BESCHRIJVING
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

DESCRIPTION
Tile Grab Tool.
The invention relates to a tool for gripping flat objects, such as tiles, according to the preamble of claim 1.
Such a tool is known from the
Dutch patent 64 07 210. However, the device described therein is intended to be hung on a hoist and is not suitable for use as a hand tool.
The object of the present invention is to provide a tool for gripping flat objects, such as tiles, which is designed as a hand tool.
This object is achieved by a tool having the features of claim 1.
A road worker can use this tool to grab tiles on a sidewalk or cycle path to put or lay them down, in a standing position or with a straight back, so that the heavy back load that occurs with the current manual method will be eliminated, which can prevent back complaints from road workers.
It is also possible to remove a single tile from a sidewalk within a second by coupling the tool to this tile and pulling it out of the sidewalk with manual force to create a place for b. v. a stake to be driven into the ground.
The tool according to the invention may consist of an open cylinder placed on the tile to be removed, while a seal is placed between the tile and the bottom of the cylinder wall so that no air can enter the cylinder as a piston placed in the cylinder is moved away from the tile into the cylinder. As a result of the created underpressure, such a tensile force is exerted on the tile that it comes loose from the surrounding tiles.
To compensate for the friction between the piston and cylinder, a spring must be built in so that when pulling the piston m. B. v. a pull rod with handles the

cylinder remains on the tile with a certain compressive force, especially if there is no negative pressure in the cylinder yet. It can be assumed that the spring is unloaded after a certain stroke. The negative pressure times the difference between the suction surface and the surface of the cylinder surface with the tile must give a force greater than the piston friction force.
In order to be able to release the tile during parking or when laying, a valve must be present to allow air into the cylinder so that the underpressure is released.
The construction is explained in more detail on the basis of the drawings below.
Figure 1 is a cross section of a first embodiment of the tool according to the invention, and Figure 2 is a cross section of a second embodiment of the tool according to the invention.
In figure 1 a cylinder 1 with a widening plate 2 at the bottom rests loosely on the tile 4 to be gripped via a flexible seal 3. A piston 5 movable in the cylinder with seal 6 can be attached by a road worker with the handles 8 to one with the piston 5 connected hollow rod 7, which serves as piston rod, are pushed downwards, whereby air can escape from the cylinder via the hollow rod 7 and a manually opened valve 10. Thereby a compression spring 9 is tensioned and the cylinder on the tile 4 printed.
If the valve 10 is closed in the pressed-in position and the handles 8 are released, the spring 9 will push the piston 5 up a little, whereby under the piston 5 a negative pressure is created and the cylinder wall 1 with seal 3 is placed on the tile 4 sucked. By now pulling the piston 5 further upwards via the handles 8, the pressure under the piston 5 is lowered even more and the tile 4 is gripped more strongly, while now the pulling force on the handles 8 by the tile 4 is experienced as a pulling force, which by the standing position and
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
straight back of the road worker up to 100 kg. could rise. However, the tile will be pulled up earlier and can then be set aside and released by opening the tilt 10.
In figure 2 a flexible bellows or band 11 is clamped at the bottom with a clamping plate 12 on the widening plate 2, which rests again on the tile 4 to be removed via the flexbile seal 3. The top of the bellows or tire 11 is clamped between a clamping plate 13 and a plate 14 on the hollow rod 7. The function of the spring 9 of figure 1 is here taken over by the resilience of the bellows or tire 11. The figure 1 valve 10 shown is omitted here. An opening 15 in the handle 8 can be closed or not with the thumb.
