Description

AUSTRALIA
Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION STANDARD PATENT Scalping Grizzly Ascending Feeder Apparatus The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me: 1 Scalping Grizzly Ascending Feeder Apparatus DESCRIPTION This invention relates to changes in the materials handling product loading process where the product material finer size product is segregrated prior to the main &/or finer product material further processing or discharged to stockpiles.
This Apparatus uses the innovative collective assembly of many standard 'off the shelf' components with subtle design changes to interface one component into the next component to achieve a reliable scalping grizzly sizing product materials handling unit. The scalping grizzly sizing type of apparatus has always been located prior to or after the feeder apparatus and this equates to the material product having a longer travel distance before the scalping sizing (segregation) is/or has been applied.
High load points height increase of the associated ground plan area or requires very high lift loading equipment and stability of the equipment is reduced. This apparatus will normally be utilised [but not constrained to] where the product material is put through a reduction sizing unit (crusher grinder) for further processing or to a stockpile. A reduction of height and distance travel differential of product material in the handling operation reduces the associated fabrications, stabilisation methods, equipment and running cost.
This apparatus is a drag bar, fingers, rotary disc type chain, or other type, materials feeder incorporating a finger bars, mesh or other sieving sizing system apparatus, which lifts product material from a low loading point ascending in a general direction to S'a discharge point. In doing so the product material is passed over the specially located scalping grizzly apparatus where the maximum sized finer product material is ••separated from the main feed product material by means of gravity and/or other 25 inducements prior to discharge to stockpile or other products materials handling equipment from the feeder apparatus. The scalped grizzled maximum sized finer product material may be discharged prior to or through the returning drag bars, fingers, rotary disc type chain, or other type, of the product material feeder.
To assist with understanding the invention, a side elevation of the preferred mode of manufacture is shown with self explanetary notes. A general assembly concept drawing for the Scalping Grizzly Ascending Feeder Apparatus Figure 1 is attached.
Although Figure #1 shows the preferred type of manufacture design, the design may 1 be altered to accommodate differing styles of product material feeders. The design shown uses gravity as the medium for grizzy scalping of the product material. The apparatus can be self loading in its design by the addition of standard or specialised loading features fitted to the lower feed end of the apparatus.

Claims (15)

1. Lower loading height.
2. Greater stability of the overall equipment due to the lower centre of gravity.
3. Smaller ground plan area of associated loading facility.
4. Continuous mobility when used in mobile equipment.
Quicker load cycle times due to claim #4 &14.
6. Scalping grizzly is incorporated wholly within the feeder apparatus, (Top to Bottom, Side to Side, Loading end to Discharge end).
7. Scalping grizzly operates in an ascending as well as any other orientation as opposed to flat or descending only orientation of existing external grizzly scalping apparatus.
8. Blowouts, surge of materials are eliminated or reduced due to ascending inclination or bar flights in descending sections, controlling surcharge and angle of repose of the product material.
9. Discharge height of the feeder apparatus to interface with the next phase of production can be lower where materials handling segregation is used in conjunction :.:0:with the feeder due to the normally external segregation scalping grizzling sizing unit being fitted internally.
10.Overall length of the feeder apparatus can be reduced as with features 1,3, 6, 8, 9.
11 .Overall weight of the feeder apparatus can be reduced as with features 1,2, 3, 6, 8, 9,10.
12.Overall strength of the feeder apparatus can be enhanced as with features 1 3, 6,8,9,10,11.
•13. The feeder apparatus can have orientations which can cover 360 0 or more in its S" configuration.
14.The unit can be self loading thereby eliminating FEL (front end loader)-excavator- dozer Etc. S"
15. The designs allows fitment of one or more common or specialised loading attachments. Leslie Donald Dunn 20/07/2001 (Name of Applicant) (Date)
