Abstract

The invention concerns a portable electronic device, such as a smart card (1), for receiving and displaying data derived from an external source. The invention is characterised in that it comprises a contactless communication interface (8) and means for presenting on the display unit (10) information on the basis of data received from said contactless interface. The invention is particularly applicable to smart cards used to provide access to specific zones such as airport boarding gates.
