Abstract

The device for adjusting the height and fixing the top (5) of a table, in particular of office furniture, has at least one pair of plate-type elements (9, 10), of which the one (9) is height-adjustable and the other (10) is adjustable transversely thereto. The purpose of this is to clamp a fixed part (2) of the table in the manner of a sandwich between the two elements (9, 10) in order to join said elements together without clearance in the desired position. The elements (9, 10) are moved in two directions perpendicular to each other by means of threaded bolts (13, 14; 33), their operation being effected from the outside by means of a spanner from above. The transversely adjustable element (10) is displaced by means of a V-drive (30), in particular a mitre gear. Thus a simple and robust device of this type has been provided which is practical in handling and ensures complete stability between the parts to be connected. <IMAGE>
