Abstract

A novel medicament consists of an aqueous solution containing 15 to 20 g/l of a mixture of salts formed from the sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium, strontium and boron cations and the chloride, sulphate, carbonate and bicarbonate anions, as well as 3 to 4 % of acetic acid. Application of the preparation to the treatment of viral diseases.

x la li The present invention relates to a composition and method for treating viral diseases.

In one aspect of the present invention there is provided an aqueous solution for treating viral diseases, comprising, from 15 to 20 g/L of a mixture of salts containing, cations selected from the group comprising sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium, strontium and boron, and anions selected from the group comprising chlorine, sulfate, carbonate and bicarbonate; and from 3 to 4% of acetic acid.

In another aspect the present invention consists in a method for preventing and/or treating a viral disease, 9. particularly AIDS comprising administering to a patient a composition comprising; from 15 to 20 g/L of a mixture of salts containing cations selected from the group comprising sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium, strontium and boron, and anions selected from the group comprising chlorine, sulfate, carbonate and bicarbonate; and from 3 to 4% of acetic acid.

The acetic acid used in the composition may also form salts with the aboviimentioned alkaline and earth-alkaline .0 metals.

In a preferred version of the present invention, the aqueous solution further includes nitrogen-containing ji 25 inorganic compounds selected from the group comprising; i nitrites, nitrates and ammonia salts.

t Preferably, the aqueous solution, according to the S: present invention, further includes phosphates and silica.

SBest Method for Carrying out the Invention In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the aqueous solution is prepared from seawater and white vinegar. The starting materials furnish the various constituents desired for the solution.

The preferred method of preparation of the solution is to mix, at ambient temperature, a volume jf seawater r v -I 2 with the same volume of wine vinegar and agitating to produce a homogeneous preparation. In such a case, the resulting solution is sterilized by cold filtration through a filtering candle.

The solution according to the present invention may be administered parenterally, in particular, by I.V. or I.M. injection, in which case it will be suitably buffered and/or diluted so as to be isotonic to blood plasma.

In another embodiment the composition according to the present invention may be administered by rectal injection.

It has been found that the composition according to the present invention is useful for the prevention and the treatment of viral diseases, especially aids.

Claims

1. An aqueous solution for the treatment of viral If diseases,.comprising; from 15 to 20 g/L of a mixture of salts containing cations selected from the group comprising sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium, strontium and boron, and anions selected from the group comprising chlorine, sulfate, carbonate and bicarbonate; and from 3 to 4% of acetic acid.

A solution according to claim 1 wherein the aqueous solution further includes nitrogen-containing inorganic compounds selected from the group comprising; nitrites, nitrates and ammonia salts. .o se*3. A solution according to claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the aqueous solution further includes phosphates. 4 A solution according to any one of claims 1 to 3 66* 00wherein the aqueous solution further includes silica. A solution according to any one of claims 1 to 4 wherein the aqueous solution is prepared from seawater and white vinegar.

6. A solution according to any one of claims 1 to *.wherein the aqueous solution is sterilised by coal 9000 filtration through a filtering candle.

A pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of viral diseases containing the aqueous solution according 04to any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein the preparation is suitably buffered and/or diluted so as to be isotonic to blood plasma, together with a pharmaceutical carrier. 9. A method of preventing and/or treating a viral disease, particularly AIDS, comprising administering to a patient a solution according to any one of claims I. to 8.
