Description

Title A square Goal for a Ball Game The present invention relates in particular and generally to the conventional basketball hoop and backboard.
Background of the Invention.
The primary object was to create and provide a non contact team sports ball game that wasent too difficult to play on court roller or Ice rink by bouncing a No 7 or No5 or lesser sized inflatable ball with the hand. A game where height or strength was of no advantage to a player bouncing a ball inserting it through a elevated horizontal hoop scoring points Therefore by utilizing the conventional basketball Backboard hoop, net and other customary sports amenities in schools sports centers and other places a new ball game could be played successfully on court or rink at little cost.
The Invention Relates to Improvement in Sport I have observed over the years basketball being played and practiced in schools sports centers and other place I have been witness to such happenings along with others who have observed the basketball get stuck between hoop and backboard in addition the loops of the net come adrift from the goal which isn't uncommon in basketball played on school play grounds and other places used as a goal or sports practice apparatus a most common sports item in the household backyard that can be a danger to small immature players especially when the ball gets stuck between hoop and backboard or when the loops of the goal net come adrift from the hoop To dislodge the basketball ball from between hoop and backboard the exuberant youth in schools play grounds in backyard and in other places put themselves and others in 20 a precarious position in their effort to dislodge the basketball especialy when there is no supervision or stepladder available the youths throw missiles stand on another youths shoulder climb the goal post in a S effort to dislodge the ball or put the net loops that have come adrift back in place Summary of the Invention 2. The innovation of such a square goal having four equal side made in steel rod or tube or any other suitable durable material made in the form of a Diamond means that its almost impossible and not practical for a No 7 or No 5 inflated ball to get lodged between the square goal in the form of a diamond and backboard the innovation of such a goal overcomes the shortcoming of the conventional basketball hoop The d-d hook net fixture overcomes the shortcomings of the prior net hook, The d-d hook as illustrated drawing sheet 1 Fig 2 &3 the d-d hook with rolled tounge alone is as effective as any hook employed to hold the net in place However Drawing 1 &2 Fig 4 illustrates the cord laced through the 12 d-d net hooks with rolled tounge the cord is fastened at the rear before fitting the net loops to d-d hooks to fit the net to the hook place the loop between d-d hook over cord down over and under rolled tounge of d-d hook then pull the loop back to the underside as illustrated Fig 5 Consequently the loops of the net cant be removed with the thrust of the ball or natural means or anything unforeseen the loops of the S net can only be removed manually by following a simple procedure therefore there is no need to undo the cord to remove or fit a new net not only does the cord keep the net in place it protects the loops to some degree prolonging the life of the net indoor and out door a colored cord makes the square goal more attractive adding depth to the square goal as such that points to center of the invention The Primary Object Was to provide a goal where the ball wouldn't get stuck and the loops would not come adrift a goal that would be easily installed as a complete unit in schools sports centers and other places economical to manufacture interchangeable as a replacement with existing basketball or netball hoop or any such like goal Importantly a safe and satisfactory goal for a specific new ball game Therefor the square goal in the form of a diamond creates diversity a wider distribution of the ball among players in addition a new challenge for the skilled and others encouraging people to compete in a sports ball game or practice unit during recreation a source of amusement that gives pleasure to those who compete aiming insert a inflated round ball through such a square goal reduced in size from the conventional round goal There are apprehensive people who lack in courage to participate in a established boisterous team ball game where players congregate bump shove slam dunk create congestion in the goal area Therefore the invention assists the apprehensive person or persons to overcome there fear of congestion as the innovation of the invention creates diversity the unexpected a wider distribution of the ball from rebounds among players who have little or no way of knowing which way the ball will rebound therefore innovation creates a wider distribution of the ball assisting the apprehensive to overcome there fear of congestion Unlike the conventional hoop that creates inequality among players by favoring tall players because no matter from where the ball is thrown or from wherever it strikes the hoop the ball rebounds in the direction from where it was thrown therefore there is no diversity of the ball in a congested area. Consequently the invention as such manufactured in an entire range of different size goal to suit the entire range of inflatable ball from No 7 or lesser size overcomes the shortcomings of the hoop Brief Description of drawings and figures The figures in drawing sheetl 2 are briefly described as follows Drawing sheet one Fig 1 is a plan view of the present invention Fig 2 is a perspective view of the of the present invention Fig 3 illustrates the d-d hook with rolled tounge Fig 4 demonstrates a further advancement with cord and rope splice Fig 5 illustrates a section of Fig 1 Fig 2 Fig 3 Fig 4 &7 Fig 6 illustrates rope splice prior to being crimped Fig 7 illustrates indecates all parts from 1 to Drawing sheet 2 Fig 8 illustrates the invention in an elevated horizontal position fixed to a blackboard. Also Figl.Fig3.Fig5. Fig6.
*Detailed Description of integral parts of Invention SDrawing sheet 2 Fig 8 numbers indicate 1 to 12 in order as such 1 is the steel goal frame in the form of a diamond 2 is the right angle metal goal support bracket 3 is the weld that joins 1 2 combining goal frame and support bracket as a single unit 4 indecates four horizontal elongate holes for fixing and level adjustment in addition easily installed or as a replacement for the hoop 5 position of perch 6 U brace welded tol, 2 5 as illustrated (Figl) 7 is the rope splice that secures both ends of the cord. 8 indecates to 12 d-d rolled tounge hooks equally spaced welded to the underside of 1 the square goal frame 9 indecates to cord laced through rolled tounge d-d hooks the ends of the cord are spliced at rear 10 indecates conventional net 11 is the backboard to which the invention is fastened in a elevated horizontal position 12 is the upright post that supports backboard and square goal in the form of a diamond Drawings serve only as illustrations.
While certain novel features of this invention have been shown and described and are pointed out in the annexed claims it will be understood that various omissions substitutions and changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and its operation can be made by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit of the invention 9*
