WO 00/78175 PCT/IBR99/UUU6 1 "SHADING DEVICE" The present application refers to an advertisement carrying medium, intended for a purpose similar to that of totem posts and advertising panels, with a further additional property: the provision of 5 protection for vehicles or persons from the strong rays of the sun. Made of a rigid material, the "SHADING DEVICE" is schematically illustrated in Figure 1, wherein are shown the main components thereof, The whole arrangement is supported by a post (1), which at a certain height is divided into side branches (2), which are ended 10 by hinges (3), whereto is attached an edge of movable panels (4), which are shown to be rectangular in shape in Figure 1, but that may have another geometric shape. At another certain height of the same post, there is provided an advertisement box (6), shown in side view. Figure 2 shows a front view of the advertising box (6), which has a 15 transparent front face (7), allowing the display of advertising graphics or messages. Figure 3 shows a schematic perspective view of the invention proposed herein, with the post (1) and the side branches (2), each carrying at the end thereof a hinge (3), wherein is secured one of the edges of a 20 movable panel (4), which has the dual purpose of serving as an advertisement carrying medium and of projecting a shadow (9), under which vehicles or persons may be shelted. The figure shows, at the free end of each movable panel, a handle (8) whereby said panel can be moved, turning around the respective hinge, as indicated by the arrow. The arrangement is completed with an upper box (5), located on the highest point of the post (1). That upper box is also useful for displaying advertising material.

Claims (1)

1. Shading device comprising a post (1), with an upper box (5) and a box having a transparent face (7) intended to carry advertising material (6) characterized by the fact that said post, at a certain height thereof, has 5 side branches (2), which end in hinges (3), and wherein, in each of said hinges, it is secured an edge of one of a plurality of movable panels (4) provided with handles (8) intended for positioning said panels horizontally.
