Description

AUSTRALIA
Patent Act 1990 Complete Specification Standard Patent Title Treated sand termite proofing system using an approved residual adherence termiticide for buildings.
The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me: This invention relates to providing a reliable termite barrier during construction of a building to deny subterranean termites access into the building from the surrounding soil on which the building is constructed.
Problems in denying subterranean termites access to buildings occur due to poor application methods and the termites' ability 0 to circumvent physical barriers such as termite capping and stainless steel mesh.
eee This barrier method overcomes these problems by providing an e. evenly distributed appropriate thickness properly treated sand bedding barrier which denies subterranean termites physical access to the building from the surrounding soil.
Method An appropriate quantity of sand is placed in a mixer and a residual registered termiticide is thoroughly mixed with the sand so that all of the sand is coated with the termiticide.
When all building foundation boxing is in place and all foundation soil has been levelled and shaped to support the building according S to the building specifications a layer of the sand treated as above is placed in the shaped soil to a depth of 50 millimetres and covering all of the soil area within the confines of the foundation extremities.
A layer of moisture proofing material is then placed over the sand to protect the sand from displacement during the next construction phase.
When building construction has been completed a further layer of sand treated as above is placed around the exterior perimeter and interior perimeters of footings and piers where applicable to a depth of 100 millimetres next to the foundation graduating outward over 300 millimetres to a five millimetre depth at the exterior perimeter of the sand.
