IMPROVED HOLSTER

[0001] The present invention relates to an improved holster, and in particular to an improved holster with one or more pockets.

[0002] A holster is used for many purposes, but in particular a holster may be used to carry a two-way radio. When working on the land, or when flying in a helicopter to travel over a large property, and needing to communicate with others while doing so, wearing a holster is very useful. A person may wear the holster all day to maintain contact while travelling in a range of vehicles, such as a 4x4 vehicle, or helicopter, orwhen riding on a bike, quad bikeoreven on horseback. When piloting a helicopter the pilot needs a clear line of sight to the right, and so any impediment, such as the aerial of a radio is inconvenient.

[0003] Conventional holsters were designed for a standard male, to hold the radio on the right-hand side. But not all users fit the standard male sizing, and this can lead to discomfort. For smaller males, or for females who tend to have a slighter frame, and a different body shape including breasts, the standard male sized and shaped conventional holster is too big and is uncomfortable to wear. For those people working the land all day this is a problem not to be underestimated, safety and communication is essential, but to carry the two-way radio, is uncomfortable, particularly for women adding to the weariness at the end of the day. The sizing is also an important factor in safely as a loose arrangement is likely to be insecure, risking losing items from the pockets, losing the holstered item, or catching the loose straps or body of the holster on things as the wearer moves around. Comfort is important when working, as a loose fitting holster, similar to oversized shoes allows more play and movement than is suitable. The extra play and movement means that the holster will rub, and contact the wearer making it uncomfortable at those contact points. This discomfort may be exacerbated by the length of time the holster is worn, and the weather conditions.

[0004] In the Australian outback, a shoulder holster may be worn all day, most days, to carry the two-way radio for safe communication through-out the day and if there is an accident. The person is likely to be working physically in potentially hot and dirty conditions, jumping in and out of vehicles, and the discomfort of an ill-fitting and inconvenient holster is a significant problem for these users.

[0005] Further, when out and about during the day it is desirable to carry a number of small items with the person, including personal items and a mobile phone. It may be possible to put a very small item in the radio pocket, such a plaster or lip balm, but it is likely that on retrieving the radio these other items will also be freed from the pocket and spill on the ground. When travelling across large distances an item once lost is lost forever, and so a person would not risk putting items such as a key in a conventional holster pocket for fear of losing the items. An item such as mobile phone would not fit in the radio pocket, and again it is highly undesirable to risk a mobile phone falling and smashing.

[0006] The most important item carried in the holster is the two-way radio, the reason for the holster to be able to have the communicator nearby to hear new messages, pick up the radio and respond immediately. The two-way radio is a heavy item, and again on those people with a smaller frame the weight of the two way radio can be most uncomfortable and awkward in a conventional holster. One of the problems is that the radio must be at a convenient position to grab quickly, usually from the left as the person is right handed. The radio needs to be lifted clear of the holster pocket up and out, as the aerial necessitates that it can not be pulled forward or to either side without getting tangled. When piloting a helicopter for example, it is important that the person has full visibility, and access, and that the radio is not in the way. The inventor has developed a clever new holster that holds the radio at an angle so that it can be more readily accessed but is out of the way and comfortable to wear, including for people with a smaller frame and women. It may appear a small change, but this change produces a dramatic improving functional result, that leads to the holster being of great commercial

e-DA)/1Q1221 appeal, and is likely to be the holster of choice for people of smaller frame in the future.

[0007] Therefore, it would be highly desirable to have an improved holster, that has improved comfort, including for those people with a smaller frame and women with a different body shape. It would also be highly desirable for the holster to be able to be slung on to the body and worn with the holstered item directed out of the way, generally out to the left for a right-handed person, such as when flying a helicopter. Further, it would be most useful to have an improved holster with secure pockets to carry important personal and valuable items, safely, in the holster without the risk of losing during the working day. Most desirable would be for the improved holster to allow comfortable wear all day, carrying items conveniently and securely with ready access

[0008] The inventor has, through careful research and development, developed an improved holster that may be worn with the radio extending at an angle, is fully adjustable, in order to accommodate wearers with a smaller frame and women, and has numerous secure pockets for carrying items, including personal items and a mobile phone.

