Abstract

PAINT PALETTE SET The disclosed paint palette set is a rectangle (A4 size) deep-dish palette 1 with eight deep dish paint containers (inclusive in the deep-dish palette) that have wide accessible openings (65mm in diametre) on the top of the deep-dish palette, for easy access to allow for filling, using, mixing, cleaning and storage; and a flat palette 2 for mixing paint hues and values that also functions as a lid, which is designed with interlocking lug docks, to fit on to the lugs on the top of the deep-dish palette 1, to allow for effective space saving storage. Therefore, the flat pallet 2 functions as a lid for the deep-dish palette, allowing for storage of paint over a period (without drying out) and also prevents spillage or intermixing of paints, as the flat palette 2 fits into the lugs 3 (via interlocking lug docks 4) on the top of the deep-dish pallet 1 to ensure the lid does not slip off and also to allow for palette sets to be stacked on top of each other, which is an innovative design allowing for space saving storage. The lid design is innovative as: the lid functions as a mixing palette; lids usually fix over containers (an overhanging lip can be lifted off from the deep-dish palette, when the palette set is lifted) whereas, this design ensures the lid (flat pallet 2) remains in place as it is flush (without a lip) with the deep dish palette and remains in place through the interconnecting lug docks 4 and lugs 3, when the palette set is lifted or stacked. The lug 3 design is simple and effective as there are only two lugs that lock the flat palette into position with interconnecting lug docks 4 (on the breadth sides) innovatively allowing for easy removal of the lid/flat palette 2. IMPROVED PAINT PALETTE SET
Paint palettes are traditionally used for mixing colours. This innovative invention has been specifically devised for containing, mixing, storing, time management, waste reduction, storage and space saving storage, in order:
to provide an improved innovative palette set for individual students and professional artists that ♦ is simple, cheap and effective;
♦ is practical for use by individual students, professional artists or craftspeople;
♦ saves time (simple pack-up; paint is easily stored for later use; reduces the need to clean palette after every use);
♦ reduces waste of paint up to 80%;
♦ keeps paint in working condition (moist) up to ten weeks (average school term), to provide an improved palette set for educational use for groups of students that ♦ is simple, cheap and effective;
♦ is practical for group work as one palette set can be shared in the classroom: six students per table need two palette sets per table or one palette set and one extra flat palette per table;
♦ saves time (simple pack-up; palette sets stack on top of each other for space saving storage; paint is easily stored for later use; reduces the need to clean palette after every use);
♦ reduces waste of paint up to 80%;
♦ keeps paint in working condition (moist) up to ten weeks (average school term), includes a flat mixing palette that is also a lid for the deep-dish palette:
♦ smooth non-restricting colour mixing surface, suited to a wide range of hues and values;
♦ easy to clean;
♦ fastens on top of the deep-dish palette as a lid by interconnecting lug docks that slot around lugs on the deep-dish palette;
♦ design of lugs and lug docks innovatively place the lid/flat palette flush to the deep-dish palette. This removes the need for a lip to fasten over the deep-dish palette, resulting in the reduction of dropping the deep-dish palette when lifting the palette set - lifting palette set holding the lip of the flat palette causing the bottom palette to fall or slip.

♦ is specifically designed for curriculum-based education where students mix hues and values, using primary and neutral colours (three cool and three warm primary colours, one black and one white neutral colour) as students are required to learn and apply visual art conventions, including colour mixing of hues and values; reduces cost of paint for school, as limited colours are needed and paint keeps in usable condition over one term (8-11 weeks).

Claims (7)

  1. The claims defining the invention are as follows:
    1. The innovative paint palette set, comprises of: a deep-dish-palette: a flat palette that functions as a colour mixing palette and a lid for the deep-dish palette, to enable storage of unused or prepared paint.
  2. 2. The paint palette set can be claimed in claim 1 as comprising of a deep-dish pallet incorporating eight deep-dish paint containers that can hold eight different colours, with a 125ml capacity per dish/container.
  3. 3. The paint palette set can be claimed in claim 1 and 2, as comprising of a deepdish palette that is easy to clean as the single smooth hard polypropylene plastic palette mold corners and edges are curved.
  4. 4. The paint palette set can be claimed in 1, as including a flat palette that functions as a colour mixing palette enabling mixing of hues and values as well as being easy and quick to clean, due to its smooth flat hard polypropylene plastic surface
  5. 5. The paint palette set can be claimed in 1 and 4 as including a flat palette that also functions as a lid, that seals and stores colours in the deep-dish palette over a period and are innovative space savers as palette sets, stack on the top of each other.
  6. 6. The paint palette set can be claimed in claim 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 to include lugs on the breadth sides of the deep-dish palette to secure the flat palette as a lid (via interconnecting lug docks on the breadth of the flat palette) that are easy to secure for storage or easy to separate for use.
  7. 7. The paint palette set can be claimed in claim 1,3 and 4 to be made from smooth hard white polypropylene (05 PP) recyclable plastic or a similar material.
