39 Monash Road, GKladesv~ill,, N.S.W. 2111 Luaiano Rue&lla Address for Service: 39 M~onash Rorad, GKladesville, N.S.W. 2111 Complete Specification for the invention entitled: override Security Lock 0 The following tametis a full description of this invention, including the best method of Arforming it known to me:- N *Note: The description is to be typed in double spacing, pica type face, in an area not exceeding 9~'in deA and 61" in width, on tough white paper of good quality and it is to be inserted inside this form. 0 176/2LW. G. Murray, Govermarit Printer. Canberra 0~' i 1. The invention has been designed to allow its user to override key-operated,barrel-locking security systems such as the type found on doors, windows, padlocks, activation switches and the like. Upon activation of the invention, access can only be gained by firstly de-activating the invention, and secondly, unlocking the overridden lock with its corresponding key.
Prior to the design of the invention, unauthorised access to property and/or possessions by people in possession of a key to gain such access could only 0 .a o be prevented by changing the lock and/or key-barrel Op 00 0 00 of the unsecured door, window, padlock, activation 0 0o00 switch and the like. This would normally entail °oooo 0° engaging a locksmith, with subsequent re-issue of 0ooo new keys for the replacement lock to authorised personnel. The invention seeks to remove the need to replace a redundant lock and/or key-barrel in order 0 0 0o0a to deny unauthorised access to intruders in 0 0 0 possession of a key to gain such access. The 0 invention also seeks to deter the potential thief or ooa t 0° intruder from picking an unprotected lock, as it is a lock in itself, therefore increasing the Sdifficulty of intrusion.
METHOD OF OPERATION Figure 1 depicts a cross-sectional view of the -1- @J .L 1. invention.
Figure 2 depicts a cross-sectional view of the invention in operation in a key-barrel lock. Feature depicts the keyhole to be overridden. A shaft is inserted into the parallel portion of the keyway (C).The lower protrusions of said shaft are aligned with the barrel pins of the lock (F) to be overridden. The said barrel pins are partially displaced downwards into their respective bores (G) as a result of such action.
A slide is next pushed into the unoccupied T portion of the keyway to be overridden, thus oP 09 0 o o0 o 0 displacing the shaft via its upper protrusions 0000 0 000000e bores of the lock to be S° overridden.
0000 000o Consequently, such action displaces the lower protrusions of the shaft against the 0 barrel-pins and into the bores of the lock 0 0 to be overridden.
Consequently, the invention becomes an integral part 0o of the lock to be overridden. It cannot be removed 0 B from the said lock without first retracting the o 00 o slide from the keyhole A stop (K),protruding 90 degrees from the slide (H) limits the amount of travel both forwards and backwards of said slide within the confines of a -2j o 1. surrounding chamber Enclosed within said chamber is a suitable key-operated,two-position barrel lock with attached lever Insertion of corresponding key into barrel lock and subsequent operation of said key, positions lever behind stop Consequently, such action prevents extraction of slide from its inserted position in the lock to be overridden.
Removal of key from barrel lock completes 0 coooo0 the override locking action.
00 00 o 0 Consequently, the invention is activated and cannot 0000 "*00 be removed except by use of its key and 000000 0 0 o subsequent extraction of the slide (H),which will 00oo00 000 allow spring to expand against shaft thus extracting said shaft from bores of lock The invention (Figure 1) is now able to be removed.