[0009] The following describes a non-limiting example of the invention being used with reference to a shoulder holster for carrying a two-way radio and other items. It is not intended to limit the purpose or use of the shoulder holster other than as defined in the claims. The invention has been developed to be particularly applicable for the carrying of a two-way radio, such as for travel communication. However, the invention may also be very useful for other items it is desired to holster. Therefore it is not intended to limit the invention to the holstered item being a two-way radio, other than as defined in the claims.

[0011] It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved shoulder holster that at least ameliorates one or more of the aforementioned problems of the prior art.

[0012] Accordingly, the present invention provides an improved holster, for carrying items, the improved holster including:

a holster body arrangement; a holster pocket for holding the holstered item angled away from the body; and one or more secure pocket for holding items,

wherein, the holster body arrangement is fitted about the body, and the holster item carried in the holster pocket, whereby it is readily retrievable, and the secure pocket can securely hold other items it is desired to carry.

[0013] Accordingly, the present invention provides in a variant, an improved holster, for carrying items, the improved holster including:

a holster body arrangement; a holster pocket for holding the holstered item; and one or more secure pocket for holding items,

wherein, the holster body arrangement is fitted about the body, and the holster item carried in the holster pocket, whereby it is readily retrievable, and the secure pocket can securely hold other items it is desired to carry.

[0014] Preferably, the improved holster is designed to be suitably sized for wear by women. Preferably, the improve holster is adjustable in a wide range of sizes for comfort. Preferably, the improved holster is used for carrying a communication enneDA)/1Q1221 device. The communication device may be any suitable communication device. Preferably, the communication device is a two-way radio. The communication device may be a mobile phone. The holster may be designed to carry both a twoway radio on one side and a mobile phone on the other side, where either or both may be readily retrieved as required. In this form of the invention the holstered item is held in a holster pocket and a mobile phone in another pocket. Preferably the holster pocket and other pocket are particularly designed for the items they are to carry.

[0015] Preferably, the holster is made of a light-weight, cool to wear, material suitable for use in the heat. Preferably, the holster is adapted for wear in the Australian bush environment, for heat, dirt, dust, and wet conditions. Preferably, the body of the holster is made of mesh. The personal item may be an item chosen from the group: bank notes; coins; hair ties; lip balm; pain killers; plasters; scarf; sanitary items or any small item. The carried item may be a small, or very small personal item that may be carried in a small flat pocket. There may be a back pocket, and this small flat back pocket may

A back strap may be included formed with a flat pocket included to contain small items. There may be any suitable fastening to the flat pocket. The flat back pocket may be fastened with a zip.

[0018] The holster body may take any suitable form. Preferably the body is adapted to be worn across the shoulders and extend down the chest on the left and right hand side. Preferably, the body is shaped for comfort and practicalities to direct the holster to the left side. Preferably, the body is shaped to distribute the weight across the shoulders. Preferably, the shoulder part of the body is broad, to assist to spread the weight and comfort. Preferably, there are two front sections. The front sections may mirror images of one another. The front sections may be different from one another.

Preferably, the edging is a strong binding to prevent the mesh material from fraying. Preferably, the binding or edging provides a smooth edge so the holster is comfortable to put on and off. Preferably, the binding or edging is a cotton edging suitable for contact with the skin. The cotton edging may prevent wear or injury, caused by rougher materials, on the skin.

[0024] Preferably, the holster pocket is designed to strongly hold the holster item. The holster item may be any suitable item it is convenient to holster. Preferably, the holster item is a two-way radio. Preferably, the holster pocket is adapted to specifically hold a two-way radio. Preferably, the holster pocket is formed of a pocket to hold most of the two-way radio. The pocket may extend some, most or all the way up the body of the radio. Preferably, one or more strap is included. Preferably, a divided strap is included with two parts, and the aerial of the two-way radio is held between the two parts, to assist to hold the radio in the holster. The divided strap may hold the two-way radio in place. Preferably, the divided strap is attached to a securing strap, and fastener to open and close. The two-way radio can be retrieved through opening the fastening, and secured through closing the fastener. Alternative forms of fastening may be used. Elastic, clips and further straps may be used for the holster arrangement as suitable. Alternative arrangements of straps may be used instead. Additional pockets may be included on or about the holster pocket. However, it is important that the radio can be retrieved and put back in the holster easily and without impediment. Were items to be slipped into the radio pocket, these would mostly likely be lost the first time the radio was removed, so not suitable. Other large items such as a phone or comb would similarly be in a precarious manner, at risk of being spilled out with the radio, and also to damage the radio in transit. Clearly, use of the existing pockets of a holster simply will not work.

