Abstract
The invention concerns a lighter-than-water probe (1, 8), equipped with a sensor for measuring variables, themselves covered with a sealing pressure-resistant protective capsule (8). The method consists in dropping the assembly on the seabed by ballasting the capsule(steps a, b, c, d); then in controlling (step e) the release of the probe by placing the capsule (8). By the action of hydrostatic forces and gravity, the probe overturns (step f) and starts going up (step g), sensors facing upwards; the very release of the probe itself controls the activation of the sensors, the sampling process and the recording of data on board thereof. When it surfaces (step h), the data are transferred by radiofrequency channel means to a centre for processing the measurements.
