COMPLETE SPECIFICATION STANDARD PATENT Invention Title: *The following statement Is a full description of this Invention, Including the best method of performing it known to me:- *go* Second statement of proposed amendments. 2&T 2.
A NESTABLE, HANDCASTING, FISHING DEVICE.
This invention relates to improvements to fishing handcasting reels.
For maney people going out on fishing trips the bulkiness of existing hand casting reels, of which they generally carry more than one, took up more space than desirable in the fishing bag or creel.
There have been maney proposals to improve the design of handoasting reels, with handles for winding and lights for night fishing but none have attempted to reduce the storage space required by 0 more than one handline reel, or utilise the s advantages gained by being able to nest one handcasting reel inside another of identical shape.
These problems have been overcome by the present invention, which provides a nestable hancasting fishing device comprising of a frustum shaped spool with the angle large enough to permit nesting of two or more handreels and long enough to give a guide to assist the winding on of line into a trough at the narrow end of the frustum, deep and wide enough to hold the desired capacity of fishing line.
In one form of the invention the large end the frustrum has one or more scoops around the periphery to assist in holding the handcasting reel and for control while winding on or casting off the fishing line. 5/e 3.
In another form of the invention the nesting reels can be held together by releasable fasteners which may comprise of integral projections resiliently biased towards each other such that the projections grip when two or more handreels are pushed together.
In the drawings: Fig. 1 shows an example of the nestable, handcasting, fishing device according to this invention.
Fig. 2 shows the operation of such a nestable, handcasting, fishing device when two devices are nested and releasably fastened %gether.
Refering to Fig. 1 it can be seen that the nestable, too "handcasting, fishing device according to this invention comprises of a frustum shaped spool 1 shaped at such an angle as to allow nesting of one identical reel into another and also to guide the fishing line down towards the narrow end of the frustum. The large end of the frustum 1 comprises of one or more scoops 2 shaped and formed deep enough to hold the reel by hand and control usually by the thumb, the fishing line 3 as it is wound into or cast out of the trough 4.
The trough 4 is formed deep and wide enough to hold the required capacity of line 3 and is also comprised of a rounded flange 5 shaped to permit the free casting of the said line from the trough end of
Claims (6)
1. A nestable, hancasting, fishing device comprising of a frustum shaped spool where a trough encircles the small end of the frustum formed deep and wide enough to hold the required capacity of fishing line and at the larger end of the frustum are formed one or more scoops to assist in holding the reel and control the fishing line in the said trough.
2. The nestable, handcasting, fishing device of se "claim 1 wherein the trough at the small end of the frustum is formed by a sudden reduction in frustum diameter to a required depth before resuming a smaller frustum size and then travelling the required distance before rising back up to form a retaining wall for the fishing line retention.
3. The nesting handcasting fishing device of claim 2 wherin the retaining wall to form the end of the said trough is shaped in such a way as to permit free casting of the said fishing line from the reel.
4. The nestable handcasting fishing reel device of claim 1 wherin a number of scoops between say one and ten are formed around the periphery of the lprger end of the frustum to assist in holding the hantdcasting reel and controlling the line while the line iS being cast or wound onto the handcasting reel. 6, The nestable bandcasting fis,:hing device of claims I to 4 wherein. two identical handcasting reels as described herein are nested together and while in a releasable fastened state together, can rotate with one reel using the other reel as a pivot.
6. The nesting hancasting fishing device of claims I to 4 wherein where two identical hancasting reels are in a releasable fastened state together, the fishing line coming from the trough of the inside rotating said reel can pass through one of the scoops of the stationary outside reel.
7. A nestable hancasting fishing device *sees:substantially as herein described with reference to the aocompanying drawings.
