Abstract
The invention relates to a method for dyeing ceramic surfaces using aqueous solutions of metal compounds which produce pigments when they are baked, these prigments then dyeing the ceramic. According to said method, a mixed phase pigment consisting of the aqueous dye solution and a soluble compound of a lanthanoid ion is produced in the surface of the ceramic bodies by applying the aqueous dye solution and a solution of the lanthanoid ion to the surface layer, together or one after the other, and then baking the ceramic body at 800 to 1400 DEG C after the solvent has dried.
