EMI1.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Working method for mounting a spout on the threaded neck of a container, and cap-spout-neck combination for
EMI1.1
apply t2ffFossins in this workwi.ize. The present invention relates to a method of mounting a spout on a threaded neck of a container. with which the pouring spout can be reliably mounted on the threaded neck of a container in a fixed position during the screwing of the cap on said neck. It also relates to a cap-spout-neck combination for use in this method.
Especially in the field of household products, use is increasingly made of containers intended for liquid, somewhat viscous products. which, in addition to a screw cap and a screw neck, contain a spout inserted and profiled in the neck for better control of the flow of the liquid.
When taking into account that the majority of these containers carry a handle and / or that the neck is not axially mounted on the container, and that the pouring spout, as mentioned above, is also profiled, it is important that the pouring spout is a predetermined orientation is mounted on the neck.
Since the opening of the container is further narrowed by the pouring spout, it is also important that the spout is placed thereon after the container has been filled.
The object of the present invention is thus to provide a method whereby a pouring spout can be reliably mounted on the threaded neck of a container in a predetermined position, and this simultaneously with the screwing on of the cap. This also aims to provide a cap-pour-spout-neck combination with which this method can be applied and with which the cap and the pour-out spout can also be combined in a single unit with a view to their mounting on the container and possibly their prior storage .
According to the invention, the method essentially consists of: - releasably joining the cap and the pouring spout to temporarily assemble it into a single unit, fully preserving the possibility of rotation between them
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
co-operating guide members mounted on the spout and neck respectively to push the cap spout unit onto and into the neck until it has reached the position where the screw threads of the cap are in r. mating comes with the threads on the neck. maintaining co-operation between the guide members.
- screwing the cap on the neck. while the spout is blocked from rotation by the cooperation of the guide members.
- utilizing the screwing force of the cap to create clamping conditions between the neck and the spout during the movement of the latter on the threads of the neck by elastic deformation clamping members on the spout behind corresponding clamping members on the neck and thus creating a clamping condition between the neck and the spout that is stronger than between the spout and the cap. whereby the latter can come off the pouring spout during the final unscrewing of the cap. and said spout on the neck can be maintained.
According to a further feature of the invention, the detachable combination of the cap and the pouring spout is effected, inter alia, by friction. while, in addition to the friction, the possibility of mutual rotation between the cap and the pouring spout is fully maintained and consequently. for the purpose of ensuring the cooperation of the guiding members provided on the spout and on the neck, this cap-pouring-spout unit is mounted on the neck without concern for any correspondence between the guiding members and by taking advantage of the friction between the cap and spout cause the combination of the cap spout unit on the neck to tilt or rotate by engagement with the cap until agreement is reached and thus the cap-spout unit can be pushed onto and into the neck.
the screwing of the cap to the neck being performed thereby overcoming the friction between the cap and the spout.
In accordance with another feature of the invention, for pushing the combination cap-spout onto and into the neck, the guide member on the spout is brought into correspondence with the corresponding guide member on the neck, either by tilting or turning the pouring spout relative to the cap.
The object of the invention is also to provide a combination cap pouring spout hall with a holder for fitting of this

method, comprising: - a blocking deformation on the inner wall of the cap, seen at two different levels thereof in the axial direction, - a complementary corresponding deformation on the outer wall of the pouring spout, - a guiding deformation in the inner wall of the neck, in the axial direction of the latter.
- a complementary corresponding deformation in the external wall of the spout.
- a fixing deformation on the inner wall of the cap, which deformation on the spout exerts a fixing force which is less than the blocking deformation on the wall of the neck.
- a complementary corresponding deformation on the spout.
- a pressure member on the cap which cooperates with - a corresponding stop member on the spout.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the combination cap-spout-neck of a container has the following features: - the spout comprises an outer jacket which extends over a part of the height of the spout, starting from the lower part thereof and extending dilate slightly upwards. which sheath terminates at the top thereof in a profiled edge in the form of a top projecting simultaneously over the inner wall and the outer wall of the sheath, which sheath from the bottom, in an axial direction and over part of its height, includes a guide groove terminating in a hollow support surface.
