Abstract
This invention provides a falling trap device for alien invasive turtles and its application.
The device uses an approximate circular floater constituted by a floating ring, a spring back
roller and a wooden trap door, the outer rim of the floater inclines gradually to level with the
water surface, forming a slope that attracts turtle to climb to the wooden trap door, which would
flip down by sharp 90 degrees under action of gravity by the climbing turtle. The barrel
stainless steel net cage with open top face is built underneath the floater to prevent the caught
turtle from escaping and block the entry of other medium and large aquatic organisms. The
spring back roller springs back after turtles falls, realizing the repeat use for trapping the
invasive turtles. The invention is durable with strong corrosion resistance and low maintenance
cost, it has a wide range of application in the fields of alien invasive organisms control,
biodiversity conservation research, and popular science teaching aids market, its market
prospect is broad and promising.

[02] China is one of the countries that suffers the most by alien invasive species in the world. Alien invasive freshwater turtles have been identified as the main invasive species of wetland ecosystem in China.Traditional fishing methods are extremely inefficient, while the application of chemical control methods in fresh water causes collateral fatality for a large number of non-target aquatic species, hence damaging the entire aquatic ecosystems. The invention relates to a trapping device for alien invasive freshwater turtles and application thereof, which can effectively trap the turtles, realizing prevention and control of alien invasive freshwater turtles.
[03] The invention relates to a trapping device for alien invasive freshwater turtles and application thereof, which can effectively trap the turtles, realizing prevention and control of alien invasive freshwater turtles.
[04] The other purpose of this invention is to provide the application of trapping device for alien invasive freshwater turtles.
[05] The falling trap device for alien invasive turtles is comprised of net cage, floater, two spring back rollers or more, two wooden trap doors or more, the number of rebound rollers is the same as that of trap doors, wherein, the top face of the net cage is open, the floating ring is fixed on the periphery of the top of the net cage, and the diameter of the net cage is the same as the inner diameter of the floating ring. The body of the floating ring is a slope gradually inclines from the inner circumference to the outer.
[06] The spring back roller is comprised of spring and elastic sheet, wherein the spring is positioned inside of the spring back roller, and there are elastic sheets installed on both ends of the spring. The spring back roller is installed at the middle line of the inner surface of the floating ring, one elastic sheet is vertically fixed on the inner surface of the floating ring in the horizontal direction, the other elastic sheet on the spring
back roller fixes trap door in the horizontal direction.
[07] The spring back roller is comprised of spring and elastic sheet, wherein the spring is positioned inside of the spring back roller, and there are elastic sheets installed on both ends of the spring. The spring back roller is installed at the middle line of the inner surface of the floating ring, one elastic sheet is vertically fixed on the inner surface of the floating ring in the horizontal direction, the other elastic sheet on the spring
back roller fixes trap door in the horizontal direction.
[08] According to the specific embodiment of the invention, the net cage is made of stainless steel.
[09] According to the specific embodiment of the invention, the mesh density of the cage is 5-500 meshes, the diameter of the steel wire is 0 .1 mm to 0 .6 mm, and the diameter of mesh is 0 .15 mm to 4.5 mm.
[010] According to the specific embodiment of the invention, the trap door is one eighth round plates, 8 spring back rollers respectively fix 8 trapping doors in horizontal positions, forming an approximately circular movable seal which is filled in the floating ring, which can make turtles confuse it with floating wood, inducing them to climb up on top, hence falling into the net cage, implementing the trap.
[011] The invention has a wide range of application in the fields of alien invasive organisms control, biodiversity conservation research, and popular science teaching aids market, its market prospect is broad and promising.
[012] This invention differs the prior art of netting and fishing alien invasive turtles, using an approximate circular floater constituted by a floating ring, a spring back roller and a wooden trap door, the outer rim of the floater inclines gradually to level with the water surface, forming a slope that attracts turtle to climb to the wooden trap door.
[013] This invention uses the wooden trap door, which would flip down by sharp degrees under action of gravity by the climbing turtle, to trap turtle in the stainless.
[014] The invention uses the barrel stainless steel net cage with open top face that is built underneath the floater to prevent the trapped turtle from escaping and block the entry of other medium and large aquatic organisms. The spring back roller springs back after turtles falls, realizing the repeat use for trapping the invasive turtles.
[015] The invention is durable with strong corrosion resistance and low maintenance cost, it has a wide range of application in the fields of alien invasive organisms control, biodiversity conservation research, and popular science teaching aids market, its market prospect is broad and promising.

[020] Embodiment 1
[021]
[022] As figure 1 shown, falling trap device for alien invasive turtles comprises of: net cage 1, floating ring 2, spring back roller 3, trap door 4, wherein, the net cage has an open top, the floating ring 2 is fixed on the periphery of the top of the net cage, and the diameter of the net cage 1 is the same as the inner diameter of the floating ring 2.
[023] The body of the floating ring 2 is a slope gradually inclines from the inner circumference to the outer.
[024] As figure 2 shown, the spring back roller 3 is comprised of spring 3-1 and elastic sheet 3-2, wherein the spring is positioned inside of the spring back roller 3, and there are elastic sheets 3-2 installed on both ends of the spring 3-1. The spring back roller 2 is installed at the middle line of the inner surface of the floating ring 2, one elastic sheet 3-2 is vertically fixed on the inner surface of the floating ring 2 in the horizontal direction, the other elastic sheet 3-2 on the spring back roller fixes trapdoor
4 in the horizontal direction.
[025] All trap doors 4 form an approximately circular movable seal which is filled in the floating ring 2, turning down 90 degrees under the action of gravity incited by falling turtle, and rebound to a horizontal position under the elastic force of the spring back roller after losing gravity.
[026] This invention provides a falling trap device for alien invasive turtles, the net cage 1 is stainless steel net cage, which is in barrel shape, and can be composed by material with different specifications, wherein, the mesh density of stainless steel net cage can be 5-500 meshes, the diameter of steel wire is 0 .1 mm to 0 .6 mm, and the diameter of mesh is 0 .15 mm to 4 .5 mm, the top of net cage is flush and tightly fixed with the floating ring 2. The diameter of that stainless steel net cage is the same as the inn diameter of the floating ring 2.
[027] According to the falling trap device for alien invasive turtles of the present invention, the trap door 4 is a wooden flap.
