Abstract
A digital cellular radio system and a receiver therefor are described in which the message transmission occurs in time-division multiplex with multiple access. In each time slot, a synchronisation preamble and an information part are transmitted which is band-spread by means of an orthogonal character set. To suppress common-channel interference which occurs due to the use of the same time slot and the same carrier frequency in adjacent cells, different synchronisation preambles are used in adjacent cells. Furthermore, a pseudo-random noise sequence is superimposed on the information part which can be formed from the synchronisation preamble used in each case. <IMAGE>