In other forms it may be useful to angle of the body and pocket the right hand side of the body, either in addition to or instead of the left hand side. A left handed form of the invention with an angled right hand pocket is envisaged.

[0046] Referring to Figures 1 to 4, a first preferred embodiment of the invention will be described, where holster 1, has holster body 5 with reinforced edging 8, and

In contrast to prior art holsters, inventive holster 1 is designed to be cool and comfortable and so holster body 5, including back 10, is made of a strong but lightweight mesh material, and as illustrated this is a PolyVinyl Chloride ("PVC") mesh material of a known form. The mesh material is cool to wear, as the small holes of the mesh allows the body to breath and sweat to evaporate, rather than soaking in to the solid material of prior art holsters. The strong mesh PVC material is ideal, as it is very strong, waterproof, breathable through the mesh, easily cleaned, and supports carrying items, with excellent support. Reinforced edging 8 is important to give a strong firm edge to the mesh body 5, of holster 1, to maintain the strength of the body, but also makes the item smooth and comfortable to wear. Cotton edging is preferably used as reinforced edging 8 as the person will contact the edging when putting on and off and the smooth edging will not irritate or scratch. The mesh could potentially may be less comfortable when worn, and so the edging is beneficial to this highly innovative and desirable holster design. In some preferred forms of the invention contrast or coordinating colours can be used for the mesh of body 5, and reinforced edging 8 to give attractive alternative looks for holster 1. The various pockets discussed below can also be provided in contrasting or coordinating colours to give a very attractive and desirable appearance to holster 1. A single colour may also be used, and it is anticipated that a range of colours and combinations of colours will be offered.

[0047] The design of holster 1, is suitable to distribute the weight, distribute the weight evenly and be comfortable, in particular for woman and people with a smaller frame, as the weight is borne across the back of body 5 (separate to back ). Back 10 is similar to a seat belt strap 50 millimetres wide, made of two strips of very strong seat belt webbing, forming a pocket between them accessible by a zip. If small items such as pain medication or plasters are put in the holster pocket, these will be very inconvenient as these are likely to be spilled out of the pocket every time the holster item, such as the radio is removed. The small items need to be carried for when they are needed but they may only be required from time to time, not every day. In contrast, the radio will need to be taken in and out of the

enneDA)/1Q1221 holster pocket regularly throughout the day. Therefore, the back pocket has been developed so that these super small items can be safely and conveniently carried, safe and protected from accidental loss but also can quickly and easily be retrieved when needed by removing the holster and opening the back zip. Body 5 is a continuous piece which crosses the shoulders to spread and carry the weight, and then extends down the left and right to lie on the torso, as illustrated in particular in Figure 1. The careful design is equally weighted across the back of the person to spread the weight of the items contained in the pockets and improve the comfort. The design also accommodates an angling of the holster pocket and is broad to comfortably spread the load. A significantly angled pocket is included and described in the second preferred embodiment of the invention as illustrated in Figure 5.

[0048] The holstered item, a two-way radio (not shown) in the example, is a densely heavy object, as it is a concentration of electrical components. The dense heavy item when carried in conventional holsters, will pull the material to one side, or weigh heavily on the front of a person. The weight of the two-way radio, in the subject invention, is not carried on narrow straps or only on one side, which may cut into the body and be uncomfortable, but instead is distributed across the back and front of the person. The "whole body" support arrangement of holster 1 is a significant improvement to support the two-way radio across the body so that it feels weight-less and does not drag down straps, or cause these to cut into the body.

[0049] Left strap 12 and right strap 14 are included each with snap fasteners 16 and 18 respectively, with further front strap 20 (two parts) and snap fastener 22. Each of straps 12, 14, and 22 is made of a webbed material and closes with a snap fastener than allows for the strap to be loosened and tightened in the usual manner. Back 10, a narrow strip that runs from body 5, down the back of the person is likewise made of a strong webbed material to support and secure the

e-DAl IQ1221 arrangement. Material across the shoulders and down between the shoulder blades is a comfortable arrangement, which feels good and well supported.

