"The device uses the water reticulation system to flush a container requiring cleaning, and disposes of the waste into a toilet bowl. Examples of containers, which may be cleaned with this apparatus, include medical supplies, such as colostomy bags, and scientific equipment, such as beakers or plastic bags in which supplies are provided.
This invention is capable of cleaning and washing any container with waste or residue, which is safe to pass through the sewerage system and which has an aperture capable of being fitted or locked onto a plastic fitting. The device provides a quick, hygienic and safe means of disposing of waste derived from cleaning receptacles, without contacting the waste or residue.
The fitting is constructed from plastic and neoprene, the central element ofthe invention being a cylindrical pipe 2, suspended on a plastic board I, laid across the top of a toilet bowl. Within this cylinder 2 is a concentric pipe 7, which has the effect of dividing the device into two concentric cylindrical compartments. TIle outer compartment provides an inlet 4 for water to flush receptacles requiring cleaning. The inner cylindrical compartment 7 provides a passage for the disposal of waste or residue 20 into a toilet bowl. Water enters the outer cylinder 2 through an inlet nipple 4 attached to the outside of the device, The inlet nipple 4, in turn, is connected to the water reticulation system through a hose with standard reticulation connections at both ends.
The receptacle requiring cleaning is clipped to the top of the outer cylinder of the device at the clip on section 3. When the tap of the water reticulation system is turned on, water flows through the hose, through the inlet nipple 4, into and up the outer 4$ cylinder 2, building up a pressure, which forces the opening of a cylindrical value 8 at the top of the outer ylinder 2. Water surges through the receptacle requiring cleaning.
Waste and/or residue is forced down through the centre cylinder 7 into the bottom of the toilet bowl. The flow ofpressurised water into and out of the flexible receptacles i or containers causes then to pulsate, thus assisting the cleaning process. Tlie toilet p i 3 bowl is then flushed and the waste is transported into the sewerage system The description of the drawings included in the applicaton and specification is for a eolostomy bag cleaner. Drawing is full scale. One oblong shaped support I is placed on top of the toilet bowl after the lid and seat have been lifted. This oblong shaped support I has a recessed hole in the centre, to support cylindrical main body 2, by locating same therein, after the standard water hose connection has been snapped on.
Main body 2 is cylindrical with clip on section 3 to hold the colostomy bag in position.
Standard inlet nipple 4 includes o-ring 5 to give a wateritight seal. Neoprene flap 6 stops odour front escaping from the tait. Lower cylinder sleeve 7 is glued to the main body 2 to ensure for its proper alignment and reciprocal movement of the spray cylinder 8 in response to the pressure or absence ofwater pressure. Upward movement of the spray cylinder 8 allows water to spray from the outer cylinder 2 into the colostomy bag. Valve body 8 consists of two sleeves, namely an inner one, the movable spray cylinder and an outer one, a fixed sleeve, connected together by ribs, which allow water under high pressure to move upwards, moving spray cylinder 8 out of the main body 2 and into the bag to allow for quick and easy cleaning. The contents of the bag is diluted and allowed to flow down through the centre of spraying cylinder 8, lower sleeve 7 to extension tube 9 and finally into the teilet pan. End cap 10, which is fitted over the end of extension tube 9, is to stop any waste escaping before cleaning commences. It is important to note, that this end cap 10 must be removed before Scleaning commences.
T 'Ih unit consists offour parts Part no 1 Support Bracket 1 Part no 2 Main body 2 glued to Inner Cylinder 7, Spray Cylinder 8, Bag Clip 3, Inlet valve 4.
Part no 3 Extenslon tube 9 Part no 4 End cap
