CONTAINER ADVERTISING
FIELD OF INVENTION The present invention relates to container advertising. In particular, the present invention relates, but is not limited, to an advertising assembly mounted to a container. Reference to the assembly is provided by way of example but the invention is not limited to this use.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Advertising is an efficient way for promoting a product and or a service. Effective advertising can be useful in improving brand recognition and to attract customers. Different types of media have been used for advertising. One method is through television or radio commercials. However, television or radio commercials are expensive and can easily be turned off and ignored. Billboard is another common media in advertising. Billboard advertisements are generally simple and straight forward with a minimum number of words in order to be easily viewed. This is to allow people walking or driving pass to have sufficient time to read the message on the billboard without undue distraction. However, there are problems in relying on billboard advertisement. Billboards are fixed in one location and the amount of information that can be provided in one billboard is limited. Also, billboard advertisement can easily be forgot as they only provide a brief exposure to people walking or driving pass, and the information that can be conveyed is limited due to the short exposure time and the limited number of text that can be accommodate on the billboard. Billboard advertisement is also expensive to set up or take down, and required constant maintenance and repairs due to weather. Dedicated mobile billboards have also been used which can travel around instead of being fixed in one location. However, this method also results in adding extra vehicles to the general traffic. There are problems with the additional vehicles as they create additional exhaust emissions that increases air pollution, as well as creating traffic congestion and hazards. Transport advertising including buses and trains has also been used. While they are effective and can reach a wider audience, they are generally fixed to a set route and thus only a limited number of areas can be reached. In addition, due to the presence of windows and doors, the exterior of buses and trains provide an inconsistent surface for advertising. As such, there is a size limit for the advertisement which is often restricted to only partially covering the vehicle. Furthermore, the cost for public transport advertising can significantly increase in order to reach more areas and locations.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the present invention to overcome or at least alleviate one or more of the above mentioned problems with advertising and/or provide the consumer with a useful or commercial choice.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION In one aspect, the present invention broadly resides in a container including at least one display assembly removably attached to the container including at least one display panel, and one or more mounting means to removably attach the display panel to the container. In one embodiment, the display panel is a multimedia display panel configured to display digital media files. The digital media files can be in graphic format, photo format, video format or a combination thereof. Preferably, the multimedia display panel is a liquid crystal display (LCD) monitor. In another embodiment, the multimedia display panel is a light emitting diode (LED) monitor. In another embodiment, the display panel is adapted to accept a printed advertisement. Preferably, the printed advertisement is removably attached to the display panel. In another embodiment, the advertisement is directly printed on the display panel. Preferably, the assembly includes two or more display panels. Preferably, the two or more display panels are connected as an extended panel to display one advertisement. In another embodiment, the two or more display panels are connected as duplicate panels that display the same advertisement. In another embodiment, the two or more display panels are connected separately to display different advertisements.
Preferably, the multimedia display panel can display a static image. In another embodiment, the multimedia display panel can display multiple static images repeatedly. In another embodiment, the multiple display panel can display moving images repeatedly. Preferably, the mounting means can removably attach the display panel to the container. In one embodiment, the mounting means includes one or more mounting brackets. In another embodiment, the mounting means includes one or more adhesive or magnets. Preferably, the display assembly further includes a communication module. Preferably, the communication module connects the display assembly to a remote computer. Preferably, the advertisement can be remotely provided to the display assembly via the communication module. Preferably, the display assembly further includes at least one tracking means for tracking the location of the display assembly. Preferably, the tracking means can also track the time and date where the display panel is located. Preferably, the tracking means is a satellite navigation (satnav) system device. In one embodiment, the satnav system device is a Global Positioning System (GPS) device. In another embodiment, the satnav system device is a Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) device, a BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) device, a Galileo system device, or the like. Preferably, the satnav system device is configured to send signals or information of the location of the display assembly to a remote computer. Preferably, the satnav system device is connected to the communication module to connect to the remote computer. In one embodiment, the display assembly further includes an audio system for playing a sound file or a sound track associated with the advertisement. Preferably, the display assembly further includes a power source to power the multimedia display panel. Preferably, the display assembly further includes a power source to power the communication module. Preferably, the display assembly further includes a power source to power the tracking means. Preferably, the display assembly further includes a power source to power the audio system. Preferably, the power source includes one or more solar panels. In another embodiment, the power source includes one or more battery pack. Preferably, the one or more battery pack is recharged by the solar panels.
