Through the cultivation of targeted Fungi species large scale pollutants and wastes can be effectively and rapidly managed. The mycocycling process enables the recycling of a variety of waste streams in Australia which can be treated and moulded into new material products. The process includes the preparation of waste materials, structuring the waste with moulds and cultivating the Fungi to produce the desired biofabrication outcomes and applications.

The Mycocycling process will bond together offcuts and waste substrates into a mouldable form. The species chosen for cultivation will break down the complex hydrocarbon bonds of targeted pollutants to decontaminate the material, converting them to non toxic fungal sugars. The mycelium will also accumulate and capture heavy metal pollutants. The resulting composite material is lightweight, fire retardant, buoyant and insulation and through adjustment to the cultivation conditions can be grown to a variety of applications.
