Description
COLORED LIQUID CURTAIN The present specification relates to an Inven¬ tion Patent Application for a "COLORED LIQUID CURTAIN" for use in homes, office and factory buildings, vehicles and other uses, as well as for indoor partitions. This curtain was developed with modern technology, so as to characterize an as¬ sembly able to meet current demands and needs of esthetic and fun tional order, such as ambiental privacy and protection against sun_ shine. The "COLORED LIQUID CURTAIN" is comprised by two pa¬ rallel sheets of glass, plastic or similar transparent material having adecuate thickness in order to provide a good mechanical resistance, and having a space between the sheets, wherein a colo¬ red liquid is injected which may provide total or partial hindrance to the passage of light. The edges of the sheets are suitably sealed with an appropriate material, such as rubber, silico- ne or other to prevent the liquid's outflow, and an opening on the upper part of the glass will allow exit and entrance of air. A suitable device is used, such as a pump (of hydraulic, pneumatic or electric operation), or a cylinder with a movable piston (operated manually or by electric mo¬ tor), to inject a liquid between the sheets up to the desired level, which is also designed to remove liquid whenever the user so desires. Depending on the size or the space of the glasses, there may be small joining points, transparent or not, such as washers of about 1 mm diameter, silicone points or the like, duly glued bet¬ ween said sheets of glass, in order to avoid they come to touch one another or to move away, thus maintaining the parallelism therebetween. The "COLORED LIQUID CURTAIN" can provide partial or complete concealment of visibility in accordance with the user's need, who may select among the options offered by colored liquids a shade with the desired transparency, translucency or opaqueness. This curtain also prevents the penetration of sunshine and the consequent overheating caused by the same.
Conventional curtains manufactured with fabric, plastic or paper hereto known need bothersome cleanings from time to time and become rotten in a short time of use. They further need special support and securing and in general cover a space which is greater than that to be concealed. They are restricted to square and/or right angle shapes and they favor dust deposits and fire pro¬ pagation.
The present "COLORED LIQUID CURTAIN" presents a solution to the problem in a very simple and modern manner, and may be applied to windows or partitions having any geometric configuration. It is a glass imbedded cur¬ tain which spares cleanings, washing and does not decay easily, allowing the liquid color change in accordance with the room's dressing. It .does not interfere with the construction of the house, needs no supports or rails on the wall, and provides, in addition, a great esthetical effect.
The colored or uncolored liquid may optionally pass around a heating element, which may be an electrical resistance placed within or out of the glass and which, once contacting the liquid, will raise its temperature. In this case, the curtain will also function as a thermal curtai n. Accordingly, it can be noted that this is a curtain of liquid, which was developed to afford privacy in indoor surroundings and conceal, partially or in full, the passage of light in a high reliable manner, and also function as a thermal curtain. For a better understanding, a single drawing sheet is attached hereto, wherein Figure 1 illustrates an internal view of a colored liquid curtain and Figure 2 illustrates a section A-A along its perpen¬ dicular sense.
According to the illustrations in the above mentioned figures, the colored liquid curtain is composed by two sheets (1) of transparent material disposed in
Claims (1)
- \- 3-C L A I M S 1. "COLORED LIQUID CURTAIN", characterized in that two sheets of glass, plastic or similar transparent material are placed in parallel relationship, remaining 5 a space therebetween wherein a colored liquid is injected and which may provide total or partial concealment. The edges of the sheets are suitably sealed with an adequate material, such as rubber, silicone or the like, to prevent liquid outflow.10 2. "COLORED LIQUID CURTAIN", according to Cla m- 1 , characterized in that a suitable device, such as a pump, movable plunger or the like, is used to inject a liquid between the sheets up to the desired level. This device is also used to remove said liquid.15 3. ■ "COLORED LIQUID CURTAIN", according to Claim 1 and 2, characterized in that a liquid is used which may provide total or partial concealment, depending on its opacity chosen. 4. "COLORED LIQUID CURTAIN", according to Claims20 1, 2 and 3, characterized optionally that a heating element is used, whereby the colored or transparent liquid may be provided with a desired temperature, in which case the curtain will also function as a thermal curtain,
