Roller Blind System and Method
Technical Field [001] The invention relates to a roller blind system and method of installing a roller blind, and in particular, a modular roller blind system and associated method that allows a common set of parts to be used for a variety of installation situations.
Background [002] Roller blinds typically include a support housing and an elongate rotatable spindle around which a blind is wound and retracted. The housing may include a top, opposing sides to support the spindle therebetween, and a pelmet to cover the spindle from view.
[003] Such roller blinds are typically manufactured for one of two installation configurations. The first configuration is an installation outside of and along a top of a window recess, and the second configuration is when the installation is inside of the window recess. The first configuration may include opposing sides to cover opposing ends of the spindle, and either of first and second installation configurations may require the pelmet. The roller blinds are typically fully assembled in the required configuration during manufacture and fitted as a single unit on site.
[004] A problem with known roller blinds relates to the manufacture of roller blinds in multiple configurations. Another problem relates to the flexibility to adapt the roller blind in-situ to a particular installation situation and condition of the structure to which the roller blind is to be attached.
[005] The invention disclosed herein seeks to overcome one or more of the above-identified problems or at least provide a useful alternative.
