Abstract

Abstract: A piece of hardware that turns off a video display signal and turns it back on again as required. The hardware device runs on a timer and after set period will turn off a video signal. The hardware device can also turn on a video signal, this can be actuated by two methods, the first is via a proximity sensor - activating this sensor will communicate with the hardware device and it will turn on the video signal. The second method to activate the hardware device is via software communication that will activate the hardware device.

An image switching device
LCD screens are by their inherent nature static in nature i.e. they only receive a single input and that input come from a single source - My invention is a process that encompasses custom hardware and custom software. The custom hardware allows for a video signal from an LCD screen to be controlled as to when and how much of that signal is viewable - it also enables other video sources to be displayed at the same time. Comprising of a hardware device that simultaneously holds 2 video signals this hardware device can be activate either via a detection sensor or via a computer signal a secondary video signal.
The hardware device can run on a timer and after set period will turn off the secondarily video signal. Turning on the secondarily video signal is done via a piece of hardware that can be actuated by two methods, the first is via a proximity sensor - activating this sensor will communicate with the hardware device and it will turn on the video signal. The second method to activate the hardware device is via software communication that will activate the hardware device, this could be done via a computer screen saver which when it is activated (via a touchscreen) it will turn on the video signal and the interactive portion of the display monitor becomes visible.

The claims defining the innovation are as follows:
    1. A system including a data communication device that enables multiple methods of controlling and displaying a video signal.
  2. 2. A system as claimed in claim 1 that a user is able to interact with via a touchable, manual or mechanical element that responds to input but also allows for a image to be displayed in the background at the same time.
  3. 3. A system as claimed in claim 1 and claim 2 that accepts the users input, or users presence and transmits this data to a third party device for processing.
  4. 4. A system as claimed in claim 1 - 3 that may be a digital based or mechanical based system or a combination of both.