[0050] To put on holster 1, a person puts their arms through each side of body 5 so the shoulder part of the body lies across the shoulders, and back 10 runs from the shoulder part of the body down the back of the person. Adjustable straps 12 and 14 can be adjusted before putting on to a size approximately suitable, and then once on, a tightening of the straps can firmly fit holster about the person. The usual form of adjustable straps, to lengthen or shorten the part used, and snap fastenings, similar to those used on a rucksack, to fit about the shoulders. Further strap 20 can be brought together and closed with snap fit 22, and adjusted by shortening the strap length in the usual manner. Once side strap fasteners 16 and 18 are closed and straps 12 and 14 adjusted, front strap 20 may be closed with fastener 22, and again give a final adjustment for a snug fit. In this way a firm, comfortable fit, with limited play to the body is achieved, with strong support of the weight of the item. This snug fit makes holster 1 feel comfortable, and secure, with the weight well balanced and supported across the shoulders. Further the contact points and general design has been thoughtfully produced so that there are not parts that could rub or cut into the skin or clothing of the wearer, to improve the overall comfort.

[0051] Snap closures with adjustable straps is a particularly useful to have an adjustable, comfortable fit. Use of hook and eye fasteners (VELCRO Trade Mark) is not suitable as grass seeds, dirt and insect debris gets caught and removes functionality after a very short time.

[0052] The adjustable straps 12 and 14 are formed of strong webbing material, resistant to wear or damage which can be clipped closed and tighted by pulling on the strap. These under arm straps 12 and 14 are 25 milimetres wide and sized to fit about the average body. Front strap 20 is thinner, 19 millimetres wide, for convenience, and is closed and tightened using the clip in the usual manner. The

enneDA)/1Q1221 particular width and length of these straps 12, 14 and 20 may be adjusted to suit the form for the wearer. The webbing is very strong, and suitable for use for work wear, with the risk of damage when working outdoors and getting in and out of vehicles, including a helicopter. The side release clips can be readily realised by pressing on the sides in the usual manner to enable quick release from the holster as a whole.

[0053] Turning to the pockets of the invention, these are carefully designed to carry the holster item, the two-way radio, and numerous other items securely. The pockets (excluding the back pocket described above) are made of a strong canvas material, waterproofed as is suitable for use in the outdoors. As illustrated DYNAPROOF (Trade Mark) waterproofed canvas is used to provide a strong, waterproof, and resistant to damage pocket, suitable for strong and secure use. Both the secure pockets and the holster pockets as illustrated are formed of strong solid materials to securely hold items. First pocket 24 is a holster pocket to hold the holstered item, in this case the two-way radio. Holster pocket 24 is particularly designed for convenience including being angled to keep the aerial, which is now conveniently on the left-hand side out of the way. The angle is not particularly apparent, as in the drawing, the sides have been levelled, but holster 1 designed so that pocket 24 as it sits on the body is actually at a 65 degree angle from the vertical so that the aerial is pointed out left, and away from the centre of the body so as to be out of the way for the wearer of the holster. The angle is important as when you are flying the helicopter you need to look out to the right and by keeping the radio aerial to the left the aerial does not interfere with the piloting. Other angles can be used and an straight pocket arrangement can be used. But it is most beneficial to enable a person to wear the holster all day, while suing the radio, getting in and out of the helicopter and working on the land. The arrangement could be reversed if desire to carry the two-way radio on the right rather than the left. The reverse arrangement may be useful for different vehicle arrangements or other uses, as suitable for a particular wearer. A strap is included to help maintain the

e-DA) IQ1221 radio in place. The strap is formed of webbing strap material. An elasticated strap arrangement may be used instead.

[0054] Second pocket 26 is designed and sized to carry a second large item, namely a smart phone (for example, Phone or Samsung (Trade Marks)), in a convenient location. There is a small amount of extra room around the smart phone once in the pocket. The dimensions may be varied to suit the particular dimensions of the smart phone, for example different countries may have different requirements in this regard. This many facetted invention makes carry a two-way radio and a mobile smart phone convenient, both carried securely and in easy reach, in pockets on either side of the front of the holster. Considerations of strength have been made throughout the design, whereby no additional, or unnecessary holes are included in the pockets that may weaken the pocket or lead to a reduced strength at a seam. The pockets could be provided in alternative arrangements with pocket 24 and pocket 26 on opposite sides in an inferior form of the invention.

