Passionfruit Snack Tool
The present invention is a convenient new eating utensil that has been found to be particularly useful in the consumption of Passionfruit. The present invention assists the process of obtaining the pulp of a passionfruit for personal consumption. The present inventors devise the passionfruit snack tool be of simple, cheap, effective, readily reusable, and environmentally sound recycled plastic or plastic construction for single use fruit retail point sales, and/or stainless steel as a permanent kitchen utensil.
The term "passionfruit" refers to plants of the Passiflora genus, a genus of mainly vine-like plants. The term "passionfruit" will be used to refer to the fruit of such plants herein. The passionfruit is typically ovoid shaped with a solid shell-like exterior (rind) encasing the edible seed, juice and membrane (pulp).
The anatomy of the passionfruit dictates that it is not a fruit that lends itself to easy snacking. It cannot be peeled like a banana nor bitten directly into like an apple. For many years passionfruit have been overlooked as a quick snack option because two additional apparatus such as a knife and a spoon have been required to access the pulp inside the fruit. This invention has been specifically devised to provide an environmentally sound recycled plastic single use utensil or plastic or stainless-steel utensil that can both open the fruit (replacing the job of the knife) and assist with the consumption of the contents of the fruit (replacing the job of the spoon) as one simple tool.
A passionfruit snack tool in accordance with this invention comprises an apparatus with one scoop shaped end and the other end of a beak shape. The beak end is used to pierce the top then side of the fruit and slice open as the tool circumnavigates around the fruit. The top of the fruit can then be removed whence the scoop shaped end is used to scoop out the contents for consumption.
The passionfruit snack tool in accordance with this invention can be seen in the proceeding illustrations and pictures. The passionfruit snack tool is of 10cm total length with 4cm comprising the scoop shaped end. The scoop end is oval shaped of 3cm width and lcm depth. The neck is lcm in width and 3cm in length at which point the lcm lower beak juts out from the left of the neck. The push tab and upper beak comprise the upper 3cm of the passionfruit snack tool. The upper beak arcs over the lower beak to the left by 3cm from the midpoint of the tool proper, with a perpendicular (down) pointed puncture tip of 0.5cm (parallel to the tool proper). The push tab is of 3cm diameter centred over to tool proper.
The passionfruit snack tool may be sold individually or alongside the passionfruit at fruit retail points, to assist with ready and immediate consumption. The passionfruit snack tool may also be made of stainless steel for a permanent kitchen utensil.
The invention may be better understood with reference to the illustrations in Figures 1 -3, prototype picture (figure 4), and pictures of the device being used (figures 5 - 8).

Figure 2 shows more detailed view of the measurement specifications.

Figure 5(a) is a picture showing the prototype being used to pierce the skin of the passionfruit.

Figure 6(b) is a picture showing the prototype being used to circumnavigate and cut open the passionfruit.
