1 THE SPIDER CATCHER This invention relates to the safe and easy removal of insects, spiders and more.
It is well known that many people are very uncomfortable with the prospect of coming face to face with avariety of insects, especially spiders.
Up until today people, who were afraid of spiders, would have to rely on some one else removing the spider for them. Perhaps they would ring the neighbour or wait until their partner, who hopefully was not afraid, was there to remove it .Killing the unwanted spider has also been an option that some people have taken in the past In todays society most people are very aware of the delicate nature of the enviroment, and take into consideration the importance of all insects great and small.
No longer is spraying halfa can offly spray on an innocent huntsman, acceptable.
All these problems are now overcome by the inv. "he Spider Catcher.
With the Spider Catcher anyone can confidently an remove any offensive insect Ifs meter long handle enables the user to be at a safe distance, giving them confidence and control.
The Spider Catcher has a clear plastic catcher at the front, so the insect is visible at all times. The clear plastic catcher also has a clip moulded in, so when it is closed, it stays closed.

T 9 WT3" 2 The Spider Catcher comprises of a meter long handle. At one end is the box in which the insect is to be caught. At the other end is a hand grip that slides back and forth along the handle, opening and closing th r catcher at the other end.
The Spider Catcher may be made in any size. A portable size for the car may also be manufactured.
In the drawings: Fig. 1 shows the Spider Catcher in the open position.
Fig. 2 shows the Spider Catcher in the closed position.
Referring to Fig. I it can be seen that the Spider Catcher has abox 1 when in the open position, is sealed on five sides. The open face of the box is placed over the offensive insect, which is then trapped with no escape.
S The hand grip 7 is then pushed along the handle 6, moving rod 5 forward, which in turn S pushes lid 4 closed.
While lid 4 is closing,sliding firmly inside box 1, bristles 2 gently sweep the insect into the closed box.
When closed, the lid automatically locks into the closed position using clip 8 which is :moulded into the plastic box 1.
The adjustable section 3 enables the head or box 1 to be moved into different angles depending on which surface the insect is on The action of bristles 2 gently sweeping the insect into the sealed box not only ensures the saftey of the user and the insect, but it also ensures the saftey of the surface on which the insect is removed from. Such as curtains or furniture, walls and ceilings. The i sweeping action of the bristles 2, removes the insect without damage, wich ensures that no marks are left behind.
The clear plastic of box 1 enables the user to see the insect at all times. This is an important factor when dealing with a moving object The user must also be able to see the insect once it is caught, to ensure victory.
The clip 8 that locks the lid closed, may be replaced by clip 9 on the handle 7.
Rod 5 is made of a thin steal, or similar product, so as not to have it bend when pressure is applied.

3/1 In the open position the spider catcher resembles a box from which there is no escape.
Once this has been placed over the spider, the handle is then pushed forward closing the lid and gently sweeping the spider into the clear plastic box.
When the lid has been closed, it is locked by a clip. Then the unwanted spider can be removed, with all his legs intact, to the outside world where he belongs.( The clip that locks the box may be moulded to the inside of the box, or made to fit on the hadle) The Spider Catcher can remove the following! Snails, Slugs, Moths, Bees, Wasps, Scopions,Stick insects, Cicada, Crickets, GrasshoppersBeetles, Crabs, Cockroach, Lizards, Cane Toads, Dead Rodents, anything that can fit inside the Spider Catcher, and of course your every day hairy Huntsman or household spider.
The Spider Catcher can also be used as a tool to pick something up from the ground if bending down is a problem. Reaching up to objects such as fruit is another use, If the Spider Catcher has an adjustable head, this would enable the user to remove small objects from high shelves etc.

Also the Spider Catcher can be used for reaching fruit high in a tree.
But the best thing about the Spider Catcher is one can catch a spider and feel safe.
No one need be afraid any more.
The Spider Catcher is strong but light weight It has a clear plastic box in which to trap the spider, thus enabling one to see the spider at all times.
The handle of the Spider Catcher is 1 meter long, and when you add the length of ones arms and the box on the end of the Spider Catcher, the contoller is approximately 2 meters away from the hairy scarey thing.

In Queensland the Cane Toad is a constant pest. Not only are they .quite agly, but they are also poisonous. The Spider Catcher is the perfect way of safely removing a Cane Toad from such places as a childrens sand pit or play area.
No one wants to pick up an usavoury creature, and the Spider Catcher is jut the thing to enable every one to feel safe, and in control of an otherwise yicky situation.

Claims (7)

1. A Spider Catcher is comprised of an opening and closing clear plastic container on one end of a handle, which on the other end has a hand grip which controls the opening and closing motion of the container. While closed the container is clipped safely shut. Bristles on the top edge of the moving sectior of the container sweep the insect into the container safely without mess or harm.
2. The Spider Catcher of claim 1 wherein a clear plastic container is attached to the end of a handle where an adjustable section is fitted to change the angle of the container to suit various angles of use, from angles of 0 to 90 degrees.
3. The Spider Catcher of claim I wherein a clip locks the container closed may be incorporated into the hand grip or be part ofthe container itself
4. The Spider Catcher of claim I wherein a rod is used to push the lid closed to trap the insect, may indeed be used in the reverse and pull the lid closed.
The Spider Catcher of claim 1 wherein bristles gently sweep the insect into the container may be a seperate section attached to the container, or part of the container itself
6. The Spider Catcher of claims 1 to 5 wherein the clear plastic container the hand grip, and any other plastic component ,may be mamnfactured by way of injection moulding
