2)" a 3 fl~xileliners are used, the liner may be sealed before r (E oval, for example with a tie, to prevent the escape of ~unpleasant odours...( One problem that has been found with the use of' jyL liners ia ga~bage bins is th.'6 extra effort required to introduce anew liner into~the bin after emptying of the bin, especially where the garbage bin is kept outside and for practical reasons the supply of liners is stored ipis ide away from the bin. It has been proposed to ov~ercome thisldisadvantage by merely leaving the supply. of li1ners* lying ,on the bottom of the bin and reaching in each time a new liner is required. A difficulty here is that since -garbage bin liners are usually made of oextremely thin and readily tearable plastics shleet material they do in~ fact often tear and allow seepage of liquid~i~ and rotting material from the liner into the g bottom of 'the bin, thereby soiling the supply of ne 4 bin iners. exterior of the bin and defines a narrow slot 8 at its apex extending between the opposed sides 6 and 7 whereby S the externally concave portion 4 communicates with the interior 5 of the bin. If desired, removable means (not shown) such as a hinged cover may be provided to S selectively close the externally concave portion 4 to the exterior. S: Means to support a supply 9 of bin liners (Figure 2) is provided in the externally concave portion 4 and comprises a spindle 11 supported on the sides 6 and. 7 and carrying a roll of continuous bin liners. Such rolls are well known in the art and are formed by a long S* tube of plastics material which is flattened and welded S'across its width at equal spacings to define a bottom to S. 15 each liner with a tear line being formed just below each *weld-to define, when adjacent bags are separated along S.a* the tear line, the 6pen end of the next liner. SThe spindle 11 may be supplied with each new roll of bin liners or may be removed from an empty roll and inserted into a new one. The spindle 11 is removably supported in the sides 6 and 7 by means of an aperture S(not shown) in the side 6 and a curved slot 12 which is open at the lowermost level of the side'7 and extends to a position opposite the aperture in the side 6 directly -25 below the slot The spindle 11 with a new roll on it is first located in the aperture in the side 6 and then S' advanced through the curved slot 12 from the open end to ,thelosed end, the curved slot 12 being so shaped that 'the spindle is unlikely to drop out of the slot during use. Where the bin is formed of. plastics material, for, ',example, the curved slot 12 may include a restriction S not shown) whereby the spindle will snap engage into the closed end of the slot. Alternatively, the aperture may i: be replaced by a second curved slot.

Once the roll.of bin liners 10 has been mounted in the externally concave portion 4, the end of the first liner is passed through the slot 8 and the first liner'is pulled through the slot until the liner may overlap the upper rim 2 as 'shown in Figures 1 and 2. The externally concave portion 4,presents n equivalent internally convex portion in the interior 5 of the bin so that troughs 13 are defined on opposite sides of the conical section. rs the liner 10 is filled, it will sag into the troughs and the liner should be of sufficient length to 00 0 0' permit this. The troughs 13 are advantageous in that should materi'al leak from the liner 10, due to a tear in 0 the plastics material, it will tend to collect in the' troughs rather,,than around the slot 8. 000 '15 :When the full liner 10 is to be removed it, is 0 merely drawn up and out of'the interior 5 of the bin and this causes the next liner to be drawn up through the '0' 000 slot 8 as the roll supply 9 rotates on the spindle 11. Generally the full liner will then have to be separated
i> .0 0 20 from the roll by'tearing along the tear line, but the :0" S frictional resistance to the next liner being drawn off 0"#0
the roll supply 9 and through the slot may be such that 0 0 the full liner and the next liner separate as the full liner is withdrawn from the bin. In Figures, 1 and 2, the base 3 is of S essentially W-shape with each trough 13 being, of inverted Sonical cross-section. An opening 14 of triangular 0 oi cross-section is defined beneath each trough 13 in the second embodiment, each opening 14 including a bottom portion 15 of the bin and being closed at the sides 6 and 7 but opening outwardly of the side wall 24 whereby a foot may be inserted into the openihg 14 and located on jFthe bottom portion 15 to resist any tendency for the bin 1 to be lifted as a liner '10 is removed therefrom as 35 shown in Figure 2.
4 3; -1 I ;i i K
)unted The embodiment of Figure 3 is similar to that
first of Figures I and 2 except in that the troughs 13 are of. K,. ier is flat cross-section between the externally concave portion
the S4 and the side wall 24. Thus no openings 14 ate provided
-ally 5 and the base 3 in the troughs 13 dfines the bottom of the bin. In the embodiment of Figure 4, the externally ical concave portion 4 is provided in the side wall 24 of the to the bin adjaceht to the bottom of the bin .dfined by a
h to 10 central part of the base 3 and bottom portions 15. The at externally concave portion 4 is selectively closable by a ar in hinged, preferably integrally hinged, cover 20 and has a 4i
lhe *4 4 curved, wall defining an outer portion of the base in 4.
which the slot 8 is provided. The bottom portion 15 in 4 4' t. is 4 15 the'externally concave'portion 4 provides a support n and surface 21 on which the illustrated supply 9 of bin 4 1 he liners 10 is located. An opening 14 of similar shape to 44 4 s4, 4
I. the externaly concave portion 4 is provided in opposed 4,44~: 4' *4
ated manner to th latter to act as a foot rest whereby he 20 lifting of the bin as a bin liner 10 is pulled from the 44 4 Loff slot .8 or from the bin may be resisted. 44 4-4 that 444s 4 It will be apparent that many variations to the -ul1 embodiments described may be made which fall within the 5£ .4 4" 444444 scope of the invention and the invention is not to -be 4: 4 4r 4a
44 4i 25 considered limited in .ay way by the description 44 4:* 44O 44 *i 4 verted appearing hereinbefore. Thus in one modification a spindle for the supporting a roll of bin liners could be- integrally tom formed at one end- with the adjacent portion-of the bin s 6 and 30 and joined to the adjacent portion through, for example, ya an integral hinge.- The other end- of the spindle may ed on engage a groove or aperture such as hereinbefore he bin described permiting the roll to be replaced when said as other end is disengaged from the groove or aperture and is pivoted for-access about the integil hinge.
.10
In angther modification the bin wall or base. has a slot through it w~ith support means for a supply'of bin liner.s located externally of the wall or base and_ slot, whereby a bin liner may be~lpul1ed through, the slot the exterior of' the bin to thatro.A cover may overlie th-e slot and support ME,; S, such cover.. optionalJ! being' reimovable. Finally, it will be appreciated that the bin of the present ,invention may itself be tise.aannsert 110 to a standard hoi~seholdior other- garbage receptacle-in which' case the upright wall may or rmay not extend to the full height of the wall of the receptacle.
