The object of the invention is to provide a knob which incorporates a conventio- il removable multi-pin tumbler type oval cylinder. In a door knob set wherein an oval cylinder can be fitted, such provisions means that a common oval cylinder can likewise be used in several other applications requiring keyed locking, such as for 0 0 mortise locks, padlocks, window locks and the like.
1: 10 The object of having the convenience of removal 0. cylinders enables locksmiths to provide a range of cylinders that have been keyed in accordance with particular situations for an establishment where this type of keying is specified.
Another object of applying removable cylinders to keyed a 15 lock applications, is the convenience wherein the range of cylinders can be easily changed by persons such as authorised locksmiths or other authorised persons with the appropriate skills.
j A still further object of the invention is that where existing establishmets have similar keyed knob sets fitted, the existing keyed knobs can be removed and the knob with removal oval cylinder can replace it. Thus providing readily changeable key security.

i i Figure 4 shows a sectional view of knob with keyed !i cylinder 3 in position and with pins 2 located within the hole in cylinder 3 to retain the said cylinder within the knob.
Knob base 4 which is removed from previous knob set is attached to the knob 1 to enable the unit to be replaced in position on the door.
It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that i further embodiments and modifications of the invention I described are possible without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention.

Claims (3)

1. A door knob wherein provision is made to accept a conventional multi-pin tumbler-type oval -ylinder, key operable and interchangeable with sinm.lar multi-pin type oval cylinders fitted to mortise locks, window locks padlocks and the like, the knob being capable of being operatively attached to an existing knob base fixed to a door thereby replacing an existing keyed knob which has been removed from the base.
