T
fhe school bus warning safety system comprises a hazard ,light or lights or equivalent visual or audio warning .system on the front and back or prominent position visable to approaching traffic of the school bus, bein~ /0 activated by an electronic system or similiar devise which is activated by the opening of the school bus or passenger vehicle door, activating switch mounted on the vehicles console or dashboard convenient to 1 the ope r ator, a s w ell a s a n i nt erio r li ght o r au d io i ndi c ator, wh ic h a ctiv a tes euri .rrrtgrrr I when the external warming system is activated.
1.
-2i~ii The electronics include a pre-programmed timer which re-sets and de-activates the vehicle's warning safety system automatically when engaged. The electronic devise has a built in delay timing components to prevent damgage to the system when the vehicle is started or has a similiar power flutuation.
The system includes the provision for the connection of a variable volt relay so as the safety system can be fitted to the vehicle's built in ,e lectrical system.
0. 0 o-To assist with understanding the invention, referrence will now be made to the 0t ccompanying drawing which demonstrates on example of the invention.
the drawings: 0a 0000 I shows a diagram of the school bus warning system in use fitted to a school bus on a typical rural road.
0 keferring to Fig. I it can be seen that the school bus warning safety system comprises external warning devises 1. and 2. at each end of the bus. When 1 the bus door 3. opens, the school bus warning system activates the external warning devises which are mounted at the front and rear of the vehicle.
-3- When the bus door 3. closes, the school bus warning safety system 1. and 2.
continues to activate the external warning devises for a predetermined time interval this provides for a travel distance warning to approaching vehicle's 4 when the designated time interval lapses, the school bus warning system stops.
