Description of Embodiments
20. It should be noted in the following description that like or the same reference numer als in different embodiments denote the same or similar features.
21. Figure 1 shows an exercise belt 10 according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention. The exercise belt 10 is completely reversible and comprises a band shaped outer layer 12 and a band shaped inner layer 15 which extend around a user's waist or hip area in use. The belt 10 is made from fabric material which can be stretched to sit tightly around a user's waist or hip area. The exercise belt 10 also has four pockets which are accessible via zipping or opening the fabric material pockets, with the fabric material being able to keep its shape during and after being worn.
22. The outer layer 12 and the inner layer 15 are each band shaped loops, the outer lay er 12 and inner layer 15 being joined at a top edge 14 and a lower edge 16 thereof. The width of the exercise belt 10 between the top edge 14 and the lower edge 16 in the example shown is between 8 to 15 cm.
23. The outer layer 12 and the inner layer 15 define a storage space therebetween within which items can be stored. The exercise belt 10 includes an outer panel 13 which ex tends over a section of the outer layer 12 to form a further storage space therebe- tween. The exercise belt 10 also includes an inner panel 17 which extends over a section of the inner layer 15 to form a further storage space therebetween.
24. The outer panel 13 is attached to the top edge 14, the lower edge 16 and at one side edge thereof to the outer layer 12. The outer panel 13 and the outer layer 12 define a first pocket therebetween, which is accessed via a first outer pocket with an elastic channel 18. The first outer pocket opening 18 is at an acute angle between the top edge 14 and the lower edge 16.
25. Similarly, the inner panel 17 is attached to the top edge 14, the lower edge 16 and at one side edge thereof to the inner layer 15. The inner panel 17 and the inner layer 15 define a fourth pocket therebetween, which is accessed via a fourth inner pocket opening with an elastic channel 19. The fourth inner pocket opening 19 is at an acute angle between the top edge 14 and the lower edge 16. The fourth inner pocket open ing 19 is easily accessible in the reverse configuration of the belt 10.
26. The first pocket opening 18 and the fourth pocket opening 19 are designed to be open, they have an elastic channel which prevents the contents thereof from easily falling out, while providing quick access to the user's belongings such as a mobile phone.
27. Both the first and fourth pockets 18 and 19 are purposely designed with an angled opening which serves the functionality of both pockets and holds the shape of the pockets when stretched on the body. The angled openings of the pockets substantial ly prevents the contents thereof from falling as the lower portion of the pockets ex tends further than the top portions thereof.
28. The exercise belt 10 includes a second 'in-seam' invisible zip pocket opening 20 and a third 'in-seam' side pocket 22 which define access to the storage space between the outer layer 12 and the inner layer 15. These are further described below.
29. The second pocket 20 is an 'in-seam' invisible zip pocket which has an opening at the top edge 14 seam between the outer layer 12 and the inner layer 15. It can be used when the belt is worn in a reversed manner with the inner layer 15 on the out side. The second pocket 20 is closable via an invisible zipper 21 and is designed to provide secure storage and access to the user's belongings such as for cash.
30. The third pocket 22 is an 'in-seam' side pocket which has a slit opening at the top edge 14 seam between the outer layer 12 and the inner layer 15 and can also be used when the belt is worn in the reverse manner with the inner layer 15 on the out side. The third pocket 22 can thus be a more secure pocket in normal use for house or car keys for example. The third pocket 22 does not have a zipped opening in con trast to the second pocket 20.
31. The belt 10 is completely reversible, in that the inner layer 15 can become the exter nal layer and the outer layer 12 will be the internal layer, and would be a different colour, print and/or material when worn in reverse configuration.
32. The embodiment shown of the invention provides an exercise belt which can work as a "waistband replacer". The belt sits comfortably over the waistband of any pants, on the waist or hips area and carries the user's belongings while they exercise.
33. In comparison to existing running belts, arm bands and fanny packs, these products do not provide any quick or easy access to the user's belongings. They are most of ten masculine designs, aimed at a typical marathon runner or athlete and made for items to be "locked away".
34. The preferred embodiment provides the following features: has 4 functional pockets to choose from, an outer layer quick access pocket, an inner layer quick access pocket, a secure 'in seam' invisible zipped pocket and an 'in seam' side pocket, carries user's small belongings such as mobile phone and keys, has angled pockets for both func tionality and shape, provides quick and easy access to user's phone, can hold any phone size, made from stretchy fabric and pockets, fits over the waistband of any pant, sleek design, slimming fit, can be worn in multiple ways, featuring different pockets, can be worn reversible (would be a different colour, print and/or material when inner layer is worn on the outside), can be provided in multiple sizes and multi ple colours, can be constructed in soft, comfortable, breathable, light weight fabrics which have moisture wicking properties, provides a comfortable lightweight design, not bulky, easy to wear and good quality.
35. Although a preferred embodiment of the present invention has been described, it will be apparent to skilled persons that modifications can be made to the embodiment shown.
