invention relates to a closure, more particularly a closure of the type which allows to form a continuous seal.
More specifically, the present invention relates to a closure which allows to form a liquid-tight and / or particle-tight and / or dust-tight and / or gas-tight seal.
In the first place, this closure is intended to be used with garments, in particular with liquid-tight and / or particle-tight and / or dust-tight and / or gas-tight suits, such as these are worn when work is to be carried out in a chemically toxic or polluted environment or the like.
More generally, such a closure can also be used for other applications, for instance for liquid and / or particle, and / or dust and / or gastight sealing of a package.
The known closures of the aforementioned type, also referred to as sliding closures, consist of two closure parts, which respectively contain male and female closure elements, which are formed by profiled longitudinally extending ribs and grooves, which can interact with each other and by means of a longitudinally slidable rider can be put together or taken apart.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Such slide closures have the advantage that they can form a perfect liquid and / or particulate and / or dust and / or gastight seal when closed, but have the disadvantage that they can come apart under the influence of forces exerted on them especially when the longitudinal forces are different in the aforementioned two closure members, creating a transverse resultant force which forces the male and female closure members apart.
The present invention contemplates a closure of the aforementioned type which does not have this drawback.
For this purpose, the invention consists in a closure, which consists in the combination of first closing means with closing parts forming a continuous seal and second closing means forming a lock, the latter preventing a mutual sliding of the closing parts of the first closing means.
The lock at least prevents sliding in the longitudinal direction.
The presence of the aforementioned second closing means ensures that the interlocking closing parts of the first closing means can no longer shift mutually in longitudinal direction, whereby it is excluded that under the influence of forces exerted on the closing one of the closing parts will bulge relative to the other closing part and the first closing means thus open.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In a preferred embodiment, the first closing means consist of a classic sliding closure and the second closing means consist of a zipper arranged over it.
This embodiment has the advantage that it can be composed of parts known per se. Another advantage consists in that, according to this embodiment, the invention can also be applied to existing slide closures, by arranging a zip.
The riders of the sliding closure and of the zipper preferably cooperate with each other, so that simultaneously the sliding closure and zipper can be closed or opened respectively. To this end, these riders can be attached to each other by means of a coupling element, or be directly attached to each other, or even together form a one-piece piece.
According to a special embodiment, only two closing parts are provided, each of which comprises both first closing means and second closing means, the closing and opening respectively taking place by means of the same rider.
With the insight to better demonstrate the features of the invention, some preferred embodiments are described below as examples without any limitation, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a perspective view of a known closure; figure 2 shows a top view according to the invention in top view; figure 3 shows the closure from figure 2 in bottom view;

As shown in Figure 1, it is known that use can be made to form a continuous seal
EMI4.1
made of a slide fastener 1, which consists of two fastener parts 2 and 3, which are for instance attached to a garment 4 and which are respectively provided with male and female elements formed by profiled longitudinally extending ribs 5 and grooves 6 which can be mutually cooperate and can be assembled or disassembled by means of a longitudinally slidable rider 7. The closing parts 2 and 3 consist of clampable plastic strips.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The drawback of such a sliding closure 1 consists in that the closing parts 2 and 3 can come loose under the influence of certain forces.
This can mainly be traced back to the fact that the closing parts 2 and 3 as shown in figure 1 can slide longitudinally with respect to each other, so that the closing parts 2 and 3 can bulge with respect to each other, so that the seal is destroyed.
The object of the invention, as has already been stated in the introduction, is to provide a continuous seal which offers a high degree of security against undesired opening of the seal, and which excludes the aforementioned drawback of classic slide closures.
As shown in the example of Figures 2 to 9, the invention for this purpose consists in a closure 8 which is formed by the combination of first closing means 9 which can form a continuous seal in the longitudinal direction of the closure 8 and second closing means 10 which at least can form a lock against a longitudinal mutual displacement of the first closing means.
In the embodiment of Figures 2 to 9, the first closing means 9 consist of a classic sliding closure and the second closing means 10 of a zipper arranged thereon.
The sliding closure consists of two closure parts 11 and 12, which are for example attached to a garment 13, such as a protective suit, and which are provided with male and female elements which are formed by profiled longitudinally extending ribs 14 and
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
grooves 15 which can cooperate with each other and which can be joined together or disassembled by means of a sliding rider 16.
The closure parts 11 and 12 preferably consist of plastic strips which are attached to the garment 13 or the like or which are formed in one piece therewith. The ribs 14 and / or grooves 15 may be provided with hooking edges 17 and 18 for the attachment.
As is generally known, the zipper consists of two closure parts 19 and 20, which are provided with series of claws 22 and 23 which can be joined together by means of a rider 21.
The closing parts 19 and 20 of the zipper are respectively connected to the closing parts 11 and 12 of the sliding closure. The zipper is herein preferably placed parallel to the slide closure, which means that the zip extends over the ribs 14 and grooves 15.
It is clear that the closing parts 19 and 20 and the closing parts 11 and 12 can be attached to each other in different ways, for instance because they are made of plastic as shown in Figures 4 to 8 and are welded together or formed in one piece.
