WO 02/05056 PCT/KROO/00808 1 GAME-TYPE PRIZE DRAWING SYSTEM USING OPEN NETWORK AND METHOD THEREOF Technical Field The present invention relates to a game-type prize drawing system using an open network and a method thereof whereby if the client is given with any point in relation to the using number of the credit card, the client takes part in a prize drawing service using the point, thereby increasing the use of the open network and leading the activation of the credit card Background Art Generally, in order to secure more clients, headquarters of chain stores, distributors having selling agencies, or department stores employ special events such as a prize drawing or thank-you presents. In particular, in case of the prize drawing, a relatively expensive present or prize money may be presented to a few members who are drawn.

Since the sales are increased in the prize drawing, the effect does not continue. In addition, since drawing applications are distributed to each member, high personal expenses are needed, and the members must keep for a long time to the drawing. Also, if the members do not know about the drawn fact, or if the drawing ticket is disappeared, the drawn members can not carry off the prize. Accordingly, the object of the drawing event may attenuate.

Recently, according to the rapid increase of the open network, the Internet shopping malls or advertising sites are increased. The Internet shopping mall or advertising sites utilize the prize drawing system in which a prize is presented to a client by drawing. However, the members must keep for a long time to the drawing, and the members do not know about the drawn fact.

Background Art It is an object of the present invention to solve the problems involved in the prior art, and to provide a game-type prize drawing system and a method thereof using an open network, whereby if the client is given with any point in relation to the using number of the credit card, the client takes part in a prize drawing service by using the point, thereby increasing the use of the open network and leading the activation of the credit card.

In order to achieve the above object, according to one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a system for drawing a prize using an open network, the system comprising: a prize drawing server including an approval section for approving an prize application with reference to business particulars of each client's credit card, a managing section for obtaining an approval information regarding the prize application of each client from the approval section to manage a prize drawing of each client, and a game program operating section, controlled by the managing section, for operating a game program; a data base server including a client data base for storing a list of clients having the prize application approved by the approval section, a game program data base for storing several game programs, a client's point data base for storing points of each client, and an affiliated company's point data base for storing points of each affiliated company; and a script for reading a data WO 02/05056 PCT/KROOIOO/80 8 3 from the data bases of the data base server; wherein if the client connects to a home page of a credit card company through the open network, and selects any one of drawingtype prize games or application obtaining match games, after the selected game is played during a desired time, a prize drawing result by the game is displayed, or a winner is determined by the managing section according to the game result and an application of a loser is transferred to the winner relative to a win.

According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method for drawing a prize, the method comprising the steps of: laying a point as per predetermined sum of money by that the approval section periodically refers actual results of the credit card of the client; storing the client's information having the prize application according to the point in the client data base; examining a home page of a credit card company by the client through an internet web site; inputting a client's ID; displaying an image for selecting a game menu; determining whether the game selected by the client is a drawing-type prize game or an application obtaining match game; after the game is selected, playing the game during a desired time; and if the game is a drawing-type prize game, displaying a prize drawing result by the game, or if the game is an application obtaining match game, determining a winner according to the game result and transferring an application of a loser to the winner relative to a win.

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention The preferred embodiment of the present invention will now be explained in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the following description of the present invention, a detailed description of known functions and configurations incorporated herein will be omitted when it may make the subject matter of the present invention rather unclear.

As shown in FIG. i, the present invention is a system for drawing a prize using an open network. The system comprises a prize drawing server 13 including an approval section 14 for approving an prize application with referring to business particulars of each client's credit card, a managing section for obtaining an approval information regarding the prize application of each client from the approval section 14 to manage a prize drawing of each client, and a game program operating section 16, controlled by the managing section for operating a game program, a data base server 32 including a client data base 18 for storing a list of clients having the prize application approved by the approval section 14, a game program data base 19 for storing several game programs, a client's point data base 30 for storing points of each client, and an affiliated company's point data base 31 for storing points of each affiliated company, a script 17 for reading out a data from the data bases of the data base server 32.

Also, the system comprises a security system 12 which is a firewall for preventing the information saved in the server 13 from leaking without permission.

Specifically, a. method for drawing a prize using the prize drawing system comprises the steps of laying a point as per predetermined sum of money by the approval section 14 periodically refers actual results of the credit card of the client (step S200), storing the client information having the prize application according to the point in the client data base (step S201), examining a home page of a credit card company by the client through an internet web site (steps 5202 and S203), inputting a client's ID (step S204), displaying an image for selecting a game menu (step 3205), determining whether the game selected by the client is a drawing-type prize game or an application obtaining match game (steps 3206 and S207), after the game is selected, playing the game during a desired time (steps 3208 and S209), and if the game is a drawing-type prize game, displaying a prize drawing result by the game (step S210 and 3211), or if the game is an application obtaining match game, determining a winner according to the game result and transferring an application of a loser to the winner relative to a win (steps S212 and S213).

The operation of the present system as constructed above will be explained in details.

First, if the client uses his/her credit card in a affiliated shop or bank (lump sum payment, allotment, cash service, etc.), the information related to business particulars of each transaction client is transferred to the prize drawing server 13 of the credit card company from the affiliated shop or the affiliated bank. The prize application approval section 14 of the prize drawing server 13 accumulate points as a predetermined money at the time of the use of the WO 02/05056 PCT/KROO/00808 6 credit card in the affiliation shop or bank, and provide the prize application for each transaction client. For example, one point is accumulated 'as 10,000 won and one prize application per one point is provided.

