Abstract

When connection is established between a subscriber station (UE) and a base station (BS) of a first communicant system supporting a first transmission method (GSM), the subscriber station (UE) signals the support of at least one other transmission method (TDD, FDD). In response to this the base station (BS) signals, over a connection specific signalling channel, to the subscriber station (UE) the information about neighbouring radio cells (Ztdd) of at last one other communications system which supports at least one other transmission method (TDD, FDD). Signalling to neighbouring cells of the second radio communications system is performed depending on traffic load in the first system and/or in dependence on actual position of the subscriber station.
