Disclosure of the Invention It is an object of the inventionI to provide a rod for a surical sutuing instrument which would make possible to disease with the aplication of a purse string future to the biological tissue arra.sed ,ont rod by chaning the rod length. S'lut ion of the Technical Problem arid 'mb od ime nt s he -foregjoing object is accomplished due to the f5ct that in a d for a surgical suturing instrument aimed , t est-blishing circular anastomoses between -2 the organs of the digestive tract and comprising a stem whose one end carries a supporting head aimed at forma tion of a suture for a circular anastomosis, according to the invention the stem is made up of two different-length portions of which that portion which carries the suppor ting head is shorter than the other portion and is fixable with respect to the latter. The stem portion carrying the supporting hrad may be so shaped as to pierce the organ being sutured. 10 To provide a possibility of piercing the organ being sutured the free stem end carrying the supporting head is reasonable to be made pointed. It is also practicable that the stem have a detachable tip with a free pointed end fixable on the free end 15 of the stem portion carrying the supporting head. Such a construction arrangement of the rod for sur gical suturing instruments enables one to dispense with application of a purse-string suture to the biological tissues arranged on the rod and provides necessary con 20 ditions for surgery on limited-area spots. Summary of the Drawings The present invention will hereinafter be made more obvious from a consideration of a detailed description of some specific exemplary embodiments thereof with re 25 ference to the accompanying drawings, wherein: FIG. I is a diagrammtic view of a rod for a surgi cal suturing instrument, according to the invention; FIG. 2 is a view of that rod portion which has a pointed end, according to the invention; FIG. 3 is a view of an alternative embodiment of the rod, according to the invention; FIG. 4 illustrates the rod arrangement with respect to the organ being operated upon; FIG. 5 shows the rod arrangement with respect to 35 the organ operated upon after the latter has been pierced; a rid FIG. 6 presents one of possible VerSionS of the rod application in a surgical suturing instrument. Preferred Embodiment of the Invention 5 The rod for a surgical suturing instrument is aimed at placing circular anastomoses on the organs of the digestive tract. The rod comprises a stem I (FIG. 1) one of whose ends carries a supporting head 2 adapted for formation of a suturing for the circular anastomosis '0 being established. The supporting head 2 is of a conven tional construction and comprises a connecting ring 3 held to the stem I by a nut 4. The stem I is of a sectional construction and is made up of two portions 5 and 6 differing in length. 15 The portion 6 of the stem I is longer than the portion 5 carrying the supporting head 2, though the portion 6 represented in FIG. I and other FIGS has a shorter length for the sake of simplicity and convenience in graphic representation of the rod. 20 The portion 5 can be fixed with respect to the portion 6 by means of, e.g., a lug 7 and a threaded hole 8. The stem is so made that with its aid one can pierce the organ being sutured, for which purpose the free stem end, in particular, a free end 9 of the portion 6 25 is pointed. However, when surgery has to be performed in hard -of-access places of a patient's body or in the case of a limited area of the operative field, it proved to be fabourable to provide a pointed end 10 (FIG. 2) of the stem.portion 5 which is much shorter than the portion 6 25 (FIG. 1),thereof. FIG. 3 presents an alternative embodiment of the portion 5 of the stem I having a removable tip 11 adapted to be fixed on the lug 7 of the free end of said portion 5 of the stem I through a hole 12 and having another pointed end 13.
-4 FIGS 4 and 5 illustrate some stages of surgery per formed with the use of the rod according to the inven tion. The rod is take. apart into its component parts 5 and 6 and is inserted into the cavity of the organ operated upon, e.g., a stomach 16, through an incision 14 made in a portion 15 of the stomach 16 to be resected. Upon being introduced into the gastric cavity the rod is to be so arranged that it should remain in the cavity of the stomach.16 after removal of the gastric portion 15 10 to be resected. For this purpose the rod is to be orien ted and the pointed end 13 of the tip 11 should face the direction of piercing the wall of the stomach 16. Once the wall of the stomach 16 has been pierced by the tip 11, the tip 11 is disconnected from the portion 15 5 of the stem 1 carrying the supporting head 2, and the portion 6 (FIG. 6) of the stem I is engaged with the suturing instrument and is fixed in place. The instru ment comprises a body 17, a needle arrangement 18, a staple ejector 19 and a hollow tube 20 through which runs the stem I of the rod. The instrument is intro duced into the interior of an intestine 21 being anas tomosed. Using the staple ejector 19 one should bring the connecting ring 3 of the supporting head together with a ring 22 of the needle arrangement 18, whereupon 25 the tissues of the organs being anastomosed (that is, the stomach 16 and the intestine 21) are pierced with needles 23 made fast on a ring 24 of the needle ar rangement 18. Then an a;nestomotic opening is cut through with a cyLindrical knife 25, whereupon the enti re instrument and tom rod without the connecting ring 3 are withdrawn from the interior of the intestine 21 using a known technique. A total of 35 gestroenteroanastomoses have been established with the aid of a suturing instrument 35 making use of the rod of the invention. All the procedures have been a success, no complications have been observed. Ruling out of a purse-string suture applied to the tissue arranged on the rod, use of the rod 5 proposed herein makes it possible to drastically increase the degree of asepsis of surgery, to render the danger of possible morbid complications less possible, such complications being associated with a risk of escaping of the tissues stitched up 10 by purse-string sutures, beyond the limits of a mechanical suture. Industrial Applicability The invention is applicable in surgery on the organs of the gastro-iatestinal tract.

Claims (4)

1. A rod for a surgical suturing instrument aimed at establishing circular anastomoses on the organs of the digestive tract comprising a stem 5 whose one end carries a supporting head aimed at for ming a suture of the circular an' astomosis being established characterized in that the stem (1) is made up of two different-length portions (5, 6) of which that portion (5) of the stem (1) that car 10 rias the supporting head (2 is snorter tha. t a other portion (6) and is fixable with respect to the portion (u) of the stem (1).
2. A rod as claimed in Claim 1, characterized in that the portion (5) of the stem (1) carrying the supporting head (2) is adapted for piercing the organ (16) being sutured.
3. A rod as claimed in Claim 2, characterized in that the free end (10) of the portion (5) of the stem (1) carrying the supporting head (2) is made pointed for piercing the organ (16) being sutured.
4. A rod as claimed in Claim 2, characterized in that, with a view to providing for a possibility of piercing the organ (16) being sutured, it has a detachable tip (11)with a 1zinted end (13), which tip is fixable on the free end of the portion (5) of the stem (1) carrying the supporting head (2).