In any case, the prize application approval section 14 checks whether the prize application according to a point score exists, and determines whether the client has the prize application. Thereafter, if it is verified that the client has the prize application, the prize application approval section 14 stores the prize application in the client database 18 via the script 17.

The prize application also can be provided according to the mileage point ratio, if the mileage point is over a predetermined score according to the business of the credit card in approval step by the prize application approval section 14.

In the state that the database 18 stores the information on the prize application given by the transaction contents of many clients, the client connects to the home page of the desired credit card company. And then, if the client inputs his/her ID, the several game menu images are displayed on a terminal monitor.

The above game menu can be classified largely with the drawing prize game and the application obtaining match game.

The drawing prize game draws the prize, and comprises a slot machine, a bingo game, a lottery game, etc. The application obtaining match game transfers any point of the loser to the winner in proportion to a win score, which is defermined through the match game, and comprises Patrick's and Starcraft game.

If the client selects any one of the drawing prize game such as slot machine, bingo game, lottery game, etc. with reference to the game menu displayed on the terminal monitor, WO 02/05056 PCT/KR00/00808 7 the prize drawing manage sections 15 receives the selection signal and drives the game program activator 16. The prize drawing manage sections 15 then reads out a corresponding game program from the game program database 19 via the script 17, and plays the game program.

For example, the client can play five lottery games per one point. Therefore, the client enjoys with the game as times according to the accumulated point score.

Since all of the drawing-type prize game is a probability game, the prize drawing manage sections 15 determines whether the client is drawn, and displays a rize drawing results such as "sir client, congratulate on your prize winning" on the monitor.

If the client selects the application obtaining match game, in which the game is played by two clients, the prize drawing manage sections 15 receives the selection signal and drives the game program activator 16. The prize drawing manage sections 15 then reads out the corresponding game program from the game program database 19 via the script 17, and progresses the game program, as same process as above-described.

For example, if client A obtains 50 scores and client B obtains 100 scores through that they play the Patrick's games selected from the match game, the prize drawing manage sections 15 checks and compares the scores of the players to determine a winner. And then, the prize drawing manage sections 15 transfers an application point of the client A, who is a loser, to the client B, who is a winner.

Also, supposing that the point 10 corresponds to one point of the application, if the point of the client B is scores, the client A may obtain 5 points of the application from the client B.

At that time, if the client A obtains 5 points of the application as result of the game, the prize drawing manage WO 02/05056 PCT/KROO/00808 8 section 15 stores 5 points of the application in the client point data base 30 in the name of the client A.

Also, if the client is drawn through the drawing-type prize game, the client can obtain a prize as a non-passbook deposit form of a bank, or the client can buy some articles corresponding to the prize in the affiliated shopping mall linked to the homepage of the credit card. The latter is the case that the prize is used as electronic money.

Also, if the prize, which is not drawn, is existed after the prize drawing as above-described, the drawing-type prize can be replayed to give the drawing chance for the prize application to other client at a predetermined point of time.

Meanwhile, members of the affiliated company can visit in any credit card's homepage. At that time, the member of the affiliated company obtains the prize application according to associated conditions, and participate in the drawing-typed prize game or the application obtaining match game as described above.

Also, the prize applications can be given to the owners of the affiliated shops in order to lead them to visit on the homepage of the credit card.

From the foregoing, it will be apparent that the prize drawing system of the present invention may prevent the client's information from leaking by any hacker by constructing the security system 12 which is a firewall for preventing the client's information from leaking without permission.

While this invention has been described in connection with what is presently considered to be the most practical and preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that other modifications thereof may be made without departing from the scope of the invention. Thus, the invention should not be limited to the disclosed embodiment, but should be defined by WO 02/05056 PCT/KR00/00808 9 the scope of the appended claims and their equivalents.

Industrial Applicability With the present invention as described above, the user of a credit card is provided with a prize drawing service through several games and informs himself/herself of the drawing results promptly, thereby increasing the use of the open network and leading the activation of the credit card.

2. A method for drawing a prize using the prize drawing system claimed in claim 1, the method comprising the steps of: laying a point as per predetermined sum of money by that the approval section 14 periodically refers actual results of WO 02/05056 PCTKROO/00808 11 the credit card of the client; storing the client's information having ihe prize application according to the point in the client data base; examining a home page of a credit card company by the client through an internet web site; inputting a client's ID; displaying an image for selecting a game menu; determining whether the game selected by the client is a drawing-type prize game or an application obtaining match game; after the game is selected, playing the game during a desired time; and if the game is a drawing-type prize game, displaying a prize drawing result by the game, or if the game is an application obtaining match game, determining a winner according to the game result and transferring an application of a loser to the winner relative to a win.
3. The method as claimed in claim 2, wherein if a prize, which is not drawn, is existed, the drawing-type prize game is replayed.

The method as claimed in claim 2, wherein at the approving step, if a mileage point according to used records of the credit card is above a predetermined point, a prize application is provided relative to the point ratio. The method as claimed in claim 2 further comprising the steps of obtaining a prize application according to associated conditions, and participating in the drawing-type prize game or the application obtaining match game, when an associated client visits the home page of the credit card company.
