Description

ITEM OF CLOTHING
Field of the Invention [1] The present invention relates to an item of clothing. The embodiment described specifically refers to a onesie.
Background of the Invention [2] The present invention seeks to overcome or substantially ameliorate at least some of the deficiencies of the prior art, or to at least provide an alternative.
[3] It is to be understood that, if any prior art information is referred to herein, such reference does not constitute an admission that the information forms part of the common general knowledge in the art, in Australia or any other country.
Summary of the Invention [4] According to a first aspect, the present invention provides an item of clothing having a torso portion, leg portions, arm portions and a hood, wherein the clothing is made from terry towelling and/or absorbent microfiber material [5] In one embodiment, the clothing comprises an opening which is closable by a closure means.
[6] In another embodiment, the hood is lined with highly absorbent material.
[7] In another embodiment, the torso portion includes hand pockets.
[8] In another embodiment, the clothing can be folded into one of the pockets.
[9] In another embodiment, the clothing can be folded into the hood.
[10] In another embodiment, the clothing can be folded into the external surface of the hood with the hood then turned inside out.
[11] In another embodiment, the hood includes a drawstring extending along the edges thereof with lock toggles which act as closure means for the hood.
[12] In another embodiment, the leg portions and arm portions are full length.
[13] In another embodiment, an external surface of the hood includes a waterproof layer.
[14] In another embodiment, the suit is configured to cover the feet and hands of the user.
[15] In another embodiment, collars in the arm and leg portions can include elastic means or sealing means to provide sealing against wind or cold.
[16] In another embodiment, the clothing is configured to have a zip opening at the back of the torso portion.
2019100326 29 Mar 2019 [17] In another embodiment, the hood is removable from the remainder of the clothing.
[18] In another embodiment, the clothing is made from windproof material.
[19] Other aspects of the invention are also disclosed.
Brief Description of the Drawings [20] Notwithstanding any other forms which may fall within the scope of the present invention, preferred embodiments of the present invention will now be described, by way of examples only, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
[21] Figure 1 shows a top view of an item of clothing according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, [22] Figure 2 shows a close-up view of the item of clothing, and [23] Figure 3 shows the item of clothing in a folded configuration, being folded into its hood.
Description of Embodiments [24] It should be noted in the following description that like or the same reference numerals in different embodiments denote the same or similar features.
[25] Figures 1 to 3 show an item of clothing 10 according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention. The item of clothing 10 in the example refers to a onesie which is a loosefitting casual jumpsuit. The clothing 10 comprises a torso portion 11, leg portions 12, arm portions 13 and a hood 14. A closure means 15, being a zipper, extends downwardly from a front portion of the torso portion 11 to allow a user to insert their arms, legs and torso into the clothing 10.
[26] In the prior art, onesies are made for kids or adults and are made from heat retaining material such as knit cotton (as used in sweatshirts), fleece, or chenille. These are mostly intended as loungewear or sleepwear.
[27] The present item of clothing 10 is an all-in-one suit or jumpsuit made from terry towelling and/or absorbent Microfiber and will primarily be intended for use by users after swimming. The item of clothing 10 thus acts as a quick all over covering towel for the user.
[28] The zipper 15 down the front is provided for ease of dressing. The hood 14 will be a lined fabric hood along its internal surface 20 with highly absorbent material to absorb moisture from wet hair. The torso portion 11 will include pockets 16 on the front of the suit to keep user’s hands warm.
[29] The suit 10 can be folded up into the hood as shown in Figure 3. The suit 10 is folded into the external surface 18 of the hood 14, with the hood 14 then turned inside out. The hood 14 includes a drawstring extending along the edges 19 thereof and lock toggles. The
2019100326 29 Mar 2019 drawstring can be pulled tight so the hood acts as a carry bag. The internal surface 20 of the hood becomes the external surface.
[30] The suit 10 can be made for children between the ages of 1 -10 but can also be made for adults.
[31] Although a preferred embodiment of the present invention has been described, it will be apparent to skilled persons that modifications can be made to the embodiment shown.
[32] For example, the external surface 18 of the hood 14 can include a waterproof layer thereon which will act as a windbreaker or waterproof hood 14 in use, and will also assist in preventing water leaks when the suit 10 is folded into the hood 14.
[33] The suit 10 can also be configured to cover the feet and hands of the user. The collars in the arm and leg portions can include elastic means or other sealing means to provide sealing against wind or cold. The suit 10 can also be configured to have the zip opening at the back similar to wetsuits.
[34] The leg and arm portions can also be made to be short leg and short sleeves. The suit can also be made to be foldable into a pocket of the suit rather than the hood. The hood can be made removable from the remainder of the suit to allow easier packing into.
[35] The suit material can also be windproof.
