<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

METHOD FOR CAPTURING PLASTIC STRIPS
AND / OR THREADS IN SCREEN FABRIC TISSUES.
The present invention relates to a method for capturing plastic strips and / or wires in screen fabrics realized from a series of thin intertwined thermoplastic plastic strips and / or wires. It aims at treating screen cloth fabric and / or screen cloth knitting in order to impart additional stability properties to the screen cloth, among other things: a. To prevent fraying from loosening along an embroidery of the screen or to make the fabric suitable for catching hooks.
The process mainly applies to screen cloths that are used in horticultural businesses and in horticulture as a shade and insulating screen to protect against light and cold of vegetables and / or flowers, which are grown in greenhouses or in the open air.
Document EP-A-0089422 discloses a screen cloth, which consists of a checkered fabric comprising a series of thin strips of about 2 to 10 micrometers thick, which form the elements of warp and weft that are crossed and / or intertwined.
The screen fabric offers a perfectly regular and perfectly flat diamond pattern.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
It allows the respiration of the plants over the entire area covered by the screen and ensures a stable temperature with a minimum tolerance both upwards and downwards, so that condensation of water vapors in colder areas is avoided while energy savings are possible.
The production of a homogeneous screen fabric is based on the use of a circular or flat weaving chair based on a series of strips of a synthetic material. Small thickness plastic strips are placed completely flat without mutual overlapping.
The obtained cloth is then cut along a chain strip. However, this cut-off screen has the drawback that the weft strips, which are smashed transversely into the warp or warp when weaving, very easily come off and fray.
The present invention aims to overcome this drawback. It concerns a method for capturing plastic strips and / or wires in screen fabrics realized from a series of thin interlaced thermoplastic plastic strips and / or wires.
This method is mainly characterized in that ultrasons are used to heat the strips and / or wires from the screen to the softening point and to weld them together.
According to a special feature of the invention, the strips and / or threads are welded in the warp direction on the strips and / or threads of the weft direction
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
to obtain a stabilized screen fabric fabric zone.
According to another feature of the invention, the area of the screen fabric to be cut is stabilized to prevent fraying.
The chain and weft element can be made of different plastics or alternately consist of different materials, such as for instance transparent synthetic polyethylene material and metallized polyester material.
Further details and details will become apparent from the description of the accompanying drawings, which schematically and non-limitingly show an embodiment of shadow screens with finished trim according to the invention.
In the drawings: figure 1 is a top view of a screen cloth fabric not reinforced by a stabilized zone; figure 2 shows a top view of a first embodiment of stabilized screen cloth fabric? Figure 3 is a side view of an ultrasonic generator; figure 4 shows a top view of a second embodiment of a stabilized screen cloth fabric suitable for catching hooks, and

figure 5 shows a perspective view of a screen cloth as hung in a warm-keeping-farm. Figure 6 is an enlarged perspective view of part of a screen cloth shown in Figure 5;
Figure 7 is a front view of a suspended screen cloth, shown as an example, and Figure 8 is a front view of another embodiment of a hook intended to hang a screen cloth.
In these different figures, the same reference characters indicate identical or corresponding elements.
As shown in Figure 1, the shadow screen, which is indicated in its entirety by reference mark 1, is composed of parallel strips 2, 12 of small thickness plastic film intertwined to form a sufficiently ventilated checkerboard.
A first series of parallel strips 2 form the warp elements which run in the production direction of the fabric, while a second series of strips 12 form the weft elements. The weft elements are hammered transversely into the warp and weave back and forth with the series of warp elements perpendicular to them.
If one uses a circular weaving chair, with
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
the method as described in document EP-A-0089422, a checkered fabric is produced in the form of a cylindrical cloth which is cut lengthwise using an ultrasonic tool. The cut edges of a traditional screen cloth have strips that form these edges, which very easily loosen and fray (Figure 1). To prevent this, these edges must be provided with a groin 6 consisting of a strip of stabilized screen cloth fabric (figure 2) which forms the boundary of the screen cloth.
With the method according to the invention this is achieved by using ultrasounds to heat the strips 2, 12 and / or wires 3, 13 of the screen 1 to softening point and to weld them together.
The edges of the screen cloth 1 are scanned with an electro-acoustic buzzer 8 with a resonance frequency varying between 16 and 100 kHz. This buzzer is an ultrasonic generator consisting of a piezoelectric ceramic 16, a transmitter 17, an amplifier 18, a tool 19 and a counter mass 20.
The device is carried by a movable carriage. The throughput speed of the fabric is regulated to a specific value chosen between 20 cm / h and 20 m / h.
As a result, the strips and / or bands are welded together in the warp direction and in the weft direction. The ultrasonic bonding of strips 2 and / or wires 3 in both directions imparts additional stability properties to the screen fabric.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
This stabilization can pursue several purposes: - an anti-fraying zone along an embroidery of the screen; - a hook-on zone, or - a reinforced groin.
The purpose of an anti-fray zone in a screen fabric is to enable cold cutting, so that lengthening of the screen fabric at the site of the user is facilitated, in other words the screen fabric is made installation-friendly.
In the ultrasonically after-treated zone, the strips 2 and / or wires 3 in the warp direction that form the chain elements are welded to the strips
12 and / or threads 13 of the weft direction (weft elements). This ultrasonic recording can be done with or without adding material.
This recording creates a screen cloth fabric, in which one can locally cut cold without any fraying.
The same operation can be used continuously to stabilize screen fabric fabrics.
Ultrasonically stabilized screen fabric zone is particularly suitable for catching hooks 7.
In some countries, screen fabrics 1 are not placed in profiles and on guides, but are hung with hooks 7 on longitudinal cables 8 in the greenhouse 18 (figure 5).
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
By ultrasonically connecting the strips and / or wires in both directions, it becomes possible to anchor these hooks firmly in the screen cloth.
To facilitate the hooking of screen fabrics, either in the warp and / or the weft direction, additional threads 9 and strips 10 are woven in a zone around these additional threads 9 and strips 10, the hooks 7 are attached, as shown in figure 4.
The hooks 7 comprise an upwardly bent foot 16 with a downwardly bent hook 17 on top. The flat foot 16 of the hook is inserted into the supplementary wires 9 (figure 6).
Figure 4 shows a screen fabric comprising aluminum strip 11, hydrophile polyester threads 12 and polyester strips in the production direction and hydrophile polyester threads 14 and polyethylene strips 15 in the transverse direction.
In the production direction, three supplementary threads 9 are woven in above a strip 10 around which the feet of the hooks 7 are attached. According to the inventions, these additional woven wires 9 are ultrasonically welded to the strip 10 at regular intervals and at the ends of the custom screen fabric length.
If the chain and weft elements consist of the same plastic, the intensity of the ultrasounds is controlled to reach the softening point of only one plastic from which the chain and / or weft elements are made.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
If the chain and the weft element are made of different plastics or alternately consist of different materials, such as for example aluminum straps 11, transparent synthetic polyethylene straps 12 material and metallized polyester material straps 13 in the production direction and polyester threads 14 and polyethylene 15 in the transverse direction, the intensity of the ultrasounds to reach the upper softening point. The ultrasounds heat the strips 2, 12 and wires 3; 13 from the screen cloth to the softening point of the plastic and allow it to be welded together.
Figure 7 is a front view of a conservatory / 8 in which a screen cloth is suspended from both flanks, in order to form a support sky. A hook 7 with raised foot 16 is used to support the screen fabric in places where the screen fabric is reinforced by additional wires 9 (Figure 8).