- the threaded cap includes an internal projection. retracted from its threaded wall. on which a peripheral slot is provided intended for co-operation with the profiled edge of the jacket. which slot kn communicates with the outside and on its wall, which is coaxial with the axis of the cap. has a coupling rib through which the cap and shell can be joined together and on its wall which is perpendicular to the axis of the cap. a support surface. that is at a level lower than the level of the cap surface that co-operates with the top edge of the neck.
(h 15 with screw thread includes an inwardly protruding rim on its upper part to accommodate the mounting rib of the

pour spout, as well as on its internal wall, a guiding rib which extends axially, corresponding to the guiding groove of the spout, which rib ends in a protruding support surface. the distance between the mounting rib and the protruding support surface on the neck corresponding to the distance between the profiled rim in the form of the top and the hollow support surface on the spout.
The invention is further elucidated by the description and the attached drawing. which represents as an example only two embodiments of the invention. and wherein: - figure 1 is a front side view of an embodiment of the invention.
- figure 2 is a profile side view of the same embodiment, - figure 3 is a top view of a section according to III-III of figure 1.
- figure 4 is a front side view, partly in section, of another embodiment of the invention, - figure 5 is a profile side view, partly in section, of the embodiment of figure 4, - figure 6 is a top view. with the part removed and seen according to the section VI-VI of figure 4, and - figure 7 is an enlarged sectional view of the detail A of figure 4.
In the embodiment schematically illustrated in Figures 1-3, a device according to the invention is composed in known manner of a cap 1. a spout 2 and a neck 3. According to this schematic embodiment of the invention, the cap 1 comprises on its internal surface a coupling rib 4. which represents the fixing deformation. Designed to cooperate with a corresponding rib 5 on the exterior wall of the spout 2. to effect a releasable joining of the cap and the spout. The threaded wall of the neck 3 thereby terminates at its top in an upper part which projects towards the interior and on the threaded part an indentation which forms a projection 7 which projects towards the interior. wear.
These two elements form a blocking deformation on the inner wall of the neck. Likewise, the pouring spout on its external wall comprises a blocking rib 8 spaced from the inner edge 9 of said squirt spout corresponding to the distance between the spout.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
top piece 6 and the projection 7 of the wall of the neck is placed.
Finally, the neck 3 comprises two internal ribs 10, 10 '. which form conduction deformations. oriented in the axial direction of the neck and the distance of which corresponds to the width of an external rib 11. also in the axial direction, on the spout 2.
As can be seen more particularly in Figure 2, between the two ribs 10, 10 the interior projecting part of the top part 6 is interrupted. thus saving a passage for the external rib 11 on the spout 2.
According to the method of the invention, in a first phase, the cap 1 is combined with the pouring spout 2 by introducing said pouring spout 2 into the cap 1 and elastic rebound of the rib 5 beyond the coupling stage 4. whereby a single unit is formed.
Then, after filling the bottle, the combination cap spout is placed on the neck. Depending on whether the cap 1 and the spout 2 are joined together with or without friction. Two mounting ways of the cap 1. which is integral with the pouring spout 2 are possible on the neck 3 of the floss.
When combined with friction, the combination cap-spout is placed on the neck, and given that the cross-section of the neck 3 is reduced by protruding from the top 6 of the neck to the interior, the outer rib 11 of the spout prevents 2 the descent of the combination cap l-spout 2 on and in the neck. The cap 1 is then allowed to rotate, and because of the friction, the spout 2 follows the cap as it rotates. When the outer rib 11 of the spout 2 matches the space between the inner ribs 10, 10 'on the neck. the combination cap-spout is pressed on and in the neck. guided by the cooperation of the ribs 10.10 'with the rib 11.
In an assembly without friction of the pouring spout with the cap, the outer rib 11 on the pouring spout 2 is aligned with the space between the inner ribs 10, 10 'on the neck 3, by rotating the pouring spout 2 and the cap 1 The cap and pouring spout is allowed to sink into the neck according to the combination. the spout 2 being guided by the interaction of the ribs 10, 10 with the rib 11.
