Munition d'exercice
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Exercise ammo
The present invention relates to an ammunition, such as in particular a grenade, for exercise.
At present, combatant training is rarely carried out with active ammunition, for cost reasons, and mainly for safety reasons, because of the risk of fire, the projection of hazardous waste, and also because of the availability likely to be offered by the ranges.
These exercises are therefore carried out using inert ammunition, or with specific ammunition, with identical characteristics.
Furthermore, it is important to ensure the visualization of the operation of the exercise ammunition. This visualization is carried out either using a smoke pot, which requires pyrotechnic initiation, therefore specific storage and use conditions. either by means of a pyrotechnically inert impact marker, but barely visible from the launch pad.
The invention relates to an exercise ammunition which has. compared with known munitions, particularly important advantages: thanks to the provisions adopted according to the invention, the ammunition is pyrotechnically completely inert. Its operation can be independent of the nature of the target and
EMI1.1
assured from its launch, which allows it to be viewed over its entire trajectory. Finally, the number of elements entering into the constitution of the ammunition is very low and of great diffusion, so that its cost is very reduced.
The munition according to the invention, comprising means intended for its visualization on impact or on a trajectory, and having two filled enclosures, one of a product intended for visualization, the other of a gas under pressure, is characterized in that these two enclosures. one containing the product
EMI1.2
intended for visualization, and preferably chemically inert, the other, filled with a pressurized gas, also preferably chemically inert, are put into communication when the munition is launched or at the impact of the latter on the target, the display product then being, under the effect of the pressure of the gas, expelled from the ammunition by vents made in the body of the ammunition and opening onto its external face.
We have described below. by way of nonlimiting examples, two embodiments of the invention, this description being made with reference to the appended drawing, of which Figures 1 and 2 partially show, in axial longitudinal section, ammunition bodies according to the invention.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In the example treated in FIG. 1, the body 1 of the ammunition has a cavity 2 filled with a product such as talc, making it possible to visualize its operation.
This cavity is in communication through orifices 3 formed in a part 4 provided with a striker 5, with an enclosure 6 in which is disposed a cartridge 7 containing a gas under pressure, for example C02. The enclosure 2 opens onto the outside of the body of the ammunition by
EMI2.1
vents 8. The part 4 is mounted so as to be able to move in the body of the ammunition. The striker 5 with which it is provided is located in the axis of the orifice, normally closed, of the cartridge 7.
Under these conditions, upon impact, the cartridge 7 is struck so that the pressurized gas which it contains, passing through the communication orifices 3 with the capacity 2 containing the display product, expels the latter, projected outside by the vents 8.
Instead of viewing the ammunition only
EMI2.2
on impact, it is also possible under these conditions, at the start of the shot, that is to say at the launch of the ammunition, to strike the cartridge 7 and therefore to view the ammunition as soon as it is launched, and therefore on path.
In order to optimize viewing, the embodiment shown in Figure 2 can be used.
According to this embodiment, the part 4 is made integral with a diffuser tube 9 plunges into the cavity Z and of which the rear part penetrates into a housing 10. A channel 11, formed in the part 4 and the striker 5 ensures, during of the percussion of the cartridge 7, the flow of gases in the tube 9 and their diffusion in the cavity 2. The arrangements thus adopted according to the invention make it possible to improve the homogeneity of the mixture: gas-display product .
If necessary, to delay the start of viewing, the vents 8 through which the viewing product is ejected, may be provided with a shutter 12, capable of being unmasked after a determined time.
From the above it follows that, as already noted, the munition according to the invention is pyrotechnically completely inert.

EMI3.1
The display of the ammunition can be ensured from the start of the shot. In addition, the diffusion of the gas in the pulverulent medium that constitutes the display product makes it possible to ensure the latter a dispersion making it particularly effective.
Finally, the elements constituting the ammunition are reduced in number and consist of simple means, of wide circulation, which entails for the manufacture of the ammunition a particularly reduced cost.
It is important to add that the storage of the ammunition according to the invention does not present, unlike what happens for known practice ammunition, no particular problem. On the contrary, this
EMI3.2
Storage is facilitated, because the ammunition is designed so that the cartridge can be easily mounted and, if necessary, in the field.
In order to reduce instruction costs and, depending on the ammunition, it can be refillable or consumable.
The arrangements according to the invention are likely to increase
EMI3.3
applied to all kinds of ammunition such as rifle grenades, rockets, shells ...