[0055] Holster pocket 24 is important to hold a two-way radio convenient for use but also out of the way, when wearing the holster. Body 28 of pocket 24 can be formed in any suitable way, but as illustrated has a simple pocket formed of a strong canvas material to enable the base of the radio to be cradled therein. Strap , and snap fastener 32 to hold the radio in place surround body 28, to maintain the radio in position and to enable tightening to secure. Strap 30 and snap fastening 32 are similar to a rucksack closure again, so that a simple push fit holds securely, and can be released by pushing on either side. Use of secure straps of webbing material and snap fasteners rather than conventional VELCRO (TRADE MARK) significantly improves the security of the items contained therein. The length of the strap can be adjusted to accommodate different sizes of two-way or other radios. Any form of communication device could be used instead. The aerial of the two-way radio fitted between divided strap 34, and prevents the aerial of the radio, which sticks up from the top from moving beyond a point left or right,

When in transport, or moving to conduct manual tasks a person may move from side to side and it is useful to keep the radio secure, and within a small amount of movement. Divided strap 34 further allows the radio to be pulled straight up and the play in the strap means it is easy to retrieve the radio quickly as needed.

[0056] Pocket 26, is designed with holding a mobile phone in mind, and so has dimensions of a modern smart phone eg an iPhone or Samsung (Trade Marks)). While body 5 is made of mesh, with a reinforcing and comfortable cotton edging 8, to be light-weight and cool, the strength and security aspects of the straps and pockets means a stronger material is used. For the pockets canvas is used as a very strong and hard-wearing material. For the straps webbed strapping material similar to that used for seat belts is used to be very strong and resistant to breakage, due to the multitude of woven threads used.

[0057] Strap 38 is used to securely close the second pocket, to prevent the item or items therein from falling out. A mobile phone will not be able to be carried unless it is safe from falling out, and smashing the screen or sustaining serious damage. To be able to carry a mobile phone in a top pocket when working or travelling, a secure closure is required and for the invention this is provided through strap 38 and snap fastener 40 which together allow for quick opening through pressing the sides of the fastener, and raising the lid to retrieve the phone. A phone may be ringing while one is working or travelling and so a person will need to stop quickly access the phone, and take the call before the other person hangs up. If the phone is in a bag, not carried with the person they may not hear the phone, particular when using loud equipment or as a passenger in a loud vehicle such as truck or helicopter. As the holster enables the mobile phone to be carried on the chest, the person can hear it easier, but also if the vibrate setting is used can easily feel the call come in, without needing the sound on. Missed calls are annoying and when moving in and out of phone coverage this can prove very difficult as a person may

[0058] Use of the secure arrangement, of the lid to pocket 26 and strap 36 held closed with snap fastener means that pocket 26 can be easily opened at an instant, but is secure during wearing the holster. Reinforced stitching 41 is used to very strongly form the pocket, and maintain its integrity. The quality of the canvas pockets 26 and reinforced stitching 41 is similar to that used in a swag of army tent. With left-hand side 42 of body 5, and right-hand side 44 of body 5 strongly held to the body of the person due to the adjustable fit, and pockets 24 and 26 holding the contents including the two-way radio and mobile phone close to the body and secure, from falling out.

[0059] The strap and fastener will hold lid 46 closed firmly so that even if a person is tipped from side to side, or inverted the mobile phone should remain in place.

[0060] The inventor has developed a further pocket 48 with side 50 of lid 46 including a zip 52 for securely storing small items. Referring in particular to Figure 3 and 4, the details of this strongly supportive pocket arrangement can be seen. The reinforced stitching 41 on canvas pocket 26 provides strength and support, but further metal side clips 52, running along the entire straight size of lid 46 creates very strong sides. The metal (stainless steel) clips not only reinforce the lid, and the body of the pocket into which they fit The resulting strong closure and reinforced pocket therefore holds the mobile phone and strongly resists it falling out, moving about or becoming wet or dusty. It therefore enables a mobile phone to be safely and securely carried, and kept secure until it is desired to retrieve the items. The carrying of the mobile phone in this strong reinforced pocket, with side clips is good improvement over the prior art.

[0061] Accidents do happen, rough weather, and rough terrain and so having the knowledge that a person's phone is strongly held is most reassuring. Pocket 26 is resistant to damage, and weather as it is made of a canvas pocket, with a strong canvas lid. Lid 46 is made as an integral piece that flows on from the body of the pocket to limit seams, and potential entry points for dirt, dust or water. In this way not only is the mobile phone held strongly in the pocket with the additional strength of strap 38 and 40 firmly hold the mobile against the holster and chest of the person. In this way the mobile phone is held in the pocket and the pocket and contents and the lid is firmly closed with a strong strap and positive clip fastener, that cannot come undone accidentally, a good advance over conventional holsters.