In these two cases the screwing of the cap 1 onto the neck 3 is then effected by possibly overcoming the friction between the pouring spout 2 and the cap 1. where the orientation of
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
the spout 2 on the neck 3 is maintained by the cooperation of the guide rib 11 on the spout with the corresponding guide ribs 10, 10 'on the neck 3. During the movement of the cap, the top wall 12 of the cap acts as a pressure member on top 13 of the spout 2, and forms a support member under the action of the screwing force. brings the blocking rib 8 of the pouring spout behind the top 6 of the neck, by elastic rebound of the latter.
The pouring spout 2, the internal wall 9 of which then comes into contact with the ridge 7, is then firmly held on the neck by the fixing force exerted by the top part 6 of the neck on the blocking rib 8. This fixing force is greater than that applied by the coupling rib 4 of the neck is exerted on the corresponding rib 5 of the pouring spout, such that during the unscrewing of the cap 1 the pouring spout 2 will continue to form a whole with the neck 3.
According to a preferred embodiment illustrated in Figures 4-7, the device is composed of a cap 101, a spout 102 and a neck 103.
The spout 102 includes an outer jacket 120 which extends over part of the height of the spout 102 substantially from the lower part thereof and which widens slightly upwards. The jacket 120 terminates at its top with a profiled edge in the form of the top 121 that protrudes simultaneously over the inner wall and the outer wall of the jacket 120. This jacket 120 also has a bottom beginning. in an axial direction and over part of its height. a guide groove 111 which tapers into a hollow support surface 109.
The threaded cap 101 includes an internal protrusion 114 that is retracted from its threaded wall 115, on which protrusion 114 a circumferential recess 116 is formed to cooperate with the profiled rim 121 of the jacket. which recess is in skin bonding with the exterior and on its cap coaxial wall has a coupling rib 117 through which the cap 102 and the jacket can be joined, and on its wall perpendicular to the axis of the dcp a support surface 113 which is at a level lower than the level of the surface of the cap 118. and cooperating with the top edge 106 of the neck.
The threaded neck 103 includes at xi. in the upper part an edge 106 which has a projection towards the interior

form a mounting rib of the spout 102. as well as on its internal wall, a rib 110 extending axially. and corresponds to the groove 111 of the pouring spout. the rib terminating in a projecting support surface 107, the distance between the lower part of the mounting rib 106 and the projecting support surface 107 on the neck corresponding to the distance between the upper part of the profiled edge in the form of the top piece 121 and the hollow support surface 109 on the spout 102.
In this device, the cap 101 with the jacket 120 of the spout 102 is joined together by clamps. whereby the possibility of a mutual rotation between the jacket which is integral with the pouring spout and the cap is fully maintained.
The cap 101 - spout 102 combination is placed on the neck 103 into which it is inserted until the lower edge of the jacket 120 abuts the protruding support surface 107 of the neck 103. The cap 101 - spout 102 combination is thus rotated by acting on the cap 101. until the groove 111 on the jacket 120 cooperates with the groove 110 in the neck 103 and thus permits the pushing of the combination cap 101 - spout 102 onto and into the neck, which push-in can be realized under the influence of gravity.
The cap 101. the screw thread of which comes into contact with the screw thread of the neck. is rotated and screwed onto the neck 103, while the spout 102 held in the required orientation on said neck 103 by the engagement of the groove 111 with the groove 110. the descent of the cap follows the pressure exerted by the support surface 113 on the top 121 of the jacket 120.
During the course of screwing, the top 121 of the jacket first contacts the fastening groove 106 of the neck and is then pushed behind this groove 106 by the pressure applied to the support surface 113 and the elastic springback of the fastening device 106 behind the top piece 121 is maintained on the projection 114 of the cap. Thus, the jacket on the neck 103 remains blocked. tilting by the cooperation of the groove 111

cap 121, is considerably stronger than the joining force of the spout on the cap. which is realized by the action of the coupling rib 117 on the same top piece 121 of the jacket. Thus, during the final unscrewing and re-screwing of the cap, the coupling rib 117 will each time release the top 121 from the jacket, the latter remaining in communication with the neck 103 with the spout 102.
