Field of the invention related to Smart Automated Guest Rooms:
With the development of advanced concepts, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is evolving rapidly in offering multiple solutions in various sectors. The hospitality sector has been at the forefront of using ICT. Hotels put significant efforts into providing new facilities and services for enhancing customer satisfaction. Many of the hotels are finding difficulties in reaching their customers with the services that they offer. Changing lifestyles and new trends reshape the services and the way they are offered by the hotels. New technologies have a larger role to lay under these circumstances. Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and the Internet of Things (IoT) in the hospitality sector aims at offering various better solutions such as smart rooms, smart ventilation, smart food management system, smart laundry services, and such. The Internet of Things (IoT) connects physical devices and mobile devices to communicate directly via internet. We intend to propose a smart automated guest room that can facilitate the services remotely. This system works with a mobile-based application platform through which the guests can choose their services remotely. An electric device known as smart meters can be used to monitor energy consumption. The cost and frequency of power consumption are communicated to the user in order to avoid high bill usage. The smart meter displays the number of units consumed and transmits the data to both the customer and the electrical board, which aids in the reduction of man-power. This operates in collaboration with an IoT-enabled mobile application.Smart automated room deploys sensors across the devices with an intelligent device controller. Once the guest enters the room, he/she will be allowed to access the application and thereby the device senses the room temperature based on the amount of guests and records the humidity level of the room. The intensity level of the light shall also vary according to the changes in the temperature, fans, and air conditioners. The sensors will continually monitor the room readings, thus adjusting the services optimally.
A smart service platform allows customers to search, strategize, and prefer their activities at their leisure. The platform also facilitates remote check-in and check-out procedure. The guest can also use the platform to recommend the hotel services to other guests. The guest can also choose and order their preferred food items using the application. The application also enables its users to control other devices in the hotel room.
The work is a timely attempt as currently, the entire world is facing the COVID-19 crisis. The impact of the crisis is most severe on the occupancy of hotels across categories and its direct correlation on reduced revenue presented a worrying sentiment. Restoring customer confidence is the need of the hour. In addition to maintaining hygiene and cleanliness at the hotels, new technologies are desired for hotels' such as mobile applications for contactless check-in as well as service requests through the mobile chat option. The proposed solution is an effective solution for combating crisis during such pandemic.
Background and prior art of the invention:
Smart technologies have remodelled the traditional lifestyles of humans. People tend to get attracted to smart cities, smart homes, smart devices, and smartphones. The word smart comes originally from the English language and means intelligent, clever, ingenious, and slick. Presently, the word smart is connected with new technologies and devices called smart technologies and smart devices, respectively. Smart devices aim to make user activities much faster, easier, better, and safe. Smart organizations and intelligent systems are in sight with the advanced concepts of Al and IoT. The IoT ecosystem is made up of sensors and actuators that interact with one another, as well as processors that connect to provide a variety of useful services. Smart technologies have laid a strong foundation in Hospitality Sector, intended to offer smart services in a better way. Smart hospitality services describe a logical transformation from traditional hospitality services to innovative hospitality services such as smart rooms, smart ventilation, smart lights, smart fans, smart food and beverages control system, smart hotel management system, and smart guest rooms for comfort and safe stay. The hotel guests also look for more personalized options, pre, during, and post their stay at a hotel property. The concept of a smart hotel with automated check-in check-out services, customized environmental settings within each room, the use of the Internet of Things (IoT), and intelligent systems is a solution for smart automated rooms for a comfortable stay of the guests. Automation of Hospitality services is a complicated task that can be effectively handled with the support of IoT-enabled intelligent systems. The hotel guests prefer smart devices for interaction rather than human interaction. Intelligent systems can be programmed to provide a variety of services, including waking up the guest by triggering the automated opening of drapes and turning on the preferred news station, creating a one-of-a-kind and unforgettable customer experience. Sensors: • Temperature sensors - to identify fluctuations in a system's heating and cooling. • Humidity sensors - to make a distinction between the amount of moisture and the humidity of the air
* Light sensors - to determine the intensity level of a light • Passive Infrared (PIR) - are used to identify infrared radiation by nearby objects. • Proximity sensors - without any physical interaction, sense the occurrence of nearby objects. Summary of the invention:
The proposed invention has been designed with sensors and intelligent device controllers with a mobile application, integrating the services of IoT. We propose a smart automated and energy efficient guest room system using IoT for a smart, safe, and comfortable stay. This system will connect the guest with the hospitality services through a mobile-based application. This application also includes a smart electric meter reading module for measuring the amount of electricity utilized. The Internet of Things (IoT) provides an efficient and cost-effective means to wirelessly transfer the information of energy consumers as well as detect the usage of electricity. The invention aims to provide smart and energy efficient services for hospitality services, whereby guests will be aware of how much electric energy they are consuming, letting the power supply to be saved. Furthermore, this provides a smart and comfortable stay with known power consumption charges and the ability to effectively use electronic items. When the guest enters the room, he can get connected to all the services remotely with their smartphone. The guest can control all room features such as light intensity, fan speed, air conditioning, etc. This makes the guest feel convenient and safe. Also with IoT-enabled guest room control systems, remote check in/check-out is also achieved. This technology can assist in offering the services at an admirable level. Moreover, this shall also be widely used to maintain distance and safety. Currently, multiple industry verticals are facing challenges h on account of COVID-19 impact. The proposed work is appropriate during the current pandemic situations, where sensor-triggered actions minimize the necessity to touch third-party objects, making high tech-no touch the thrust of reassurance from a health and safety standpoint.
