Abstract

Method for guiding along a predetermined path a moving object which can move freely on a supporting area. It is characterized in that at the area (2) on which the moving object (1) to be guided is displaced, there is formed a passive guiding element (3) made of magnetically permeable and electrically insulating material (5) and, by means of a guiding assembly (6) provided on the moving object (1), there is detected, amongst materials forming the movement area, the presence of magnetically permeable and electrically insulating materials, materials which are magnetically permeable and conductors of electricity and materials which are magnetically non-permeable and conducting and, for each of these detected materials there are elaborated characteristic signals which are then processed so as to isolate the signal representative of the presence of the magnetically permeable and electrically insulating material and the selected signal is addressed to a means (12) which supplies information on the presence and/or absence of the guiding element (3) in the vicinity of the sensor (8). Application to guiding materials for the blind.
