Tel: (02) 328-7560. Address for Service: Complete Specification for the invention entitled: Ls IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO PLUGS. WOpFC 1 The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me:- Note: The description Is to be typed in double spacing, pica type face, in an area not excoeding 250 mm in depth and 160 mm in width, on tough white paper of good quality and it is to be inserted inside this form.
14166/77-L Printed by C. TnMsPsoN. ACling Commnnnwealth, Government Printer, Canbcrra THIS INVENT[ON relt tes to domestic basin, bath or sink plugs, and is more specifically concerned with providing a mount in which a plug can be held close to the outlet is is to close, when not in use.
Domestic plugs conventionally comprise a disc which fits into or across the outlet hole it is intended to close, and a hub which projects perpendicularly from the centre of one side of the disc and to which a chain can be attached.
However as the chain is unsightly and often a nuisance, it is often not attached to the plug. A consequenco of this is that the plug is often mislaid.
00 An object of this invention is to provide a mount for a plug.
0 In accordance with the preent invention a mount for holding a plug when 0 "o00° not in use, provides an upright face against which an undersurface of the plug 0000 00000 having a salient central boss can be placed, a support attached to the mount and spaced from the face by a distance sufficient to accommodate a central 000000 0 0 zone of the plug when positioned between the support and the upright face with the plug boss resting on the uppersurface of the support, and means for holding the mount vertical on a wall surface. Prefer'ably the support is provided with 0000 0 a notch or part-cylindrical recess to accommodate the underside of the boss.
0000 0 00C 00 0 00 o The mount may be free-sta-,ding. However it is preferred to provide it with o 00 means for enabling it to be mounted on a wall. Such means may comprise an adhesive pad, or screw holes formed through a plate one surface of which provides said face.
The mount may be formed as a plastics moulding or may be fabricated from metal. Conveniently it is sold with the plug in a blister package.
The invention will now be described in more detail, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which: FIGURE I is a pl'un view of a basin plug mount; FIGURE 2 shows ie mount of figure I in front elevation as seen from the right-hE, d side of figure 1; and, FIGURE 3 shows the mount of figure I in side elevation and holding a plug illustrat.ed in broken outline.
The mount shown in the figures is moulded from plastics and comprises a circular plate 1 having a shallow circular recess 2 on one side in which is located a double-sided adhesive pad 3 having its exposed adhesive face covered by a protective cover sheet 4 which is removed when the mount is to be adhesively attached to wall alongside a basin.
The circular plate I has a flat face 5 on the side opposite the pad 3, and has two diametrically-spaced legs 6 which position respective ends of a horizon -al crossbar 10 held in spaced parallel relationship to the face 5 by the legs 6. A part-cylindrical socket 7 is located centrally in the upper surface of the crossbar 10 to locate the underside of a boss 8 of a plug 9 which, as shown in figure 3, can be rested in the mount when not in use by having o'Mo, its disc locating in the space defined between the mount face and the crossbar 0 00 S and defined at its sides by the respective legs 6.
oooo00 0 00 0 o 00 1 o The above-described plug mount is easy and cheap to manufacture, and can °be located conveniently close to a basin, sink or bath so that the plug is SB..S always available at a known position.
