a a Name of Applicant(s): Actual Inventor(s): Address for Service: Invention Title: CHIU-KUEI WANG CHIU-KUEI WANG CULLEN CO., Patent Trade Mark Attorneys, 240 Queen Street, Brisbane, Qld. 4000, Australia.
FRAME FOR RECEIVING A LICENSE PLATE THEREIN The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me:la FRAME FOR RECEIVING A LICENSE PLATE THEREIN The present utility model relates to a frame for receiving a license plate therein and more particularly, to a frame which receives a license plate of a car and has a transparent plate covered on the license plate.
Generally. a car has two license plates. one of which is fixedly disposed to or above a front bumper and the other license plate is fixedly disposed to or above a rear bumper of the car. Some owners of cars have their license plates to be vanity plates, each of which has a decorate frame disposed to four sides of the license plate such as a decorate frame with a special color or a special configuration.
The present utility model intends to provide a frame which includes an upper portion and a lower portion which is connected to the upper portion by tkwo connecting member, such a frame is combined without us ing any tools and has a transparent plate covered on the license plate so as to mitigate and/or obviate the above-mentioned problems.
The present utility model provides a frame for 20 receiving a license plate therein and comprises an upper portion including a first horizontal part and a first end part extending perpendicularly from each one of two ends of the first horizontal part so as to form an inverted U-shaped configuration. The upper portion has a U-shaped cross section which includes a first base plate and two first side plates respectively extend from two opposite sides of the first base plate so as to define a first receiving groove between the two first side plates and the first base plate. Each of the 2 first side plates has a first inner flange folded inwardly from a free end thereof so as to define a first aroove between the first inner flange and the first side plate. Each of the first end parts has a first hole defined in the first base plate thereof.
A lower portion has the same structure as that of the upper portion and includes a second horizontal part and a second end part extending perpendicularly from each one of two ends of the second horizontal part. The lower portion has a U-shaped cross section which includes a second base plate and two second side plates respect ively extend fron two opposite sides of the second base plate so as to define a second receiving groove between the two second side plates o* and the second base plate. Each of the second side plates has a second inner fiance folded inwardly from a free end thereof so as to def ine a second groove betw een the second inner flange and the second side plate. Each of the second end parts has a second hole defined in the second base plate thereof.
20 Two connecting members each include a middle plate and two arm plates respect ively extend perpendicularly f romi two sides of the middle plate, the middle plate having a boss extending from each one of two ends thereof such that the two connecting members are respectively disposed between the first end part and the second end part corresponding thereto by inserting the arm plates into the first grooves and the second grooves and inserting the two bosses into the first 3 hole and the second hole corresponding thereto.
Accordingly, the license plate and a transparent plate are received in the first receiving groove and the second receiving groove of the frame.
It is an object of the present utility model to provide a frame for receiving a license plate therein and the combination of the license plate and the frame is achieved without using tools.
It is another object of the present utility model to provide a frame which equipped with a transparent plate covered on the license plate so as to protect the license plate from being damaged.
Other objects, advantages. and novel features of the i" utility model will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the
I
a*c' accomlpanying drawings.
In the drawings: Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a frame in which a license plate and a transparent plate are received and all of 20 which is disposed to a car shown in phantomi lines; .Fig. 2 is an exploded view of part of the frame and a connecting member in accordance with the present utility model Fig. 3 is a top plan elevational view, partly in section, of a combination of the frame, the license'piate and the transparent plate, and Fig. 4 is a side elevational view, partly in section, of a part of the combination of the frame, the license plate 4 and the transparent plate.
Referring to Figs. 1 through 4, a frame in accordance with the present utility model generally includes, an upper portion 10 including a first horizontal part 101 and a first end part 102 extending perpendiculariy from each one of two ends of the first horizontal part 101 so as to form an inverted U-shaped configuration. The upper portion 10 has a U-shaped cross section which includes a first base plate 11 and two first side plates 12 respect ively extend from two opposite sides of the first base plate 11 so as to define a first receiving groove 13 between the tw'o first side plates 12 and the first base plate 11. Each of the first side plates 12 has a first inner flange 14 folded inwardly from a free end thereof so as to define a first groove 15 between the 15 first inner flange 14 and the first side plate 12. Each of the first end parts 102 has a first hole 16 defined in the first base plate 11 thereof.
1. A lower portion 20 includes a second horizontal part 201 and a second end part 202 extending perpendicularly from i. 20 each one of two ends of the second horizontal part 201 so as to form a U-shaped configuration. The lower portion 20 has a U-shaped cross section which includes a second base plate 21 and two second side plates 22 respectively extend from two opposite sides of the second base plate 21 so as to. define a second receiving groove 23 between the two second side plates 22 and the second base plate 21. Each of the second side plates 22 has a second inner flange 24 folded inwardly from a 5 a 15 i a free end thereof so as to define a second groove 25 between the second inner flange 24 and the second side plate 22. Each of the second end parts 202 has a second hole 26 defined in the second base plate 21 thereof.
A transparent plate 40 is covered on the license plate and both of which are received in the frame with four sides of the transparent plate 40 and the license plate are received in the first receiving groove 13 of the upper portion 10 and the second receiving groove 23 of the lower portion Two connecting members 30 each include a middle plate 32 and two arm plates 31 respectively extend perpendicularly from two sides of the middle plate 32. The middle plate 32 has a boss 33 extending from each one of two ends thereof such that the two connecting members 30 are respectively disposed between the first end part 102 and the second end part 202 corresponding thereto by inserting the arm plates 31 into the first grooves 15 and the second grooves 25 and inserting the two bosses 33 into the first hole 16 and the second hole 26 corresponding thereto.
Accordingly, when assembling the frame and the license plate 50 together with the transparent plate 40, an assembler needs no tools or screws. he/she just receives the license plate 50 and the transparent plate 40 into the first receiving groove 13 and the second receiving groove 23 and connects the upper portion 10 and the lower portion 20 by two connecting members 30 to let the bosses 33 received in the first holes 16 and the second holes 26.