[0062] Back 10, as particularly shown in Figure 2, is configured to maximise support of the weight by running from the upper reinforced edging 8 (which runs all around the edges of the mesh body) to the start of straps 12 and 14. As back 10 runs across the shoulder part of body 5, this adds strength, and gives a good comfortable feeling of running down the spine. Back 10 is reinforced with stitching 54, which makes back 10 very strong, supportive and resistant to damage. Most importantly the positioning of back 10, assists to distribute the weight. Back piece 10 includes a small pocket itself (not shown) so that very small items, that may be required from time to time can be carried every time the holster is used. These items can be accessed through opening a small zip to the side, once the holster is taken off the back. These items may be plasters, pain killers, or other medication, or any other small items a person needs to keep safe and secure and about their person when out. Other small pockets may be adapted to be positioned about the holster for other items as may be required for a particular application.

[0063] An example of this practical invention, in use, can be give through use by a person working the land and frequently getting in and out of a helicopter. Helicopters generally have their own communications, but when travelling about a

The person can put on holster 1, adjust for a comfortable fit with the various straps and fasteners, and install the two-way radio on the left-hand side and mobile phone on the right-hand side. The wearer can go about their daily work, piloting the helicopter, communicate with workers, and others on the property, and when they get out of the helicopter there is no need to change radio, they can keep wearing holster 1, and continue with their tasks. Irritating tasks such as switching radios, and frequencies, or putting a holster on and off, due to it interfering with piloting and other work, adds to the work of the day and so this is undesirable. Further as the subject invention is made of mesh and cool materials, it can be worn comfortably all day and provide useful, ready access to the two-way radio, mobile phone and other personal items as they are required. These items may be kept in an ordered and organised fashion, kept safe, secure, and the person knows exactly where to reach to retrieve these while working. Items required only in cases of injury or infrequently can be stored in the back pocket that may required the holster to be removed but the wearer will feel confident in their work to know that all they need is being carried about their person, ready for use at any time.

[0064] Holsters are of course known and they do, do the job, however they are ill fitting and uncomfortable for many people, particularly woman. Due to the limitation of having only one option for positioning the aerial is often in the way, and again makes wearing the holster to carry the two-way radio unpleasant. The radio is a dense and heavy item which in conventional holsters is carried on one side with the weight born on thin straps. The weight is not distributed evenly, the thin straps can dig in to the body or where the holster is too big the straps and held items are loose and move around uncomfortably. Inclusion of the many pockets, including multipurpose and secure pockets adds a whole new dimension to the use of the holster, to replace stuffed full pockets or the need to use a bag to keep a phone

Inventive holster 101 is very similar to inventive holster 1, and uses similar reference numerals. However the angling of the pocket to hold the two-way radio is more refined in holster 101, to improve the design. As for holster 1, holster body 105, includes back 110, and is made of PolyVinyl Chloride ("PVC") mesh material to be light-weight and cool, improving comfort of wear.

Each of straps 112, 114, and 122 is made of a webbed material and closes with a snap fastener than allows for the strap to be loosened and tightened in the usual manner. Back 110, a narrow strip that runs from body 105, down the back of the person is likewise made of a strong webbed material to support and secure the arrangement. Material across the shoulders and down between the shoulder blades is a comfortable arrangement, which feels good and well supported.

Claims (5)

The claims defining the invention are as follows:

1. An improved holster, for carrying items, the improved holster including:

a holster body arrangement; a holster pocket for holding the holstered item angled away from the body;and one or more secure pocket for holding items,

wherein, the holster body arrangement is fitted about the body, and the holster item carried in the holster pocket, whereby it is readily retrievable, and the secure pocket can securely hold other items it is desired to carry.

2. The improved holster of claim 1, wherein the angle is substantially 65 degrees away from the vertical.

3. The improved holster of claim 1 or 2, wherein the weight of the holstered item is distributed across the back of the wearer.

4. The improved holster accordingly any one claims 1 to 3, wherein a back pocket is included to carry small items securely.

5. An improved holster, for carrying items, the improved holster including: a holster body arrangement; a holster pocket for holding the holstered item; and one or more secure pocket for holding items,

wherein, the holster body arrangement is fitted about the body, and the holster item carried in the holster pocket, whereby it is readily retrievable, and the secure pocket can securely hold other items it is desired to carry.