In another embodiment, the multimedia display panel is powered by a vehicle's electricity. In another embodiment, the communication module is powered by a vehicle's electricity. In another embodiment, the tracking means is powered by a vehicle's electricity. In another embodiment, the audio system is powered by a vehicle's electricity. In another aspect, the present invention broadly resides in a container including at least one display assembly removably attached to the container including at least one display panel, one or more mounting means to removably attach the display panel to the container; and at least one tracking means for tracking the location of the display assembly. In another aspect, the present invention broadly resides in an advertising display assembly removably attachable to a container, the advertising display assembly including at least one display panel; one or more mounting means to removably attach the display panel to the container; and at least one tracking means for tracking the location of the advertising display assembly. Preferably, the display panel is a display panel as described in this specification. Preferably, the mounting means is a mounting means as described in this specification. Preferably, the tracking means is a tracking means as described in this specification. Preferably, the advertising display assembly further includes a communication module as described in this specification. In one embodiment, the advertising display assembly further includes an audio system as described in this specification. Preferably, the advertising display assembly further includes a power source to power the display panel. Preferably, the advertising display assembly further includes a power source to power the communication module. Preferably, the advertising display assembly further includes a power source to power the tracking means. Preferably, the advertising display assembly further includes a power source to power the audio system. Preferably, the advertising display assembly further includes a power source as described in this specification. In another embodiment, the display panel is powered by a vehicle's electricity. In another embodiment, the communication module is powered by a vehicle's electricity. In another embodiment, the tracking means is powered by a vehicle's electricity. In another embodiment, the audio system is powered by a vehicle's electricity. In another aspect, the present invention broadly resides in a method of tracking the location of an advertising display assembly as described in this specification, the method including powering the advertising display assembly and displaying an advertisement on the display panel; obtaining location data of the advertising display assembly via the tracking means; using the communication module to send the location data of the advertising display assembly to a remote computer; and evaluating on the remote computer the location data to determine the location of the advertising display assembly. Preferably, the steps of displaying an advertisement includes controlling the multimedia display panel to display different advertisements depending on the location of the advertising display assembly and/or the time of the day. Preferably, the step of using the communication module to send the location data of the advertising display assembly further includes using the communication module to send data related to the time and date where the advertising display assembly is located. Preferably, the method further includes the step of determining the location, time and date of where the advertising display assembly is located and determining the total cost for displaying the advertisement on the advertising display assembly. Preferably, the method of determining the total cost for displaying the advertisement on the advertising display assembly includes determining the time spent where the advertising display assembly is in a desired advertising area and the time spent where the advertising display assembly is not in the desired advertising area. The features described with respect to one aspect also apply where applicable to all other aspects of the invention. Furthermore, different combinations of described features are herein described and claimed even when not expressly stated.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS In order that the present invention can be more readily understood reference will now be made to the accompanying drawings which illustrate preferred embodiments of the invention and wherein: Figure 1 is a schematic view of a container including an advertising display assembly according to a first preferred embodiment; Figure 2 is a schematic view of a container including an advertising display assembly according to a second preferred embodiment; Figure 3 is a schematic view of a container including an advertising display assembly with two display panels according to a third preferred embodiment; and Figure 4 is a schematic view of a container including two advertising display assemblies according to a fourth preferred embodiment.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT With reference to Figure 1, there is shown a container 10 according to the first preferred embodiment. The container 10 includes an advertising display assembly 11. The advertising display assembly 11 includes a display panel 12 and a mounting bracket 14. The display panel 12 can display a printed advertisement. Additionally or alternatively, the display panel 12 is a multimedia display panel that display a digital media including videos and or static photos. The display panel is removably attached to the container by the mounting bracket 14. With reference to Figure 2, there is shown a container 20 according to the second preferred embodiment. The container 20 includes an advertising display assembly 21. The advertising display assembly 21 as shown in Figure 2 is substantially the same as the advertising display assembly 11 as shown in Figure 1 and includes a display panel 22 and a mounting bracket 24. The advertising display assembly 21 also includes a communication module 26, a tracking device 27, an audio system 28, and solar panels 29 that are located on the top of the container 20. In use, the communication module 26 connects the advertising display assembly 21 to a remote computer (not shown in the figures). A controller or a user can access the remote computer and