Limited Road 2208 DAVIES COLLISON CAVE Patent Trade Mark Attorneys Level 10, 10 Barrack Street SYDNEY NSW 2000 Display stand hook The following statement is a full description of best method of performing it known to me:this invention, including the j 5020 L I -1- This invention relates to a mounting means, and whilst not limited thereto is particularly applicable to form support brackets for use with display stands.
L t One form of display stand used in the retail trade is a peg board ie a board having an array of holes spaced evenly over the surface of the board. The mounting means of the present invention is for mounting a peg board. The bracket may be used for the display of merchandise.
In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a mounting for removable attachment to a peg board including a base board having an array of holes therein, the mounting comprising a base member, hook means and projection means extending from said base member, said hook means and projection means being disposed in spaced apart relation so that in a mounted position on the peg board said hook means and projection means are engagable with different holes therein, characterised in that said projection means comprises a peg having a bifurcated head portion which permits resilient deformation therein.
The hook means and projection means may been formed so that the mounting is attached to the peg board by entering the hook means into a first hole of the peg board and then swinging the attachment means to cause the hook means to pass through the first hole and to enter the projection means into the second hole in the peg board.
The hook means may be so formed, that when the mounting is attached to the peg 25 board, withdrawal of the hook means is restricted by engagement of the sidewardly extending end portion of the hook means.
Preferably the mounting includes an arm extending from the base member.
I Atto I 41 The present invention may include a price indicator.
The invention will now be described by way of a non-limiting example and with reference to the accompanying illustrations.

((1 In the preferred embodiment the mounting is a support bracket. The bracket has an arm 1 fixed to a base member 2 and extending therefrom. The arm 1 is shown as broken in all figures to indicate that it may be of varying length.
The arm 1 is provided with upper and lower stiffening ribs 3 and 4 which merge into the base member 2 thus forming the arm 1 and base member 2 into a rigid structure. The free end of the arm 1 is formed into an up-turned lip end The rear face 8 of the base member 2 is preferably substantially planar and is provided with a hook member 6 and a peg 7. The hook member 6 projects from the rear face 8 substantially normally then curls upwardly in a substantially J-shaped configuration.
The peg 7 projects substantially normally from the rear face 8 below that of the hook member 6. The peg 7 has a slot 9 which divides the peg into two resilient protrusions and 11. Each protrusion has a head 12 at its free end.
Together the heads 12 form a bifurcated head portion with a larger dimension of the peg 7 near the free end of the peg than prevails at the remainder of peg 7.
The support bracket may include a price indicator similar to that shown in Australian Patent Application No.
62381/90. The price indicator (not shown) pivotally connects into collar 15 which is on the upper end of base member 2 adjacent to hook member 6.
In use the support bracket is attached to a vertical peg board 14 (a portion of which is shown in Figures 3 and 4) by holding the bracket in a position where the peg 7 projects downwardly (as shown in Figure and the free end of upper hook member 6 can be introduced into a hole 16a of the peg board 14. Once the hook'member 6 is introduced into hole 16a, the bracket can be turned clockwise as shown in the drawings such that peg 7 can align with hole 16b which is below hole 16a. The diameter formed by the heads 12 of peg 7 is slightly larger than hole 16b of the peg board 14.
However, the slot 9 allows for protrusions 10 and 11 to be resiliently urged towards each other by engagement with the hole 16b, thereby reducing the diameter formed by the heads 0534v/MS -3- 12 and allowing them to enter as the peg 7 is pushed into hole 16b. When heads 12 of the peg 7 pass through to the other side of hole 16b, the protrusions 10 and 11 resume their original position due to natural resilience of the peg, thus holding the bracket in place as shown in Figure 4. The bracket can be removed by reversing the attachment procedure, ie. urging the peg 7 out of the hole 16b and turning the bracket counter clockwise such that the hook member 6 can be removed from the hole 16a.
In the preferred embodiment the bracket is conveniently made from plastics material in a moulding operation.
It will be appreciated that the bracket of the invention has uses other than for display of:goods. It may, for example be used to support any convenient type of Sarticle such as motor vehicle parts, shelving, tools and the like.
The described mounting has the advantage that it can be easily mounted to a peg board. The provision of the resiliently deformable peg assists in this regard. If, as shown the slot 9 is transverse to the base member 2, the two protrusions 10 and 11 can be most easily resiliently compressed towards each other during fixing of the mounting i S* to the peg board.
It is also helpful that rear surface 8 is planar such 'that, when the mounting is attached to the peg board, it abuts the surface of the peg board.
It should be obvious to persons skilled in the art that numerous variations and modifications could be made to the apparatus as described and with reference to the illustrations without departing from the overall scope or spirit of the invention.
