Abstract

The invention concerns a method for downloading at least a file stored in a Web or FTP server centre (14) to a workstation (10) connected to the access network of a provider of access (12) to a computer network wherein the central service (14) is located, said method consisting in transmitting to the access provider a downloading request containing the address of the file to be downloaded and in retrieving the file in response to a transmission order sent by the access provider (12) to the central service (14). The file is sent to the workstation (10) via a gateway associated with the access network.
