Description
AUSTRALIA
Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION STANDARD PATENT A SYSTEM FOR THE ATTACHMENT OR SUSPENSION OF DRIPPER TUBE ONTO TRELLIS WIRE.
The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me.
Page 2 of A SYSTEM FOR THE ATTACHMENT OR SUSPENSION OF DRIPPER TUBE ONTO TRELLIS WIRE.
For best performance a dripper or trickle irrigation system requires the dripper tubing (hereinafter called, "The Dripper"), to be suspended usually about 30 to 50 cm of the ground along the row of trees or vines. This has been traditionally done by tying or clipping the dripper to a trellis wire (hereinafter called, "The Wire"), strained upon posts along the row of trees or vines.
Because the dripper consists of a highly flexible poly-tubing it requires to be secured to the wire in short intervals of perhaps to 60 cm, otherwise it will sag between the ties or clips and this may lead to less effective irrigation and damage to the dripper.
To tie or clip the dripper at such short intervals can be very tedious, back-breaking, expensive and time-consuming work, especially in a large commercial orchard or vineyard.
This system has been designed to enable the attachment of the dripper to the wire more simply, quickly and without the use of ties or clips. The repetitive back-breaking work of affixing the ties or clips is also thereby avoided.
The dripper in accordance with this system can be suspended on the wire by wrapping it around the wire. The frequent snug revolutions of the dripper around the wire will ensure the thorough and even irrigation of the row.
The attachment of the wire onto the posts in accordance with the following procedure will hold the dripper in position and prevent it from unravelling itself off the wire. The procedure involves the following steps: a. The wire is firstly attached to every alternate post; b. The wire is then strained to the desired degree (or just under given that it may be strained further at a later date as required); c. The dripper is then stretched on the ground. Just below the wire or near enough to it; d. Starting, preferably from the end of the row where the riser is supplying the dripper, the dripper is wrapped securely around the wire as shown in Fig. I; e. Each section of dripper between the two posts to which the wire is attached is then in turn wrapped around the wire until the entire row is done. This can best be done by wrapping the dripper around the wire in an anticlockwise direction from a position marked in Fig. II.
being opposite the unattached post; Page 3 of f. After the dripper is completely wrapped around the wire, the wire can then be nailed to the post thereby securing the Dripper in place, Fig. III; g. Alternatively the wire can be fixed to the post in a non permanent manner by the use of a Tuckaway T M staple or a Vini-ClipTM fastener. This will enable you to easily take up any slack in the future, should any occur, by simply dislodging the wire and further wrapping the dripper around the wire until it is completely snug and then replacing the wire onto the Tuckaway T M staple or Vini- ClipTM fastener. If this alternative method is used the staple or fastener can be affixed onto the in-between post at the same time the wire is permanently affixed onto the alternative post as per step above. Each section should then be completed in accordance with the above procedure until the entire row is done; h. No ties or clips need to be used as the dripper is simply suspended around the wire and is held in place by virtue of the fact that it is wrapped around it. At the end of each row, the end of the dripper should be secured by looping it around the last post or by some other preferred system.
Claims (4)
1. A system for the attachment of dripper tube onto trellis wire and posts whereby the dripper is wrapped around the wire and thereby secured in position without the use of ties or clips.
2. A system for the attachment of dripper tube onto trellis wire and posts whereby the dripper is wrapped around the wire between alternate posts prior to the wire being fixed onto the post in-between thereby securing it in position without the use of ties or clips.
3. A system for the suspension of dripper tube around trellis wire and post without the use of ties or clips.
4. A system for the suspension of dripper tube around trellis wire whereby the dripper is wrapped around the wire thereby securing it in position without the need to use ties or clips. A system for the attachment or suspension of dripper tube to trellis wire as hereinbefore described with reference to Fig. I II, of the accompanying drawings. BRUNO TASSONE 1j /02/2002
