Abstract

The invention relates to a device for optically transmitting data between a light emitting device (2) that emits a modulated primary beam (8) and a plurality of light receiving devices (13) for detecting and demodulating the light emitted by the light emitting device (2). Devices of this type have the disadvantage that they only allow a transmission of data information between the light emitting device (2) and the receiving devices that is spatially directed in one dimension. The transmitted data information is difficult to scan at several different points within the radiation field. The aim of the invention is to provide a device for optically transmitting data that makes the transmitted data information accessible to a multitude of receiving devices over the entire space and without interferences even when operating at low optical radiation efficiencies. To this end, at least one optical element (4) is positioned in the primary beam (8), at least a part of the primary beam (8) hits the or every optical element (4), thereby stopping down from said primary beam a secondary beam (9). The one or every optical element (4) deviates the secondary beam (9) and said secondary beam (9), once it emerges from the one or every optical element (4), spreads in space in a direction that differs from that of the primary beam (8) and extends at least temporarily into a solid angle area that is not covered by the primary beam (8).
