<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
Fig. 1,2 et 3 : des vues en coupe transversale de différentes étapes de la méthode de moulage conforme à l'invention ;
Fig. 4 : une vue en perspective d'une partie d'un appareil de moulage conforme à l'invention ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for blowing on a matrix and in particular a method and an apparatus for forming a briefcase of the type comprising a base and a cover, each part comprising hinge elements joined by a hinge hinge.
In the case of blow molding on conventional die attachments of this type, the base and the cover of the attache case are formed separately and immediately connected by drilling holes between the hinge elements of the base and the cover and by inserting a hinge hinge. The duration of a blowing cycle necessary for the formation of such attaché cases and the production time having regard to the considerable number of stages involved are relatively high. Consequently, the production of such attaché cases is relatively expensive.
The objective of the present invention is therefore to develop an improved method and apparatus intended to form a briefcase of this type with reduced costs.
In accordance with one aspect, the present invention provides a method of forming a briefcase of the type comprising a base and a cover, each part comprising hinge elements joined by a hinge hinge, the method comprising the following steps: - blow molding of the base and the cover of the case-holder in a single mold; - demoulding of the base and the cover; - assembly of the hinge elements of the base and the cover; and
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
- insertion of a hinge hinge between the hinge elements.
According to a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, during blowing, a temporary extension piece is formed between the base and the cover and the method comprises the step of demolding the base and the cover by compression and / or extension of the extension part in order to release the base and the cover, and the step of removing the extension part during demolding.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the extension part is molded integrally with the base and the cover.
Preferably, the extension piece comprises hinge elements around which the base and the cover are moved for the extension and / or compression of the extension piece during demolding.
According to a preferred embodiment, four spaced apart hinge elements are provided; a first hinge element connected to the base, a second hinge element connected to the cover and a third and fourth intermediate hinge elements around which the base and the cover move.
According to another aspect, the invention provides a device for blowing on a die of a case-holder of the type comprising a base and a cover, each part comprising hinge elements connected by a hinge hinge, the apparatus comprising a single mold composed of a first mold half and a second mold half, the first mold half having a recess forming the cover and a recess forming the base and the second mold half having conjugated parts forming the cover and the base, an insert being provided between the first and second mold halves in order to form an extension part intended for demolding the base and the cover.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the insert comprises areas of reduced cross section intended to form the hinge elements in the extension part.
The invention further provides a briefcase formed by the method or using the apparatus according to the invention.
The present invention will be more clearly understood thanks to the description which is given below by way of example and with reference to the appended figures which respectively represent:
Fig. 1,2 and 3: cross-sectional views of different stages of the molding method according to the invention;
Fig. 4: a perspective view of part of a molding apparatus according to the invention;
Fig. 5: a perspective view of an insert forming part of the molding apparatus; and
Fig. 6: a perspective view of a briefcase formed by the method and the device according to the invention.
Referring to the drawings, these illustrate a method and an apparatus intended to form a briefcase generally designated by the reference number 10 in FIG. 6 and comprising a base 11 and a cover 12 provided with elements respective hinge 13,14 which engage one another as shown in the drawing and which are joined by hinge hinges.
The base 11 and the cover 12 of the attaché-case are formed in a single mold
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
comprising a first mold half 20 having a recess forming the cover 21 and a recess forming the base 22 as well as an intermediate part 30.
The molding apparatus comprises a second mold half, not shown, which conventionally has a mating part forming the cover and a mating part forming the base. An insert 35 is provided on the intermediate part 30 of the first mold half 20 in order to form an extension part 37 during molding.
The extension piece 37 has four zones 38, 39, 40, 41 of reduced cross section forming the hinge elements around which the parts forming the base 11 and the cover 12 of the case-attachment are articulated to allow the release of the base and the cover out of part 20 of the mold after molding. The extension piece 37 acts in the manner of a bellows allowing both the compression and the extension of the joints between the molded parts forming the base 11 and the cover 12 in order to facilitate the demolding of the base 11 and the cover. 12 in one piece.
After demolding, the extension piece 37 is cut and the hinge elements 13, 14 of the base and of the cover are joined in the manner already described.
The method and the apparatus for blowing on a matrix in accordance with the invention have considerable advantages. The production time necessary for the formation of a case blown on a die is substantially reduced since the method and the apparatus in accordance with the invention allow the base and the cover to be formed in a single mold. The parts forming the base and the cover are easily demolded and thanks to the formation in a single mold, the base and the cover joined together come from the same mold and not from separate molds formed at intervals and joined together thereafter.
Several variants of the specific embodiments of the invention described are possible and in accordance with this, the invention is not limited to the embodiments described above which may vary in their construction and their details.