remotely provide an advertisement through the communication module 26 to the advertising display assembly 21. The controller or the user can also control the display panel 22 to display different advertisement depending on the location of the advertising display assembly 21 and/or depending on the time of the day. The audio system 28 can play any sound effect or sound track that is associated with the advertisement displayed on the display panel 22. The tracking device 27 sends the location data of the advertising display assembly 21 to a remote computer (not shown in figures). The tracking device 27 can send the location data independently or by connecting to the communication module 26. The controller or the user can access the remote computer to retrieve the location of the advertising display assembly 21. The tracking device 27 can also provide information including the time and date in relation to the location of the advertising display assembly 21. The solar panels 29 are used as a power source to provide power for the different features of the advertising display assembly 21. The solar panels 29 can provide power to the display panel 22, the communication module 26, the tracking device 27 and or the audio system 28. The solar power can also be connected to a battery pack (not shown in the figures) that provides power to the display panel 22, the communication module 26, the tracking device 27 and/or the audio system 28. With reference to Figure 3, there is shown a container 30 according to the third preferred embodiment. The advertising display assembly 31 as shown in Figure 3 is substantially the same as the advertising display assembly 21 as shown in Figure 2, except that there are two display panels 32 and 33 that are removably attached to the container by mounting bracket 34. Display panels 32 and 33 are connected such that they are used as an extended panel to display one advertisement. Display panels 32 and 33 can also be connected as duplicate display panels that display the same advertisement. Alternatively, display panels 32 and 33 each display a different advertisement. Communication module 36, tracking device 37, audio system 38, and solar panels 39 as shown in Figure 3 are substantially the same as communication module 26, tracking device 27, audio system 28 and solar panels 29, respectively, as shown in Figure 2. With reference to Figure 4, there is shown a container 40 according to the fourth preferred embodiment. The container 40 as shown in Figure 4 is substantially the same as the container 20 as shown in Figure 2, except that there are two advertising display assemblies 41. Each advertising display assembly 41 includes a display panel 42 and a mounting bracket 44. Communication module 46, tracking device 47, audio system 48, and solar panels 49 as shown in Figure 4 are substantially the same as communication module 26, tracking device 27, audio system 28 and solar panels 29, respectively, as shown in Figure 2. With reference to Figures 1 to 4, the advertising display assembly according to the preferred embodiments can be removably attached to a container of any size. Figures 1 to 3 includes an example of a 20 foot container and Figure 4 includes an example of a 40 foot container.
ADVANTAGES An advantage of the preferred embodiment of the present invention includes providing an alternative option for advertising that can reach a wider audience and have an increased exposure to the public. Another advantage of the preferred embodiments includes less restriction on the size of the advertisement, and different option for advertising including the use of static photos or video. A further advantage of the preferred embodiment includes providing an alternative option for tracking when and where the advertisement is being shown to the public. Another advantage of the present invention includes providing an alternative method for a more accurate estimation of the cost of advertisement based on the time when the advertisement is in public view and when the advertisement is out of public view. Another advantage of the present invention includes providing an alternative method of tracing the assembly if it is lost or stolen.
VARIATIONS While the foregoing has been given by way of illustrative example of this invention, all such and other modifications and variations thereto as would be apparent to persons skilled in the art are deemed to fall within the broad scope and ambit of this invention as is herein set forth. Throughout the description and claims of this specification the word "comprise" and variations of that word such as "comprises" and "comprising", are not intended to exclude other additives, components, integers or steps.

Claims (5)

1. A container including at least one display assembly removably attached to the container including at least one display panel, and one or more mounting means to removably attach the display panel to the container.
2. A container including at least one display assembly removably attached to the container including at least one display panel, one or more mounting means to removably attach the display panel to the container; and at least one tracking means for tracking the location of the display assembly.
3. The container as claimed in claim 1 or 2, wherein the display assembly includes a communication module, wherein the display assembly includes a power source to power the display panel, wherein the display assembly includes a power source to power the tracking means, and wherein the display assembly includes a power source to power the communication module.
4. An advertising display assembly removably attachable to a container, the advertising display assembly including at least one display panel; one or more mounting means to removably attach the display panel to the container; and at least one tracking means for tracking the location of the advertising display assembly.
5. A method of tracking the location of an advertising display assembly as described in this specification, the method including powering the advertising display assembly and displaying an advertisement on the display panel; obtaining location data of the advertising display assembly via the tracking means; using the communication module to send the location data of the advertising display assembly to a remote computer; and evaluating on the remote computer the location data to determine the location of the advertising display assembly.
