4 1 The present invention relates to barbecues, and in particular, to a barbecue which is able to grill as well as deep fry or stew food.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a barbecue which is portable and which is able to via its construction to cook food in a variety of ways.
According to one aspect of the present invention there is disclosed a barbeque apparatus comprising a frame onto which a hot plate means is able to be placed, a heating means locatable within said frame and below said hot plate means, said hot plate means having an aperture in which a bucket is inserted, said bucket being used to cook food in a variety of ways and is able to be removed for serving purposes, wherein said frame comprises a pair of frusto conical segments which are able to be connected together at the ends of the pair of frusto conical segments having the smaller dialeter.
One embodiment of the present invention will now be described with reference to the drawings in which: Fig. 1 is a side view of a barbecue of the preferred embodiment; Fig. 2 is a plan view of the barbecue of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view III-III of the hot plate of the barbecue of Fig. 1; Fig. 4 is a side view of a bucket which is insertablh into the hot o plate of Fig. 3; and Fig. 5 is a plan view of an ash tray which is used to remove the ash when required.
The barbecue 1 comprises a frame 2 comprising two frusto conical segments 3 and 4. The segment 4 rests on the ground 5 whilst the segment 3 sits on top of the segment o 49 o «*1 a *0'4 -2nas/371y i ii).il.i..i-_ii~ii~~ eiii~, i 4 and is bolted into place by bolts 6. At the top of the segment 3 a recess 7 is formed in which a hot plate 8 is able to sit.
The hot plate 8 has an annular configuration whereby an aperture 9 is located in the middle of the hot plate 8, into the aperture 9 a bucket 10 is slidingly fitted. The bucket 10 has a handle 11 so that it can be easily inserted and removed.
Inside the frame 2 a tray 12 is bolted to the connection between the two segments 3 and 4 by the bolts 6. The Soaa tray 12 provides the location where either a fire can be o0oa 0' t lit or alternatively other forms of heating can be used. The ao tray 12 is at such a location that efficient heating of the 4 t cs hot plate is accomplished.
Under the tray 12 is an ash removal device 13. The o device comprises a grill like plate 14 on the tray 12. The a a.
S base 15 of the device 13 has a plurality of apertures 16 "Ia i through ws'i,.h the ash can be removed. A further plate 17 o0 4 having a handle 18 is rotatable and is positioned parallel and adjacent to the plate 15. As the handle 18 rotates the °a a plate 17 the apertures on the base plate 15 and plate 17 align, thus releasing the ash. The handle 18 is then used to reset the plate 17 into its use position.
In operation, the barbecue 1 can be easily dismantled and transported. The bucket 10 is generally used to cook sauces and the like generally after a fire has been lit on the tray 12 which preheats the hot plate 8. Once the fire has died down, the bucket 10 can be inserted into the aperture 3
JJ
9 and the ingredients in the bucket 10 can be slowly cooked by the low heat of the fire once it has died down.
Another use of the bucket 10 is for deep ftying various foods in oil. A mesh-type insert (no- illastrated) can be inserted into the bucket 10 to accomplish this.
The main advantages of the barbecue 1 is that it is portable and it can be used for different methods of cooking.
The foregoing describes only one embodiment of the present invention, and modifications obvious to those skilled in the art can be made thereto without departing from the *oat scope of the present invention.
For example, the frame and hotplate of the barbecue does not necessarily have a circular configuration. The Sbucket that is used can have a variety of shapes and sizes as the concept of various types of food needing different cooking methods is adhered to.