As shown in figures 2 and 9, the riders 16 and 21 of the first and second closing means 9 and 10 can be coupled to each other, for instance by means of a coupling element 24. In that case it is sufficient that only one rider is moved to to open or close closure 8
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
close, since the other rider is then automatically pulled along.
It is clear that the closure 8 is at least provided with an operating element which allows the riders 16 and 21 to be easily moved.
In the embodiment of Figures 2 to 9, this operating element consists of a ring 25 which cooperates with the rider 16 and on which a pulling force can be exerted.
As shown in Figures 2 and 9, the ring 25 may be arranged in a conventional manner through a bracket 26 or the like, which is part of the rider 16.
It is clear that, according to an embodiment not shown in the figures, the ring 25, or possibly another operating element, can also be attached to the rider 21 instead of to the rider 16.
It is also clear that, for example in the case of a garment, the operating element is located on the inside or on the outside of the garment, depending on the application.
Analogously, both the first closing means 9 can be on the inside and the second closing means 10 can be on the outside of a garment or vice versa.
Figures 10 to 13 show as another example an embodiment in which the operating element, in this case also a ring 25, is located on one side of the first closing means 9, while the second closing means 10, in this case a zipper, the opposite side of the first closing means 9.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
As shown in figures 12 and 13, the operating members, in this case the riders 16 and 21, can form a whole, for instance because they are fastened to each other, for instance welded together, or because they are designed in one piece.
According to figure 13, the closing parts 19 and 20 are attached to the closing parts 11 and 12 by means of a stitching seam 27.
Figures 14 to 19 show a variant in which the first closing means 9 and the second closing means 10 are arranged on common closing parts 28 and 29.
The first closing means 9 in this case are formed from a sliding closure with ribs 14 and grooves 15, analogous to the embodiments of Figures 1 to 13.
The second closing means 10 in this case consist of profilings 30 and 31 arranged on the closing parts 28 and 29, which form at least a longitudinal direction against the mutual displacement of the two closing parts 28 and 29.
As shown in Figures 15 and 16, the profiles 30 and 31 preferably consist of arrays of protrusions 32 and recesses 33 that can cooperate with each other, preferably such as interlocking serrations.
As shown in figure 14, the first closing means 9 and the second closing means 10 can be closed or opened simultaneously by means of the same operating member, more particularly a common rider 34. It is clear that this rider also becomes
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
provided with an operating element such as a ring 25 or the like.
In the example shown, the aforementioned protrusions 32 consist of teeth with a square cross-section and the recesses 33 consist of recesses with a corresponding cross-section.
The profiles 30 and 31 are preferably, but not necessarily, however designed in such a way that they provide not only an anchoring in the longitudinal direction between the closing parts 28 and 29, but also an additional anchoring in the transverse direction and / or in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the closure members 28 and 29, as explained below with reference to Figures 17 to 19.
Figure 18 shows that the first closing means 9 do not provide anchoring against a mutual displacement A. The profiles 30 and 31 of the second closing means 10, as shown in figure 19, do interlock according to the longitudinal direction A.
As can be seen from Figure 17, the profiles 30 and 31 can also form an additional anchor in the transverse direction B, in this case because the protrusions 32 are also fixed laterally in the recesses 33.
In addition, as shown in figure 19, an additional anchoring in a direction C perpendicular to the closing parts 28 and 29 can also be obtained, provided that an appropriate shape of the profiles 30 and 31 is provided. In the example shown, the protrusions 32 are provided for this purpose with a thickened head 35 and the recesses
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
rings 33 have a shape that allows them to elastically enclose the thickened head 35.
In the embodiment of Figures 14 to 19, the second closing means 10 are located on one side next to the first closing means 9. However, it is clear that the closing means 9 and 10 can be combined with each other in other ways. To illustrate this, another variant is shown in figure 20, in which the profiles 30 and 31 are situated between two ribs 14 and grooves 15 of the sliding closure, respectively.
According to a variant not shown in the figures, the second closing means 10 can also be formed by serrations or the like which are arranged on the ribs 14 and in the grooves 15 of the first closing means 9, respectively.
It is clear that the second closing means can also exist in the combination of the zipper of figures 2 or 11 with profiles 30-31 as in the embodiment of figure 14. Finally, a sealing according to the aforementioned figures can be carried out both with profiles 30-31. 31 placed on the left, placed on the right, or between two ribs 14.
The operation and use of the aforementioned closings 8 can be easily deduced from the figures and mainly consists in that the parts of the slide closure are pressed together and that the second closing means 10 may or may not be closed simultaneously for additional anchoring. to shape.
Although the closure according to the invention has always been described as attached to a garment, such is the case
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
closure also applicable for packaging and the like, m. a. w. in all applications where a liquid-tight, and / or particle-tight, and / or dust-tight, and / or gas-tight closure is required with great certainty.
The present invention is by no means limited to the embodiments described as examples and shown in figures, but such closure can be realized in different shapes and sizes without departing from the scope of the invention.
The present invention thus also extends, inter alia, to a closure in which the closing means 9 and 10 are placed next to each other, wherein the riders of these closing means 9 and 10 may or may not be coupled or form a whole.
