<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Fresh air supply and combustion gas discharge pipe for a fuel-heated fan-assisted heat source.
The present invention relates to a pipe for supplying fresh air and for exhausting combustion gas for a fuel-heated fan-assisted heat source, preferably a circulation water heater, which is placed in an installation space of a roofed building, wherein the pipe runs through the roof.
Such a pipe for the supply of fresh air and for the discharge of combustion gas is known from Austrian patent application 1365/88. In this embodiment, the fresh air is drawn in from an area above the roof, passed through the concentric pipe into the housing of the fuel-heated heat source, used for combustion, and then returned to the atmosphere via the concentric flue gas outlet. In this implementation caused
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the inflowing cold air causes strong subcooling of the outer wall of the flue gas discharge pipe, so that condensation can form there. Precipitation condensate flows downwards due to gravity and moistens the further pipe sections and possibly also the fuel-heated heat source.
This means that corrosion phenomena, with all their known negative consequences, cannot be ruled out.
The present invention aims to avoid these drawbacks.
In order to achieve this aim, it is proposed according to the invention that an inlet for fresh air is arranged between the installation space and the roof in the at least partly concentrically designed pipe.
This embodiment makes it possible to not draw fresh air directly from the outside atmosphere through the roof, but rather from a space under the roof, which is preheated with respect to the outside atmosphere. As a result, the condensation phenomena are considerably reduced and even completely avoided under certain circumstances. Furthermore, optionally provided ridge openings for clean combustion gas pipes can be used further when exchanging fireplaces. Finally, the solution just described is independent of the specific shape of the roof and
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
of the placement of the flue gas outlet on the roof.
For example, it is possible to arrange the flue gas outlet on the ridge, that is to say at the highest point of a gable roof or hipped roof, but it can also be applied to an intermediate height area and can also be used with a flat roof.
According to an elaboration of the invention, it is proposed that the inflow opening consists of an apertured sheet metal body through which the combustion gas tube passes.
The concentricity of the fresh air supply resp. of the flue gas discharge pipe, as seen from the heat source, ends downstream of the inflow opening, so that an easily insertable part in the pipeline for creating the inflow opening is possible.
In a particularly favorable manner, this inflow opening part has a conical shape, so that it is possible to allow the combustion gas tube with its relatively small cross-section in the region of the concentric pipe to transition to a relatively large cross-section for the remaining part of the combustion gas outlet opening. This results in a reduction of the pressure loss in the path of the combustion gas, which on the other hand influences the required capacity
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
of the fan. In other words: with equal pressure loss, longer combustion gas pipes are possible, so that there is a greater variation in the location of the fuel-heated heat source.
Further elaborations and particularly favorable embodiments of the invention are apparent from the further claims or from the following description, in which an exemplary embodiment of the invention is further elucidated with reference to Figures 1 and 2 of the drawing.
In the drawing: Figure 1 shows a house in cross section; and Figure 2 shows a detail of the fresh air supply resp. of the flue gas discharge pipe on a larger scale.
A building 1 has one or more living spaces 2, wherein a circulation water heater 3 is placed in one or more of these living spaces, the so-called installation space. This is a wall-mounted central heating appliance with an atmospheric gas burner, in which a fan is fitted in the air supply pipe to the circulation water heater or in the flue gas discharge pipe of the heater. Alternatively, a
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
fan burner, whereby an oil or gas fan burner is eligible. Instead of a circulating water heater, a fuel-heated boiler, one or more gas ovens or a consumable water preparation device would also be eligible.
At the top 4 of the fuel-heated heat source, a concentric pipe 5 for fresh air supply and for combustion gas discharge is arranged, which pipe runs through the ceiling 6 and a roof space 7 under a tiled roof 8, the roof 8 being a ridge 9 as the highest place owns. At the top of the cam there is a flue gas outlet 10, while the outflowing flue gas is indicated by arrows 11. The concentric conduit 5 for supplying fresh air and for exhausting combustion gas is designed concentrically or partly concentrically, at least in the region between the heat source 3 and an inflow point 12 for fresh air. This place is indicated by arrows 13.
Such pipes are known, the inner space forming a flue gas discharge pipe, which is spaced apart by a fresh air pipe, the annular cross-section between the two pipes forming the fresh air supply channel, while the inner space of the inner pipe forming the flue gas discharge pipe. Above the inflow location 12, only the flue gas discharge pipe 14 runs to the flue gas outlet
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
10 through. In a first exemplary embodiment, the combustion gas outlet 10 is located in the ridge, i.e. at the highest point of a saddle or hipped roof. According to another embodiment shown to the left thereof, the flue gas outlet 10 can also run with its associated pipe 14 through a middle or low-lying part of the roof.
The solution according to the invention can also be used with a flat roof, as indicated in the right-hand part of Fig. 1. Here, the roof 8 is substantially flat (except for a water-draining slope). The roof space 7 is also present. The inflow site 12 serves to direct air from the roof space 7 to the fuel-heated heat source, this air being heated through heat loss passing through the ceiling 6 and to be used. The area of the inflow site 12 is further shown in Fig. 2.
The inflow site consists of a plate body 15, which connects the concentric part 16 of the fresh air supply and flue gas discharge pipe 5 to the pure flue gas pipe 14. The plate part can be conceived as a concentric double truncated cone, with an inner closed cone wall 17, which extends from the base 18 of the upside-down truncated cone to the tip 19 of the truncated cone. Here-
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
a connecting stub 20 is placed on which this stub is inserted or can be inserted into the inner tube 21 of the flue gas tube of the concentric pipe. A further stub 22 connects to the base 18, which is either inserted into the combustion gas tube 14 or can be inserted thereon.
An outer cone plate 23, which has a number of openings 24, is welded to the base 18. The openings 24 serve to let air from the roof space enter into the internal space 25 between the two plates 17 and 23, such that the air can enter the annular space 26 of the fresh air duct, from which the air continues to the fuel-heated heat source flows.
A further stub 28 connects to the tip of the truncated cone of the outer plate 23, indicated by the number 27, which can be placed either in the outer pipe 29 of the pipe 5 or on the pipe 29 of the pipe 5.
